WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama was interrupted three times
by a woman who shouted about drones and detainees in Cuba as he delivered a
speech on national security.
The woman was identified as Medea Benjamin from the anti-war group
Code Pink. Benjamin yelled from behind a bank of cameras before security
removed her from the hall at National Defense University in Washington.
Obama at one point said he was willing to "cut the young lady
some slack" because the issues he was addressing are worth being
passionate about.
Benjamin shouted, quote, "86 were cleared already. Release them
today!"
That appears to be a reference to detainees who remain in Cuba despite
being cleared for transfer from the facility.
Institute for Food and Development Policy. Vivió cuatro años en Cuba y ha
escrito tres libros.
IRS official on leave
refused to resign, GOP senator says
Published
May 24, 2013 FoxNews.com
WASHINGTON
– First
she refused to testify. Now Lois Lerner, the IRS official at the center of the
tax agency scandal, is refusing to resign, according to a top Republican
senator.Sources confirmed to Fox News earlier Thursday that Lerner, the head of the IRS division that oversaw the unit targeting conservative groups, had been placed on administrative leave, with pay.
But Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, claimed she was only put in that status after refusing to step down.
He said the commissioner was in his right to demand her resignation, and said taxpayers should not continue to pay her salary indefinitely.
“My understanding is the new acting IRS commissioner asked for Ms. Lerner’s resignation, and she refused to resign. She was then put on administrative leave instead,” Grassley said in a statement. “The IRS owes it to taxpayers to resolve her situation quickly. The agency needs to move on to fix the conditions that led to the targeting debacle."
Capitol Hill sources said Lerner, the director of exempt organizations, was placed on paid leave Thursday, amid calls from some lawmakers for her to be suspended or fired. In her absence, Ken Corbin, the current deputy director of the submission processing, wage and investment division, will take over her duties, according to an internal IRS memo obtained by Fox News.
Lerner, the official who first acknowledged the controversial IRS practice earlier this month, asserted her innocence at a House hearing on Wednesday. She then refused to testify, citing her Fifth Amendment right against self incrimination. The move angered many who say she should have been forced to answer why the tax agency targeted conservative groups applying for tax exempt status.
Republican leaders of that committee, though, now say she waived that right by giving a statement and want to haul her back to testify.
Pressure has been mounting on the administration to take tough action against Lerner, after two other IRS officials were pushed out in the wake of the scandal.
In a letter earlier Thursday to IRS Acting Commissioner Daniel Werfel, Sens. Carl Levin, D-Mich., and John McCain, R-Ariz., asked the agency to remove Lerner from office and said they had “lost confidence in her ability to fulfill her duties.”
It's unclear whether Republicans will succeed in trying to recall her before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., chairman of the panel, said through an aide Thursday that her Fifth Amendment assertion is "no longer valid," since she delivered remarks at the start of Wednesday's hearing.
That hearing was never technically adjourned, and Republicans hope to bring her back.
Others, though, say she was in her right to defend herself and subsequently invoke the right to remain silent.
The IRS has had a series of missteps that have not only publicly marred the reputation of the IRS, but also called into question what the White House knew about the scandal and when they knew it.
Separately, Tea Party-related groups who claim they were targeted by the tax agency have started filing lawsuits this week against the IRS. In some cases they are asking for the IRS to admit wrongdoing. In others, they are seeking monetary claims.
"It's extremely troubling that it has taken this long for Lois Lerner to removed from the top exempt position at the IRS,” Jay Sekulow, chief counsel of the American Center for Law and Justice, the group suing on behalf of some Tea Party groups, said in a statement to FoxNews.com.
Sekulow said instead of putting Lerner on administrative leave, his group is calling for her to be fired.

Controversy indicative of a federal bureaucracy that has expanded beyond control by Sal Russo May 21, 2013
Our Founding Fathers were fearful of a powerful federal government because it was a threat to liberty. The recent Internal Revenue Service scandal is the foreseeable and inevitable consequence of a too powerful federal government, and the validation of the mission of the Tea Party movement that stands firmly for a limited national government.
When our Constitution was being written, our leaders were wise enough to know that concentrated power inevitably leads to abuse. So they constructed a system of government that greatly limited the function of Washington to enumerated powers, and they imposed a system of checks and balances to keep those powers under control. That the president's former chief adviser, David Axelrod, recently used "the government is so vast" excuse is unwittingly an indictment of a bureaucracy run amok.
The Tea Party burst onto the political scene in 2009 in reaction to seeing both political parties succumbing to government expansion, excessive spending and an unsustainable national debt. Concentrating money and power is a recipe for national disaster, and the IRS scandal is a perfect example. And looming behind it all is ObamaCare -- an epic disaster waiting to happen.
When the IRS story broke, it seemed immediately plausible to us. As the Tea Party Express conducted its national bus tours, we heard local Tea Party groups from all over the country complaining about IRS delays with inappropriate and intrusive questions. This unfairness was so pronounced that it was obvious that there was a deliberate attempt to suppress these groups. Unsurprisingly, the mainstream media ignored and dismissed these legitimate grievances as false conspiracy theories.
As the proverbial camel's head gets under the IRS tent, the predictable collapse is starting to happen. While originally dismissed as the escapades of a couple of rogue agents in the Cincinnati IRS office, we know now that officials in Washington were at least aware of the scandal very early on, and maybe are even more culpable than that. It is clear that congressional inquiries about improper behavior were pushed aside and material facts were not disclosed. The cover-up had begun, which is always a sign that there is more bad news coming from the IRS.
This scandal is indicative of a federal government that has expanded beyond control. The only cure for an overgrown government is to reduce the size, cost and intrusiveness of the federal government. Since absolute power corrupts absolutely, it is the system, not the individual, which is to blame. It is an unavoidable consequence of human behavior for those with unchecked power who ultimately turn to abusing that power, regardless of whatever noble intentions they may have.
As Thomas Jefferson famously said, "Bad government results from too much government." We cannot continue expanding the government without consequence. American freedoms and privacy are being violated to serve the whims of government bureaucrats who feel empowered by the system. If we are going to get serious about protecting ourselves from government overreach, we must be willing to temper the invasive power of government.
There is a very good way to reduce the necessity of a huge IRS, which has also been tasked with enforcing ObamaCare. The president is increasing the size of the IRS at a very time when people are less inclined to want them to look at their private health care records.
The solution to both problems is straightforward. We should repeal ObamaCare and use more market-driven solutions to improve our health care system. And, we must finally address the 800-pound gorilla in the room, comprehensive tax reform. Both actions would substantially reduce the size and power of the IRS and the first step in reining in the size, cost and intrusiveness of the federal government.

WND EXCLUSIVE Congressman: Time for special prosecutors 'There's just so much there ... and it already stinks to high heaven'
Garth Kant is
a WND staff writer. Previously, he spent five years writing, copy-editing and
producing at "CNN Headline News," three years writing, copy-editing
and training writers at MSNBC, and also served several local TV newsrooms as
producer, executive producer and assistant news director. He is the author of
the McGraw-Hill textbook, "How to Write Television News."
Rep. Louis Gohmert,
R-Texas, is now demanding a special prosecutor look into the Obama
administration’s involvement in several scandals making national headlines.
Gohmert, a candid lawmaker who doesn’t mince words,
has been in the spotlight recently for speaking boldly about the scandals in
Washington. On May 15, Gohmert got into a heated exchange with Attorney General Eric Holder during a House Judiciary Committee hearing. When Holder challenged the congressman’s truthfulness, Gohmert shot back, “You point out one thing that I said that was not true.”
The attorney general replied, “I know what the FBI did. You cannot know what I know,” but he didn’t cite any inaccuracies by Gohmert.
The next day at a Capitol Hill news conference in which tea-party members described abuse by the IRS, Gohmert inferred that the president is a tyrant.
The congressman thundered, “If the AP story has taught anything it should be, to the media, that when there is a tyrannical despot, the media will be one of the early victims – you will be used as helpful savants for awhile, and then when you’re no longer needed, you will be pressured and put out of business as well.”
WND asked Gohmert what Congress should be doing about the Obama scandals, beginning with abuses at the Justice Department.
“We’ve already found the attorney general in contempt, and that did nothing,” he said. “We have all kinds of issues we’ve asked the Justice Department about and they are not providing any answers.
“So, unless we have legislation that creates a special prosecutor to deal with an attorney general who is in contempt of Congress and who will not address the issues he’s created, we won’t get to the bottom of it.”
The House of Representatives found Holder in contempt last June for refusing to turn over documents in the Fast & Furious scandal.
The Justice Department’s latest scandals involve secretly obtaining a massive number of phone records from the Associated Press while pursuing a leak, naming a Fox News reporter an unindicted co-conspirator for gaining access to confidential information from the State Department and targeting another Fox News reporter and a producer pursuing the Fast & Furious gun-running scandal.
“The Justice Department misused the judicial process. To get a warrant to go after a Fox News reporter who was simply trying to get a scoop, there’s nothing illegal about that,” Gohmert said. “If people had known how wide and deep the Fast & Furious situation was, it certainly could have affected the last election. So, they go after a reporter who’s going to try to get to the bottom of it. The Justice Department is actually protecting itself there.
“Holder claims the AP leak was one of the most egregious he’s ever seen. Well, apparently every leak that makes the Obama administration look bad is egregious.”
He added, “Instead of just violating the Constitution so completely and so brashly and going after the AP, the more appropriate thing to do would be to say, ‘You know what, we’ve got only a handful of people in this administration who knew this information that was leaked. Let’s check just those folks’ phone lines. Let’s see who they were meeting with, and we’ll make the determination from there.’ But that’s not what they wanted to do. They didn’t want to catch the leaker in the administration. They would much rather intimidate the AP and go after all the other records that they could use to help intimidate them in the future. It’s just incredible.”
WND asked Gohmert what Congress should do about the IRS’ harassment of conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status.
“Now that we have at least one IRS official (Lois Lerner, head of the tax-exempt organizations division) who has taken the Fifth Amendment, we’re not going to be able to get to the bottom of it without using the judiciary process, so it looks like we’ll have to pursue that ourselves,” indicating this scandal will also require a special prosecutor.
But Gohmert didn’t stop there.
“I think we need to be dismantling the IRS so this can never happen again. You can actually change the outcome of an election by intimidating those who won’t speak up and by preventing groups from obtaining legal status so they won’t raise money and hold gatherings,” he said. “We’ve created a system where, unless you get a certain tax status you can’t raise money and go out and speak your mind. You have to have IRS approval. They figured that out and intimidated people who could have affected the election.
“So, it is bad. We’ve got to dismantle the IRS to the point it can never do that again.”
Gohmert suggested a flat tax would help prevent IRS abuse of power, adding, “If we are going to have an IRS, it will have to be just a shadow of its current self and never have this kind of power to affect elections again, as it it appears it may have.”
Asked whether he believes the orders to harass conservatives came from the top, Gohmert replied, “That’s what we don’t know yet. They threw a heck of a firewall around the president. Maybe he doesn’t know. Maybe it’s one of those situations where everyone’s so desperate to keep this president in power that they would use and abuse the IRS to try to intimidate opponents of the president.”
Gohmert didn’t say whether he believes it’s time to have a special prosecutor look into all the serious questions about the attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, on Sept. 11, 2012. For starters, he’d like to know whose idea it was to blame the attack on an anti-Islamic video that has since been proven unrelated to events there.
“Apparently, there was a 10 p.m. call between [former Secretary of State] Hillary Clinton and the president and, gee, right after that call they start talking about a video. But at two in the morning, when [former deputy chief of mission in Libya] Greg Hicks says [U.S. Ambassador to Libya] Chris Stevens’ last, dying desperate words were, ‘We’re under attack,’ it is clear it was not about a video. Everybody knew it was not about a video. They knew it was an attack. [The attackers] knew exactly where to plant the mortars.
“Sending Susan Rice out (to push the video in the talk shows) – I feel quite sure she didn’t know she was not telling the truth. They sent her out because she wouldn’t know she was lying, and she was quite convincing.
As a former U.S. Army captain, Gohmert is shocked the military didn’t send forces to respond to the attack.
“What happened at Benghazi is just unthinkable,” he said. “We have an American tradition of protecting your fellow soldiers. You never want to be left hanging by yourself. If somebody is out there without enough help, then you try to go help them.
“Then you find out there was military personnel ready to go, but they were told to stand down. I’ve been trying to get in touch with some of those people, and it’s tough. Apparently they like to send these guys on training missions where they can’t use their cell phones, which means you have a heck of a time trying to talk to them about when they were ordered to stand down.
“There’s just so much there, we haven’t got nearly to the bottom, and it already stinks to high heaven.” http://www.wnd.com/2013/05/congressman-time-for-special-prosecutors/#sQ758mcuoTid6m1R.01
NBC: Holder Personally OK'd Fox Reporter's Warrant
Thursday,
23 May 2013 10:23 PM
Attorney
General Eric Holder personally signed off on the search warrant of Fox News
reporter James Rosen's emails, NBC reports.
The warrant named Rosen a “possible co-conspirator” in violation of the Espionage Act for obtaining leaked classified information from a Pentagon source. Rosen has not been charged.
The revelation came on the same day President Barack Obama said in a speech that he had ordered Holder to review the Justice Department's standards for investigating cases that involve journalists.
"I am troubled by the possibility that leak investigations may chill the investigative journalism that holds government accountable," Obama said in the speech. "Journalists should not be at legal risk for doing their jobs."
A law enforcement official told NBC News of Holder's personal involvement on Thursday. Holder has previously said that he recused himself from the AP phone records investigation since he had been a witness in the initial probe, but no one had previously indicated Holder's role in the Rosen case.
"It was approved at the highest levels -- and I mean the highest," the law enforcement official told NBC, speaking on condition of anonymity. He told the news organization that he included Holder in that statement. © 2013 Newsmax.

Tyranny around the corner -- Team Obama trashes Constitution to pursue opponents
By Judge Andrew P. Napolitano Published May 23, 2013 FoxNews.com
o A few weeks ago, President Obama advised graduates at Ohio State University that they need not listen to voices warning about tyranny around the corner, because we have self-government in America. He argued that self-government is in and of itself an adequate safeguard against tyranny, because voters can be counted upon to elect democrats (lowercase “d”) not tyrants.
His argument defies
logic and 20th-century history. It reveals an ignorance of the tyranny of the
majority, which believes it can write any law, regulate any behavior, alter any
procedure and tax any event so long as it can get away with it.
History has shown that the majority will not permit any higher law or logic or value -- like fidelity to the natural law, a belief in the primacy of the individual or an acceptance of the supremacy of the Constitution -- that prevents it from doing as it wishes.Reporters are protected by the First Amendment, and the Supreme Court has ruled that they can ask whatever questions they wish without fear of prosecution.
Under Obama’s watch, the majority has, by active vote or refusal to interfere, killed hundreds of innocents -- including three Americans -- by drone, permitted federal agents to write their own search warrants, bombed Libya into tribal lawlessness without a declaration of war so that a mob there killed our ambassador with impunity, attempted to force the Roman Catholic Church to purchase insurance policies that cover artificial birth control, euthanasia and abortion, ordered your doctor to ask you whether you own guns, used the IRS to intimidate outspoken conservatives, seized the telephone records of newspaper reporters without lawful authority and in violation of court rules, and obtained a search warrant against one of my Fox colleagues by misrepresenting his true status to a federal judge.
James Rosen, my colleague and friend, is a professional journalist. He covers the State Department for Fox News. In order to do his job, he has cultivated sources in the State Department -- folks willing to speak from time to time off the record.
One of Rosen’s sources apparently was a former employee of a federal contractor who was on detail to the State Department, Stephen Jin-Woo Kim. Kim is an expert in arms control and national defense whose lawyers have stated that his job was to explain byzantine government behavior so we all can understand it.
When he was indicted for communicating top secret and sensitive information, presumably to Rosen, his lawyers replied by stating that the information he discussed was already in the public domain, and thus it wasn’t secret.
Prior to securing Kim’s indictment, the Department of Justice obtained a search warrant for Google’s records of Rosen’s personal emails by telling a federal judge that Rosen had committed the crime of conspiracy by undue flattery of Kim and appealing to Kim’s vanity until Kim told Rosen what he wanted to hear. In a word, that is rubbish. And the FBI agent who claimed that asking a source for information and the federal judge who found that the flattering questions alone constituted criminal behavior were gravely in error.
Reporters are protected in their craft by the First Amendment, and the Supreme Court has ruled that they can ask whatever questions they wish without fear of prosecution.
If Kim revealed classified information to Rosen -- a charge Kim vigorously denies -- that is Kim’s crime, not Rosen’s. The Supreme Court ruled in the Pentagon Papers case that it is not a crime for a journalist to seek secrets, to receive them, to possess them and to publish them so long as they affect a matter of material public interest.
The government’s behavior here is very troubling. Government lawyers and FBI agents are charged with knowing the law. They must have known that Rosen committed no crime, and they no doubt never intended to charge him, and they never have. They materially misled the judge, who saw the phrase “probable cause” of criminal activity (taken from the Fourth Amendment) in their affidavit in support of the search warrant they sought, and he signed. The judge should have seen this for the ruse it was. It is inconceivable that a person could conspire to commit a crime (release of classified information) that is impossible for that person to commit, particularly with a Supreme Court case directly on point.
This misuse of the search warrant mechanism by misrepresentation of the status of the target continues the radicalization of federal criminal procedure now typical of this Department of Justice. It has claimed that it can release military weapons to foreign criminal gangs just to see where the weapons end up, and that its agents cannot be prosecuted for harm caused by those who received the weapons. It has held that the serious consideration given in the White House by high-ranking government officials to the identity of persons the president wants to kill somehow is a constitutional substitute for due process and thus enables the president to use drones to kill people uncharged with federal crimes. It has extended the public safety exception to the Miranda rule from the few seconds at the scene of the crime spent securing the prisoner, where the Supreme Court has said it resides, to more than 72 hours.
And now this.
The reason we have the due process safeguards imposed upon the government by the Constitution is to keep tyranny from lurking anywhere here, much less around the corner. Due process is the intentionally created obstacle to government procedural shortcuts, which, if disregarded, will invite tyranny to knock at the front door and sneak in through the back. Justice Felix Frankfurter warned of this 70 years ago when he wrote, “The history of liberty has largely been the history of the observance of procedural safeguards.” That was true then, and it is true now.
Do you expect the Department of Justice to cut constitutional corners against you?

mujer comenzó a interrumpirlo.
desarrollo internacional y el Institute for Food and Development Policía.
Rove: Obama 'Directly' Involved in Benghazi Lie; Scandals 'Corrosive'

The scandals facing the White House
— particularly the Benghazi attack of last Sept. 11 — will be corrosive to
Barack Obama’s presidency, Republican strategist Karl Rove tells Newsmax TV in
an exclusive interview.
“These things will be corrosive,” Rove, who helped George W. Bush twice win the White House, tells Newsmax. “They'll eat away at the president's rating. We'll see it over time and, particularly, as Congress asks more questions in the weeks ahead.
Latest: Is Benghazi a Cover Up? Is Obama at the Heart of It? Vote Here
“This stuff is only starting to seep in,” Rove adds. “It will take a while for these things to sort of sink in. I am not surprised that it hasn’t begun to impact his job approval just yet.”
Rove, who also served as deputy chief of staff in the Bush White House, is a Fox News analyst. His latest book is ‘Courage and Consequence: My Life as a Conservative in the Fight.”

Story continues below the video:
Most troubling for Rove is how the Obama administration has grossly mismanaged the information — before and after — surrounding the attacks on the U.S. consulate in Libya, which killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans.
“The West Wing was complicit in the Benghazi lie,” Rove declares to Newsmax. “And, look, I believe that, ultimately, the president is responsible for setting the tone.”
He noted how U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice went on five Sunday morning talks shows five days after the attacks — working from talking points that were heavily edited largely at the request of the State Department — and said that the assaults began as a peaceful protest against an anti-Muslim film that was later “hijacked” by militants.
“You don’t send out Susan Rice to go on five Sunday morning talk programs unless somebody in the West Wing has said, ‘Let's send her out’ — and somebody in the West Wing has said this is what she needs to say or said, ‘O.K., that's an interesting idea. You ought to go ahead and say that.’”
He says that the controversies — which also include the targeting of tea party and conservative groups by the Internal Revenue Service and the recent secret seizure of telephone records of editors and reporters at The Associated Press — point to a haughty commander in chief.
“I do see an arrogance, a belief that the rules somehow don't apply to him — that the norms that other presidents have abided by should not be respected and that he is free to do something that he would criticize in others,” Rove said.
“Do you believe that if the Bush administration had gone after The New York Times in the same fashion that President Obama went after the AP and Fox News that then-Senator Obama would not have been on the floor of the Senate raising hell? Of course he would have.
“There's lots of things that he has done that are inappropriate.”
But the most egregious will always be Benghazi, Rove says.
“This involves the president himself,” he declares to Newsmax. “He is the commander in chief, and at 4:08 p.m. on the afternoon on Sept. 11 in Washington, our government received word that attack was underway on our diplomatic facility in Benghazi.
“At 5 p.m., the president was told about this by the Secretary of Defense [Leon Panetta] and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff [Gen. Martin Dempsey], who were in the office for a half-hour meeting on another subject.

“The president ordered them to deploy whatever forces were necessary,” Rove adds. “They later testified that was the last contact they had with the president that night — and we now know that no forces were deployed.
“The president didn't say: ‘I'm going to pick up the phone and call the president of Libya and say: Our facility's under attack. You have an international responsibility to protect our people. What are you doing?’ He talks to him for the first time ever the next morning to say thank you for returning the body of our dead ambassador.
“This is unacceptable,” Rove continues. “Where was the president? What was he doing? Who concocted this lie that was told to the American people? We know that it's a total, complete fabrication, a lie — and we still don’t know who was the person who authored that and told her to go say that?
“It's somebody sitting in the West Wing of the White House — and their motivation was to protect the president against criticism that the war on terror was not over and that this was a terrorist attack.”
In his wide-ranging exclusive Newsmax interview, Rove also says:
- His American Crossroads super PAC has applied to the Internal Revenue Service for nonprofit status “and three years later, that process has not ended for us.”
- The Justice Department “picked James Rosen out and tried to make an example of him” when it obtained a warrant to gain access to the Fox News reporter’s telephone records and emails in a 2009 probe of a former State Department contractor who later was charged with disclosing national defense information.
- Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will be “a serious contender” should she run for president in 2016. But “my head says she runs; my gut says she doesn’t.”

How JFK Secretly ADMIRED Hitler Thursday, May 23, 2013
A new book out in Germany
reveals how President Kennedy was a secret admirer of the Nazis.
President Kennedy’s
travelogues and letters chronicling his wanderings through Germany before WWII,
when Adolf Hitler was in power, have been unearthed and show him generally in
favor of the movement that was to plunge the world into the greatest war in
history.
‘Fascism?’ wrote the
youthful president-to-be in one. ‘The right thing for Germany.’
In another; ‘What are the
evils of fascism compared to communism?’
And on August 21, 1937 –
two years before the war that would claim 50 million lives broke out – he
wrote: ‘The Germans really are too good – therefore people have ganged up on
them to protect themselves.’
Other musings concern how
great the autobahns were – ‘the best roads in the world’ – and how, having
visited Hitler’s Bavarian holiday home in Berchtesgaden and the tea house built
on top of the mountain for him.
He declared: ‘Who has
visited these two places can easily imagine how Hitler will emerge from the
hatred currently surrounding him to emerge in a few years as one of the most
important personalities that ever lived.’

John Fund: Conservative Vote Suppressed by IRS Targeting
The IRS could be directly to blame for lower voter
turnout during the 2012 election after conservative groups were left sidelined
by the IRS decision to target them, according to John Fund, national-affairs
columnist for National Review
Online.
In his Thursday column, Fund said there is little evidence to substantiate claims that turnout was lower because voters, particularly minorities, were thwarted from casting their ballots due to tighter state laws requiring photo-ID at polling stations.
"All of this proved to be twaddle," wrote Fund, pointing to an August 2012 Washington Post poll that showed nearly two-thirds of African Americans and Hispanics backed photo ID. Moreover, the Census Bureau, he said, has since reported the voter turnout rate for blacks exceeded that of whites for the first time.
"But it now turns out there may have [been] suppression of the vote after all," he wrote, pointing to a conversation he had with Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who said, "It looks like a lot of tea-party groups were less active or never got off the ground because of the IRS actions. Sure seems like people were discouraged by it."
Fund said he had also spoken to several conservative groups that were directly impacted by having their nonprofit status delayed by "either IRS inaction or burdensome and intrusive questioning.
"At least two donors told me they didn't contribute to True the Vote, a group formed to combat voter fraud, because after three years of waiting, the group still didn't have its status granted at the time of the 2012 election," Fund wrote.
"The IRS claims that all the delays and information demands were rooted in mere mismanagement and misjudgment, a stance that began to look even shakier [Wednesday] when Lois Lerner, the director of the IRS' exempt-organization division, took the Fifth Amendment before a House committee," wrote Fund.
He concluded, "It won't be easy to discover whether the 'voter suppression' engaged in by the IRS was malicious and political. But we have to make every effort to find out before the American people start losing confidence in the integrity of our elections."
