Tenemos Papa.

Progress: Only 3 in 10 Trust the American Government  Kyle Becker

Unexpectedly, this is great news for people who are trying to wake others up to what the government is doing. Keep sharing important news that other media don’t want to report.
Pew Research Center:
The Pew Research Center in Washington, D.C. has found that fewer Americans than ever trust the decisions made by the government.
Data collected from a survey taken in January of this year indicates that all demographics and partisan groups experienced an increasing lack of faith in government leadership, according to a release posted on the Pew Research website late last week.
“However, there are disparities,” the official summary noted. “[M]ore than twice as many Hispanics as whites (44 percent vs. 20 percent) trust the federal government, and more blacks (38 percent) than whites trust the government.”
Researchers additionally observed that younger Americans trust the government more than their older counterparts, and that more liberals believe in the administration of President Barack Obama than either independents or Republicans.
The government is spending beyond the economy’s means to pay it back and meanwhile achieve growth in production and job creation. It is continuing a ‘war on terror’ without end and giving itself a blank check to encroach on civil liberties. We need to keep holding the government accountable.

1.6 Billion Rounds Of Ammo For Homeland Security? It’s Time For A National Conversation

The Denver Post, on February 15th, ran an Associated Press article entitled Homeland Security aims to buy 1.6b rounds of ammo, so far to little notice.  It confirmed that the Department of Homeland Security has issued an open purchase order for 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition.  As reported elsewhere, some of this purchase order is for hollow-point rounds, forbidden by international law for use in war, along with a frightening amount specialized for snipers. Also reported elsewhere, at the height of the Iraq War the Army was expending less than 6 million rounds a month.  Therefore 1.6 billion rounds would be enough to sustain a hot war for 20+ years.  In America.
Add to this perplexing outré purchase of ammo, DHS now is showing off its acquisition of heavily armored personnel carriers, repatriated from the Iraqi and Afghani theaters of operation.  As observed by “paramilblogger” Ken Jorgustin last September:
[T]he Department of Homeland Security is apparently taking delivery (apparently through the  Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico VA, via the manufacturer – Navistar Defense LLC) of an undetermined number of the recently retrofitted 2,717 ‘Mine Resistant Protected’ MaxxPro MRAP vehicles for service on the streets of the United States.”
These MRAP’s ARE BEING SEEN ON U.S. STREETS all across America by verified observers with photos, videos, and descriptions.”
Regardless of the exact number of MRAP’s being delivered to DHS (and evidently some to POLICE via DHS, as has been observed), why would they need such over-the-top vehicles on U.S. streets to withstand IEDs, mine blasts, and 50 caliber hits to bullet-proof glass? In a war zone… yes, definitely. Let’s protect our men and women. On the streets of America… ?”

“They all have gun ports… Gun Ports? In the theater of war, yes. On the streets of America…?
Seriously, why would DHS need such a vehicle on our streets?”
Why indeed?  It is utterly inconceivable that Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is planning a coup d’etat against President Obama, and the Congress, to install herself as Supreme Ruler of the United States of America.  There, however, are real signs that the Department bureaucrats are running amok.  About 20 years ago this columnist worked, for two years, in the U.S. Department of Energy’s general counsel’s office in its procurement and finance division.  And is wise to the ways.   The answer to “why would DHS need such a vehicle?” almost certainly is this:  it’s a cool toy and these (reportedly) million dollar toys are being recycled, without much of a impact on the DHS budget.  So… why not?

Drones Will Target Conservative Americans

March 13, 2013 by Kris Zane
For many of us, Rand Paul’s filibuster was a surreal moment in time, beckoning back to better days when Mr. Smith Goes to Washington was considered a masterpiece of film because it embodied the values of our nation. Today, “violence porn” films like Django Unchained are considered the top of the heap because they, sadly, embody our corrupt and violent society.
“Old Bull” Republicans like John McCain and Lindsey Graham thought Rand Paul’s filibuster was stupid and irrelevant.  That it was ridiculous to think that Barack Hussein Obama, who has from almost Day One of his presidency spurned the rule of law—often blathering about “if Congress won’t act, I will”—would drop a hellfire missile on an American sitting in a cafe.
But this wasn’t some manufactured issue, as the Left is famous for. Michael Isakoff uncovered a secret DOJ memo last month that gave the Obama administration the authority to kill any U.S. citizen, at any time, anywhere, without proof, without due process, accountable to no one.
And in fact, Anwar al-Awlaki, an American citizen, was taken out by a drone for basically being a propagandist for Al-Qaeda. Whether, being an American citizen, he should have been given due process is debatable. But two weeks after al-Awlaki was killed, his sixteen year old son, Abdulrahman, also an American citizen, was killed with a drone. His crime was being related to an identified terrorist. And in fact, then-Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs blamed al-Awlaki’s son for “not having a more responsible father” for his being vaporized by a missile.
And then there was the news that the Obama administration had ordered a fleet of “public safety” drones, able to pick up cell phone traffic, able to identify whether the target—that is, an American citizen—is armed or not—with the ability to be easily outfitted with missiles.  Experts estimate this fleet of “public safety” drones to reach 30,000 by the end of Obama’s “third term.”
This in itself would have remained innocuous enough, but there was this odd “War on Domestic Terrorism” that the Obama administration was waging against conservatives.
For example, the Department of Homeland Security published a study titled “Hot Spots of Terrorism and Other Crimes in the United States, which identified potential domestic terrorists as those who are “reverent of individual liberty.” Those who are “suspicious of centralized federal authority.” Those who believe there is a “grave threat to national sovereignty and/or personal liberty.”
This of course sounds very much like beliefs espoused by conservatives, specifically the Tea Party, so it was valid for conservatives to be concerned.
Rand Paul, more pointedly, cited in his filibuster further ludicrous “behaviors” of potential domestic terrorists: Those who have guns with high capacity magazines and weatherized ammunition. Those who have more than a seven day supply of food. Those who pay in cash. And probably the most ludicrous: Those who are missing fingers.
It took almost two months for the American people to get a straight answer from the Obama administration as to whether an American citizen can be killed on American soil with a drone for being a potential terrorist.
Obama refused to answer the question. CIA appointee John Brennan, prompted by the Senate Judiciary Committee, refused to answer. Attorney General Eric Holder initially stated that it was constitutional in a letter to Senator Rand Paul. But when pressed by Senator Cruz, after equivocating for several minutes, Holder finally admitted that no, the Obama administration could not constitutionally kill an American citizen on American soil with a drone—though he never states this directly.
This was the impetus for Rand Paul’s thirteen hour filibuster of the John Brennan nomination, which finally resulted in the Obama administration sending a terse and extremely vague letter to Rand Paul, supposedly clarifying its position.
The letter states:
It has come to my attention that you have now asked an additional question: “Does the President have the authority to use a weaponized drone to kill an American not engaged in combat on American soil?” The answer to that question is no.
Of course, the question is, what does the Obama administration consider “combat”? This was not addressed; and more than likely, Obama, like everything else surrounding his drone program, will keep this under wraps.
John Brennan, who is in charge of the Obama administration’s drone program abroad, will no doubt become the de facto head of the domestic “public safety” drone program. All able to nullify the Fourth Amendment and spy on Americans. All able to determine whether a potential “domestic terrorist” is armed. All able to fire a missile, vaporizing an American sitting in a cafe, minding his own business, deemed by Barack Hussein Obama to be engaged in “combat.”

Obama administration fails watchdog’s transparency test

Caroline May Political Reporter
The Obama administration has come up short on one government watchdog’s test for transparency.
Cause of Action, a self-described government accountability organization, released a report examining federal agencies’ compliance with Freedom of Information Act requests, Wednesday.
As the group notes in their “Grading the Government” report, during his first month in office, President Obama laid out his goal to the heads of executive branch agencies to make his “the most transparent Administration in history.”
With Obama’s mission in mind the group set out to test the administration’s transparency — grading each agency on their responses to identical FIOAs — regarding spending on promotional items. The departments were graded on the amount of time it took to respond, the number of redactions in the responses and whether or not they granted the group a Public-Interest Purpose fee waiver.
The report found the average agency grade to be a “C-minus.”
According to Cause of Action, the Department of Commerce and the Department of Defense were among the worst FIOA responders, with each department receiving an “F” based on their grading system.
The Department of Education came out with with the lone “A.”
“What ‘Grading the Government’ shows is an inconsistency at best, and a failure at worst, by federal agencies in not just compliance with the President’s pledge for transparency, but compliance with basic FOIA protocol,” said Dan Epstein, Cause of Action executive director in a statement.

“Failure by these agencies to disclose documents is a failure in their service to the American taxpayers who fund them and rely on them to be accountable and transparent,” he added.
The 14 other agencies came out somewhere in the middle: The Department of Agriculture received a “C,” he Department of Energy got a “C-minus,” the Department of Health and Human Services received a “D,” the Department of Homeland Security got a “D-minus,” the Department of Housing and Urban Development received a “D-minus,” the Department of the Interior received a “B,” the Department of Justice got a “D,” the Labor Department got a “C-minus,” Department of State received a “C,” Department of Transportation got a “D,” the Department of the Treasury got a “D-minus,” the Department of Veterans Affairs received a “B-minus,” and the Environmental Protection Agency got a “B.”
As the organization notes, the report is not exhaustive as it only probed 16 departments however it contends that the research serves to confirm an earlier report offered by Bloomberg News.
“This report does not give a comprehensive picture of how the Federal Government handled its FOIA responsibilities in 2012 because it only examines performance on one request sent to 16 departments. It is a continuation of an earlier report by Bloomberg News, which found that 19 of 57 agencies failed to provide responses within the six-month timeframe,” the report reads. “Our findings largely confirm the Bloomberg report; we calculated a non-response rate of 25 percent (only slightly less than the 33 percent found by Bloomberg).”
Cause of Action noted that they have plans to continue to probe the openness of this administration.

US Plans to Let Spy Agencies Scour Americans' Finances

Wednesday, 13 Mar 2013 09:33 PM
The Obama administration is drawing up plans to give all U.S. spy agencies full access to a massive database that contains financial data on American citizens and others who bank in the country, according to a Treasury Department document seen by Reuters.
The proposed plan represents a major step by U.S. intelligence agencies to spot and track down terrorist networks and crime syndicates by bringing together financial databanks, criminal records and military intelligence. The plan, which legal experts say is permissible under U.S. law, is nonetheless likely to trigger intense criticism from privacy advocates.
Financial institutions that operate in the United States are required by law to file reports of "suspicious customer activity," such as large money transfers or unusually structured bank accounts, to Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).
Editor's Note: Startling Proof of the End of America’s Middle Class. Details in the Video
The Federal Bureau of Investigation already has full access to the database. However, intelligence agencies, such as the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency, currently have to make case-by-case requests for information to FinCEN.
The Treasury plan would give spy agencies the ability to analyze more raw financial data than they have ever had before, helping them look for patterns that could reveal attack plots or criminal schemes.
The planning document, dated March 4, shows that the proposal is still in its early stages of development, and it is not known when implementation might begin.
Financial institutions file more than 15 million "suspicious activity reports" every year, according to Treasury. Banks, for instance, are required to report all personal cash transactions exceeding $10,000, as well as suspected incidents of money laundering, loan fraud, computer hacking or counterfeiting.
"For these reports to be of value in detecting money laundering, they must be accessible to law enforcement, counter-terrorism agencies, financial regulators, and the intelligence community," said the Treasury planning document.
A Treasury spokesperson said U.S. law permits FinCEN to share information with intelligence agencies to help detect and thwart threats to national security, provided they adhere to safeguards outlined in the Bank Secrecy Act. "Law enforcement and intelligence community members with access to this information are bound by these safeguards," the spokesperson said in a statement.
Some privacy watchdogs expressed concern about the plan when Reuters outlined it to them.
A move like the FinCEN proposal "raises concerns as to whether people could find their information in a file as a potential terrorist suspect without having the appropriate predicate for that and find themselves potentially falsely accused," said Sharon Bradford Franklin, senior counsel for the Rule of Law Program at the Constitution Project, a non-profit watchdog group.
Despite these concerns, legal experts emphasize that this sharing of data is permissible under U.S. law. Specifically, banks' suspicious activity reporting requirements are dictated by a combination of the Bank Secrecy Act and the USA PATRIOT Act, which offer some privacy safeguards.
National security experts also maintain that a robust system for sharing criminal, financial and intelligence data among agencies will improve their ability to identify those who plan attacks on the United States.
"It's a war on money, war on corruption, on politically exposed persons, anti-money laundering, organized crime," said Amit Kumar, who advised the United Nations on Taliban sanctions and is a fellow at the Democratic think tank Center for National Policy.
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
The Treasury document outlines a proposal to link the FinCEN database with a computer network used by U.S. defense and law enforcement agencies to share classified information called the Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System.
The plan calls for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence — set up after 9/11 to foster greater collaboration among intelligence agencies — to work with Treasury. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence declined to comment.
More than 25,000 financial firms — including banks, securities dealers, casinos, and money and wire transfer agencies — routinely file "suspicious activity reports" to FinCEN. The requirements for filing are so strict that banks often over-report, so they cannot be accused of failing to disclose activity that later proves questionable. This over-reporting raises the possibility that the financial details of ordinary citizens could wind up in the hands of spy agencies.
Stephen Vladeck, a professor at American University's Washington College of Law, said privacy advocates have already been pushing back against the increased data-sharing activities between government agencies that followed the Sept. 11 attacks.
"One of the real pushes from the civil liberties community has been to move away from collection restrictions on the front end and put more limits on what the government can do once it has the information," he said.
Michael German, senior policy counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union, said that U.S. officials had floated a similar scheme to pool such data a decade ago, but that funding for the plan was later withdrawn by Congress.
He said one of the problematic aspects of the plan is that there is "wiggle room" on how the information will be used. In the past, the National CounterTerrorism Center, which is supposed to ensure that critical threat information is shared among various agencies, was obliged to "promptly identify and purge any innocent U.S. person information."
But the guidelines were subsequently loosened so that "not only can they keep the data for a number of years, but they can continue to use it," German said.
Once spy agencies get such data, German said, "it's in a black hole. Time and again, we have evidence, unfortunately well after the fact, that somebody's civil rights have been violated, that the intelligence community simply ignores the rules."

Obama's Latest Screw Up May Lead to Impeachment.

Dear GOPUSA Reader,
Fearing the very worst, the nation's super-rich are unloading their stocks at an alarming rate.
Even more troubling, the wealthiest 1% of Americans, who typically know the most, are the ones
most anxious to sell.
You see, Obama just allowed 13 new tax increases to further slow the economy, wreck the stock market and make it even harder on the 12 million Americans already looking for work.
The bigger question is this…
Is Obama's Latest Tax
Screw Up Grounds
For Impeachment?

The poll results are likely to shock you.
Cast your vote now to see what America thinks.

Yes, impeach
President Obama? Or No, higher taxes were necessary?
Thanks for your time on this urgent matter.

Philip Riggio:
An airplane was about to crash; there were 5 passengers on
board, but only 4 parachutes. The first passenger, Holly Madison
said, "I have my own reality show and I am the smartest and
prettiest woman at Playboy, so Americans don't want me to
die." She took the first pack and jumped out of the plane.

The second passenger, John McCain, said, "I'm a Senator, and a
decorated war hero from an elite Navy unit from the United
States of America." So he grabbed the second pack and jumped.

The third passenger, Barack Obama said, "I am the President of
the United States and I am the smartest ever in the history of
our country, some even call me the 'Anointed One.'" So he
grabbed the pack next to him and jumped out.

The fourth passenger, Billy Graham said to the fifth
passenger, a 10-year-old schoolgirl, "I have lived a full life
and served my God the best I could. I will sacrifice my life and let
you have the last parachute."

The little girl said, "That's okay, Mr. Graham. There's a
parachute left for you.
America 's smartest President took my schoolbag."
