Esta falta de conocimiento, producida
por la política liberal que no quiere reconocer la diferencia entre la energía
nuclear comercial y la militar, ha creado la situación de tener como “expertos”
a personas que no están capacitadas y que hablan más por agendas políticas que
por investigaciones serias de la situación. Esto hace que veamos situaciones
como la de la noticia arriba en la un departamento del gobierno dice una cosa y
otro la niega, para después afirmarlo y volverlo a negar.
El departamento de defensa ayer dijo
que Corea del Norte podía disparar un cohete, con una cabeza nuclear, hoy el
pentágono dice que no.
Esta situación crea un estado, no
solo de incertidumbre pero de peligro a la seguridad nacional.
Es posible y probable que el gordito
Kim sólo esté amenazando para que le den más comida, es posible que su arma de
destrucción sea mándanos un chile picante para intentar matarnos de diarrea,
pero no importa, cualquiera que sea la realidad, la falta de uniformidad en
cuanto a la verdadera disponibilidad de las armas nucleares de una nación
enemiga, es preocupante, porque hoy es Corea, pero mañana pudiera ser otra
potencia que realmente nos pudiera atacar y destruir.

Frustran atentado con explosivos contra el alguacil Joe Arpaio.
(CNN) — Autoridades estadounidenses interceptaron
un paquete sospechoso con explosivos que se dirigía a la oficina del alguacil
de Maricopa, Arizona, Joe Arpaio.
El inspector del Correo de Estados Unidos en Flagstaff, Andrew Rivas,
escaneó el paquete el jueves y concluyó que era lo suficientemente sospechoso
como para llamar al escuadrón local de policía antibombas y al FBI.“Evacuamos la oficina postal, pusimos a todos nuestros empleados a salvo”, dijo Rivas a KTVK, afiliada de CNN.
La oficina del condado de Maricopa dijo que Flagstaff escaneó el paquete y lo neutralizó el jueves por la noche.
Rivas y las autoridades tienen una idea de dónde pudo haber venido el paquete pero declinaron especificarlo porque la investigación está en marcha.
Flagstaff se ubica a 16 kilómetros al norte de Phoenix, en el condado de Maricopa.
Arpaio ha llamado la atención a nivel nacional durante años por su particular –y controversial– estilo para aplicar la justicia.

Los críticos de Arpaio dicen que tiene un largo historial de lanzar investigaciones criminales sin sustento contra sus oponentes políticos y cualquiera que se ponga en su camino.
Pero el alcalde es mejor conocido por sus políticas antiinmigración, las cuales han sido objeto de acusaciones por violar los derechos civiles.
Arpaio fue el sujeto de una demanda civil por parte del Departamento de Justicia por supuestamente violar los derechos civiles. De acuerdo con la demanda, la oficina del alguacil ha desplegado un patrón de discriminación contra los latinos, lo que incluye un perfil racial, detenciones ilegales así como llevar a cabo redadas para detener a latinos.
Arpaio ha negado cualquier hecho de discriminación y uno de sus abogados llamó al Departamento de Justicia una “cacería de brujas”.
Su sitio de internet promociona sus políticas de “mano dura” y dice que sus cuadrillas contribuyen con miles de horas de trabajo comunitario. Las cuadrillas de hombres, en las que también hay mujeres y jóvenes, limpian las calles, pintan sobre el grafiti y entierran en el cementerio del condado a los indigentes que pierden la vida.
Tras ganar un nuevo periodo de seis años en noviembre pasado, el alcalde de 80 años dijo que no planea dejar la oficina pronto.
“Para mis críticos allá afuera, me voy a quedar aquí; en enero firmaré hasta el 2016. Así que no soy un cero a la izquierda”, dijo a una multitud de seguidores.

La Crisis Económica. Prevista hace

Aristóteles vivió hace 2400 años,
pero no hay dudas que el pensamiento de su filosofía ha afectado y afecta
nuestra manera de vivir, y tenemos que asombrarnos como viviendo en su tiempo,
pueda haber influido tanto en todas las facetas de nuestra vida moderna.
El Cristianismo, que es la búsqueda
de la verdad absoluta, fue un concepto primordial de Aristóteles,
Pero eso no es todo, si analizamos su
filosofía aplicada a la economía, Aristóteles previó la crisis económica que
estamos viviendo hoy en día.
Aristóteles, y su alumno Platón en
“La República” describieron el objetivo de la actividad económica, que es el
cuidadoso manejo de los recursos, más que el adquirir bienes
indiscriminadamente. El dinero para Aristóteles era una conveniencia pero
sin valor inherente por sí mismo.
Como algunas mercancías eran difícil
de transportar y otras eran productos perecederos, el hombre inventó el dinero
para facilitar las transacciones, en vez de los artículos de por sí. El
dinero era más conveniente, se podía llevar en una bolsa, y tenía un
valor fijado, o al menos acordado.
Pero el dinero en sí era estéril y no
productivo, como producto no tiene valor.
Con el tiempo, nos dice Aristóteles,
el hombre empezó a comprar y vender utilizando el dinero, no para satisfacer
los requerimientos naturales de suficiencia, pero para generar un máximo de
utilidad en dinero. El intercambio de productos cambió a ser el propósito
del comercio, como era antes, de acumulación de productos,
se pasó a una acumulación de dinero.
Aristóteles comprendió hace 2400 años
lo que está sucediendo en los Estados Unidos y el mundo, donde se trabaja con
déficits, imprimiendo dinero sin respaldo, como si ese papel tuviera un valor
real.
Aristóteles sugiere una solución, una
concepción de riqueza alterna. En su punto de vista, la verdadera riqueza
era finita, restringida a los artículos que eran útiles con respecto a su uso
en la vida diaria, y por lo tanto necesarios para mantener una buena vida. El
cambio de artículos por dinero con el propósito de hacer una ganancia en
dinero, era artificial y potencialmente destructiva-
El comercio, declaró Aristóteles, debe
de ser mutualmente beneficioso, dando a cada parte lo que cada uno
necesita. El propósito de usar dinero sin relación con el producto, solo
sirve a un participante a beneficiarse a costa del otro.
Aristóteles condenó a los banqueros
prestamistas que empezaban a emerger en Atenas, y como su maestro, también
Platón se refería a los prestamistas con sospecha y menosprecio. El
comercio de la usura es el más despreciable” dijo Platón en su
libro “Formas Políticas”, y con más razón, porque hace una utilidad del
dinero por sí mismo, en vez de hacerlo del proceso del cual el dinero debe de
servir.
La extensión del crédito, designado a
estimular el crecimiento económico y el desarrollo, sólo interrumpe las
operaciones comerciales y perjudican el bienestar de la comunidad.
Sobre esto Platón se refería a los
campesinos Griegos, que estaban profundamente endeudados a los banqueros, y que
perdían o tenían que vender sus fincas, reduciendo su condición de
productividad a pasividad, de afluencia a pobreza, de independencia a
esclavitud.
El hombre prudente, según
Aristóteles, ejercita la auto-responsabilidad, acumulando suficientes bienes
solo para preservar una vida abundante y virtuosa. El manejo efectivo de la
propiedad, requiere antes que nadas la disciplina del alma. Sin esto, los
hombres, caen en la rapacidad y codicia.
¿Qué diría Aristóteles en nuestros
días?
En lo privado:
Derivados de bonos hipotecarios,
préstamos de hipotecas de alto riesgo, préstamo de valores, intercambios de
incumplimiento crediticio.
En la administración del gobierno:
Déficits en los trillones, rescates
domésticos e internacionales, impresión de dinero sin respaldo, y más y más
prestamos simplemente para pagar los intereses.
Lo que estamos viviendo y lo que
Aristóteles previó es la "tormenta perfecta" para generar una
crisis económica mundial.
Estamos tan profundamente hundidos en
el abismo fiscal que ni siquiera este mismo filósofo, si resucitara, nos
pudiera ayudar sobre la desorientación en que vivimos.
En lo moral, ya no hay búsqueda de la
verdad, la filosofía de los griegos, y del Cristianismo, se ha
cambiado a la filosofía hippie.
La verdad no existe, es relativa,
cada uno tiene su verdad, y cada uno vive su vida como le plazca, no importa
las consecuencias que esto le pueda producir a su persona o a la sociedad.

Obama Admits That Medicare and Social Security Are Going Bust
Written by Gary NorthPresident Obama’s proposed budget targets seniors. It proposes a different way of calculating the consumer price index. The new way will produce lower CPI figures.
Why is this important to the budget? Because Social Security and Medicare have built-in cost-of-living adjustments. By lowering the official CPI figure, which is used to calculate benefits, the government can save money.
Will this lower the rate of increase in prices? Of course not. Will this make it cheaper for seniors to live? Of course not. But it will make it appear that Medicare and Social Security are in a slightly shallower hole.
How deep is this hole? Prof. Lawrence Kotlikoff said it was $222 trillion last summer. It’s higher today. It’s probably pushing $230 trillion today. That’s the present value of future unfunded obligations.
Will Obama’s proposal change anything fundamental? No. But he thinks it justifies his call for higher taxes.
The proposal at least caught the attention of a New York Times columnist. He wrote:
But to Mr. Obama, cost-saving changes in the nation’s fastest-growing domestic programs are more progressive than simply allowing the entitlement programs for older Americans to overwhelm the rest of the budget in future years.
What was that word? Overwhelm. You read it in The New York Times.
Did you read that right? Yes. He used it again.
The president’s views put him at the head of a small but growing faction of liberals and moderate Democrats who began arguing several years ago that unless the party agrees to changes in the entitlement benefit programs — which are growing unsustainably as baby boomers age and medical prices rise — the programs’ costs will overwhelm all other domestic spending to help the poor, the working class and children.
“The math on entitlements is just not sustainable,” said Senator Mark Warner of Virginia, one of the few Democrats to unequivocally endorse Mr. Obama’s budget. “And if you’re not finding ways to reform, where do you squeeze? Well, then you squeeze early-childhood programs, you squeeze Head Start, you squeeze education and veterans.”
What’s that again? “Not sustainable”?
What has been the response of most Democrats in Washington? Some are outraged. Others are mute. A few are supportive.
How much will the proposed tinkering with the formula save the government? $230 billion. To which are added the obligatory words: “over ten years.”
So, it will save $23 billion a year. And how far is the retirement system in the hole? Maybe $230 trillion.
Why did Obama do this? It is his way to avoid sequestration, which he agreed to in 2011. He doesn’t want a slowdown in federal spending.
Will Republicans agree to the cuts? Of course not. They will campaign against him for proposing them. Representative Greg Walden of Oregon, who is the head of the House Republicans’ campaign committee, told CNN that the budget was “a shocking attack on seniors.” Conclusion: “His words were interpreted as a signal that in the 2014 midterm elections Republican candidates will again accuse Democrats of trying to cut Medicare and Social Security. . . .”
So, the Democrats are trying to blame House Speaker John Boehner. They say the cuts are his idea.

(AP) — Authorities are investigating an explosive device addressed to Arizona's
Sheriff Joe Arpaio,
the self-proclaimed "toughest sheriff in America" known for his
strict treatment of jail
inmates and cracking down on illegal immigrants.
The device
intercepted in Flagstaff late Thursday was in a package addressed to Arpaio at
his downtown Phoenix
office, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
It appeared
suspicious, so it was X-rayed and the device was detected. A bomb squad team
neutralized the explosive, the statement said.
Arpaio's
chief deputy, Jerry
Sheridan, told The Arizona Republic that investigators
believe the package was picked up on Thursday at a rural Post Office box.
Flagstaff is about 140 miles north of Phoenix.
Tom Mangan,
a spokesman in Phoenix for the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives,
said initial reports indicated that the package was a box that may have been
damaged in transit and leaked gunpowder.
Following
the killing of a West Virginia sheriff last week, Arpaio said elected law
enforcement officials across the nation seem to be targeted.
A national
hero to conservatives on immigration issues, Arpaio himself has been the target
of numerous threats. That prompted the need for a security detail for the
lawman also known for dressing jail inmates in pink underwear and making them
sleep in tents in the heat of the Arizona desert.
A campaign
to recall Arpaio began just weeks after he started his sixth term in January.
Critics
contend Arpaio should be ousted because his office failed to adequately
investigate more than 400 sex-crimes cases, allegedly racially profiled Latinos
in its trademark immigration patrols and has cost the county $25 million in
legal settlements over treatment in county jails.
Arpaio has
denied that his deputies racially profiled Latinos in traffic patrols targeting
illegal immigration. His office has moved to clear up the sex-crime cases and
moved to prevent the problem from happening again, he said.

Fargo first-quarter profit surges 22% percent

NEW YORK -- Wells Fargo, the nation's biggest
mortgage lender, said its first-quarter profit surged 23 percent after the bank
cut expenses.
Net income available to common shareholder rose to
$4.93 billion from $4.02 billion a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, earnings were 92 cents, beating
the 89 cents forecast by Wall Street. Revenue slipped 2 percent to $21.3
billion and missed expectations.
Wells Fargo was little known outside the Western U.S.
before scooping up a teetering Wachovia in the depths of the financial crisis
in 2008. The bank has turned a profit every quarter since 2009, the year it
wrapped up its acquisition of Wachovia.
The Federal Reserve said last month that Wells Fargo
passed its annual checkup, a "stress test" to measure how a bank
would fare in a severe recession. The Fed cleared the bank to raise its
quarterly dividend by a nickel to 30 cents per share.
