For the first time since
the Sept. 11, 2012 Benghazi attacks, the four-star general in charge of U.S.
military assets in the Africa region will testify before Congress about what
happened that night.The hearing has been scheduled for June 26 at 9:00 a.m. ET and will be held by the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.
Although the hearing will be closed to the public, retired Gen. Carter Ham will finally be questioned about his oversight of military assets in the region while dozens of Americans battled extremists for nearly eight hours in Benghazi on Sept. 11 and 12 . No U.S. military assets other than an unarmed drone were ever provided to assist in the fight.

When The Guardian
and The Washington Post published their articles on Edward Snowden, his
sharing classified material on top-secret NSA programs including the PRISM
surveillance program with them, the immediate response from many public figures
was a dichomty. Some called him a hero while others labeled him a
traitor. At the time I thought giving him the title “hero” was a bit too
hyperbolic but I do admit to being on his side. I was glad to have had
him expose such an egregious violation of protections afforded every citizen
under Amendment IV no matter they were passed by Congress, enacted by the
signature of the President and a judge okayed the whole. As Judge Andrew
Napolitano opines, “That may make it legal but it does not make it
Constitutional.” The lastest revelation about America’s surveillance of
China has me turning my opinion, it is one thing to tell us what our government
is doing to us, an entirely different matter to discuss intelligence gathering
from other nations, the hows, whos and whys.But almost before this information was made public, many people including any number of elected officials were deeming what Snowden did as traitorous. On June 11 when asked by ABC’s George Stephanopolous, Speaker of the House John Boehner what he thought of Snowden, Boehner didn’t wait for the end of the question before spitting out “He’s a traitor,” the indignant tone and the anger on his face evident. I only make note because he has this opinion formed right quick while we are still waiting for him to stop dragging his feet and set up a Special Select Committee to investigate the Administration’s transgressions on Benghazi, the IRS, EPA, now we can add the NSA.
There are too many committees of jurisdiction to do the investigations justice, but for some reason, Boehner continues to hold off his House colleagues who have requested just such a committee. Snowden may be a traitor for revealing classified information, especially in the manner he did. But how less a violation did the president commit the night of September 11, 2012 when he was informed of the armed assault on the Benghazi compound, sovereign U.S. soil, yet he did no more than attempt a hand-off to Secretary Panetta and then left the room to speak with no one, check up on the situation with no one all night? Why are we here nine months later with no detail as to where he went or even why he left in the first place? Where is Boehner’s curiosity, to put it mildly?
Now we have revealed to us that there are seventy Republican members of the House who are demanding of Boehner a conference meeting on the upcoming bill regarding the immigration legislation. Some of them have let it be known that apparently a deal was struck between Boehner, Nancy Pelosi, and President Obama that first a bill will be brought to the Floor, then once it passes a conference committee will be formed to have the language comport with the language of the Senate bill. When that comes back to the House for Final Passage all the Democrats will vote “yea” along the Republicans necessary, the committee chairmen who wish to keep that position and anyone else who is threatened to lose some committee assignment he wishes to keep will vote “yea” as well, the legislation will pass and be signed by Obama. Legislation that has already had the amendment to secure the border first before any amnesty is offered was defeated in the Senate; all the members of the so-called “Gang of Eight” voted against it. So much for Marco Rubio and his protestations as to how he would not support a bill that did not secure the border first. An unsecure border is not about Mexicans; how many nefarious people from other countries, Saudi Arabia, included, are waltzing in through the wide open Southern door? Is there not some manner of traitorous behavior with this whole procedure?
It depends on what your definition of ‘traitor’ is.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court handed down one of
its first major decisions of this term, striking down Arizona’s measure
requiring proof of citizenship for voter registration. Media reports are
already off base in interpreting this decision, says Heritage legal expert Hans
von Spakovsky. Here are three things to know about the decision.

In 2004, Arizona voters
overwhelmingly approved a referendum that had two major components: voter ID
for in-person voting and a requirement that anyone registering to vote provide
proof of citizenship. The voter ID provision was not before the Supreme
Court and is alive and well in Arizona. (emphasis added)
Although it did not strike down the provision that requires a photo ID for in-person voting, von Spakovsky said “the Supreme Court came down on the wrong side of election integrity” with this ruling.
2. Federal law already mandates that a person must be a U.S. citizen to vote.
The Court’s ruling does not mean that requiring proof of citizenship is bad or wrong. In fact, people are supposed to vote only if they are citizens.
The Court ruled the way it did because there is already a federal law requiring people to affirm that they are U.S. citizens when they register to vote. Most people register using the federal mail-in form under the “Motor Voter” law. The majority of the justices said that federal requirement “preempts” Arizona’s requirement, which simply means the federal law comes first.
But Arizona residents can register to vote using the federal form or a state form. Von Spakovsky notes that “Arizona can continue to require proof of citizenship for anyone who registers using the state form.”
3. States do determine the qualifications of their voters.
If Arizona has information about a voter that shows he or she is not eligible to vote, then the state still decides who is a legitimate voter.
Von Spakovsky says:
The Court specifically noted that
under our Constitution, states have the exclusive right to determine the
qualifications of voters in federal elections, and Arizona can deny
registration to anyone who submits a federal form if it has other information
in its possession that establishes the ineligibility of the applicant.
Making sure that only U.S. citizens are voting is vital to the integrity of American elections. This Supreme Court decision basically kept the status quo, and meanwhile, voting reforms are needed.

Huge “Audit the IRS” Rally in DC This Week
There is going to be a HUGE rally in Washington, D.C. this week to demand an audit of the IRS. I’ll be there covering it for PolitiChicks.tv and will give you a report later this week.In the spirit of what Becky Gerritson of Wetumpka Tea Party so elegantly said in her testimony before the House Ways and Means Committee:
“We are patriotic Americans. We peacefully assemble. We petition our government. We exercise our right to free speech and we don’t understand why our government tried to stop us. We aren’t here as serfs or vassals. We’re not begging our lords for mercy. We are born free American citizens and we’re telling our government that you’ve forgotten your place. It’s not your responsibility to look out for our wellbeing and monitor our speech. It’s not your right to assert an agenda. The post that you occupy exists to preserve American liberty. You’ve sworn to perform that duty and you have faltered.”
Our government may have faltered on its own responsibilities. But when duty calls, the American people have a long history of rising to the occasion. Needless to say, busloads of Patriots are heading to the capital on Wednesday, June 19th to peacefully assemble, to petition our government, and to exercise our right to free speech. Isn’t it time that Washington sees first-hand just how outraged the American people are by these discriminatory acts of the IRS? Isn’t it time to audit the IRS?

The real scandal: According observer status to the world’s most powerful leader
Sol W. SandersOne of the more bizarre aspects of the current deluge of Washington scandals is that their very numbers permit President Barack Obama to finesse and continue to play a role as No. 1 observer and chief political fundraiser.
The almost weekly additions to news of the administration’s dereliction of duty and corruption diffuse public concern and deflect the critics including the Republicans [with what appears poor staff work].
There is no zeroing in on substantial targets to maximize the political effect.
It would take, indeed, a Solomon to distinguish which one scandal is of more serious concern for the well-being and adequate functioning of the Republic.
All threaten the trust and confidence in a limited government once inherent in the traditional and unique American constitutional system.
- Would it be the incompetence of the Bureau of Firearms, Tobacco and Alcohol – the name no more anachronistic than its operations apparently – which so bungled an effort to track Mexican drug cartel weaponry that it ended up supplying guns for the murderer of American agents?
- Or would it be a State Dept. security apparatus so politicized by the maybe 2016 candidate for president that it neglected to prepare in chaotic Libya for an attack on the anniversary of 9/11? Or worse still, who gave a still unaccounted “stand down” order in the military chain of command – is it not headed by the president-commander-in-chef? – dishonoring the U.S. warrior code requiring that no man be left behind? Instead, four brave Americans, an ambassador and three of his defenders, were left to die at the hands of especially barbaric opponents.
- Or is the use of the world’s most efficient tax-collecting system and therefore its most powerful bureaucracy to harass and inhibit political opponents?
- Examining charges of pedophilia and prostitution and an assortment of other “minor” offenses among American diplomats will, presumably, continue to be swept under the diplomatic red carpet. Betwixt the repeated denials of knowledge of the workings of their own bureaucracy and admissions of guilt, so-called “acceptance of responsibility” has become a meaningless cliché. No one gets fired, some get promoted, and others are put on “administrative leave” continuing to pull down inflated salaries and bonuses. And former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who told us “what differences does it make” that she and others lied to the public about the origins of this major disaster, ends her tenure at one of our most important government bureaucracies apparently unscathed.
- The Obama administration has even shot itself in the foot – and created a serious constitutional issue – by its illegal pursuit of a largely docile media. Conspiracy to injure U.S. national interest is not, of course, outside the bounds of investigation of the media, especially when such an old paranoid anti-American voice as The Guardian is involved. The footnote is critical that the Attorney-General of the U.S. – after being turned down by two judges – charged in his search warrant for a Fox reporter’s personal papers and communications that he was in pursuit of a criminal charge under the espionage law. His claim now he never had any intention to pursue it but simply a ruse to get the judge’s permission is a cardinal offense for our major executive law-enforcer. How many more violations of the law, from contempt of Congress to charges of perjury, must there be before he goes.
But it is abundantly clear that the authorities, in order to prevent more 9/11s and, hopefully, the even more demanding prevention of Boston Marathon Bombings, must cast a wide net. In a digital age when terrorists use the internet to evangelize, to recruit, to offer weapons for lone wolf candidates, and to plan their atrocities, vast worldwide data compilation including from the domestic scene is required. However difficult, one has to assume that this is a method to avoid even more and larger incidents. The episode also has brought into question the growing reliance of the government on “Beltway bandits” with their contractual access to government secrets but what appears to be an inability to protect them.
The scandals, covered in its own inimitable way by a mainstream media as a willing culprit through its outrageous partisanship with the President, have had a devastating role on public opinion. They have increased cynicism about political life, further discrediting the Congress. But they have even inevitably eaten into the rockstar adoration the U.S.’ self-anointed media, bureaucratic and Hollywood elite has lavished on Mr. Obama.
With details of each of these violations of the public trust being obscured as the next one comes tumbling out, the difficult job of periodically reexamining governance in any democratic society and making reforms is being taxed to its fullest.What is certainly happening, however, is that the important domestic and foreign policy issues are being ignored or manhandled.Mr. Obama’s continuing war against American business is further aggravating the incredibly difficult job of restoring maximum employment as the economy tries to adjust to the ever-expanding ramifications of the digital revolution.
Abroad the President’s team continues to disparage the accomplishments of U.S. leadership in the post-World War II era, seeking to substitute corrupt and incapable international organizations for American leadership.
In the Mideast Mr. Obama is hoisted on his own petard, having denounced the interventionism of the previous Bush Administrations and precipitously ended commitments in Iraq and Afghanistan assuring minimum continued U.S. regional influence, he is now forced to confront the perilous decision-making of intervention in Syria.
He neglected possible opportunities earlier on to take advantage of the opposition to the Assad Syrian regime – as with his earlier refusal to exploit growing popular antagonism to the mullahs in Iran.
Now Mr. Obama is forced to try to affect the outcome of events in Damascus with jihadists and their allies playing a larger and larger role in the opposition to Assad. Not to do so is to risk an explosive regional war in the area involving one of his announced most trusted colleague, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s Turkey as well as Israel and the Arab states. Or worse still, a failure to turn the Assad regime out would install the long arm of Iran on the Mediterranean in Syria and through Hizbullah in Lebanon and crown it the region’s hegemonic power over much of the world’s oil supply.
Meanwhile, Washington for the first time since 1945 is not playing its traditional role as conciliator in the Europeans’ greatest economic crisis since postwar reconstruction. That’s despite the fact the U.S. sells three times more to the Europeans than to China. This absenteeism is, granted, largely because of the debilitated situation in Washington’s own economy but it is also part of the Obama lead from behind which given scant priority to a proposed trans-Atlantic free trade agreement.
In East Asia, the Obama administration’s has neglected its principal ally at a time when the Japanese for their own reasons [namely aggressive Chinese and North Korean neighbors and an effort to energize its economy] are now poised to play as equal partners. The absurdity of repeated formulaic pronouncements on North Korea have now permitted that failed state to go on the offensive diplomatically as it continues its mass weapons buildup. Wishful thinking about China’s beneficial role in taming Pyongyang is only part of a passive and unrealistic attitude toward a half dozen major outstanding issues with an unfair trading partner and rapidly arming and aggressive Beijing.
All this poses the question as to how much the U.S. – and the world – will pay for another three years of its all-powerful chief executive as an observer above the fray substituting for leadership.

Benghazi Scandal Takes Another Turn Against Obama and Clinton
It seems that in the wake of the IRS and NSA scandals that the Benghazi scandal has almost been forgotten. However the recent admission of Martin Dempsey, Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff, is certain to bring it all back into the limelight.In the weeks following the Sept. 11, 2012 attack on the US Consulate grounds in Benghazi, The White House and State Department both said that there were no troops or Special Forces that could have reached the consulate in time to help them, even though there were reports that said otherwise.
Now we learn that both the White House (Obama) and the State Department (Clinton) were again lying to the American people. According to a statement from Dempsey, a highly trained team of Special Forces, C-110, were within a few hours of Benghazi. The consulate reported that they were under attack early on and the attack lasted over 8 hours. If Dempsey is telling the truth, the Special Forces unit could have been there and possibly save the lives of the four Americans.
Dempsey tried to protect the White House and State Department by first saying that the Special Forces unit was more than 6 hours away and that was only if they were setting on the tarmac at the time. He did acknowledge that the unit was training in Croatia. A large commercial jet liner can make the trip in about two and half hours, and sources close to the unit said they could have loaded up and flown to Benghazi in about four to four and half hours.
He also testified that the Special Forces unit had been told to begin preparations to leave Croatia to return to the base in Germany. If that were true, then they would have already been preparing their gear for transport which would have cut their arrival time to Benghazi down.
Dempsey’s testimony before the Senate did verify a report that was aired on Fox News back in April that said there was a Special Forces unit close enough to have responded to the call for help from the consulate. The Fox News report quoted a whistleblower source as saying:
“We had the ability to load out, get on birds and fly there, at a minimum stage. “C-110 had the ability to be there, in my opinion, in a matter of about four hours … four to six hours.”
“They would have been there before the second attack. They would have been there at a minimum to provide a quick reaction force that could facilitate their exfil [sic] out of the problem situation. Nobody knew how it was going to develop. And you hear a whole bunch of people and a whole bunch of advisers say hey, we wouldn’t have sent them there because, you know, the security was unknown situation.”
To add more controversy to what was reported and what really happened, Dempsey told the Senate hearing that on the night of the Benghazi attack, the command of the Special Forces unit was unexpectedly transferred from the European Command to the Africa Command. Former Libyan Deputy Ambassador to Libya Gregory Hicks testified earlier that when he got word of the attack, he tried to contact the Africa Command but received no support. He said:
“At about 10:45 or 11 we confer, and I asked the defense attache who had been talking about AFRICOM and with the joint staff, ‘Is anything coming? Will they be sending us any help? Is there something out there?’ And he answered that, the nearest help was in Aviano, the nearest – where there were fighter planes. He said that it would take two to three hours for them to get onsite, but that there also were no tankers available for them to refuel. And I said, ‘Thank you very much,’ and we went on with our work.”
So even in his attempt to support the White House and Statement Department, Dempsey only helped verify the earlier reports that help could have been sent to Benghazi, but it wasn’t. The help could have possibly arrived in time to make a difference, but no attempt or effort was made to save the Americans at the consulate. Our government deserted our ambassador and his staff and just left them there to fend for themselves against nearly 200 hostiles.
Perhaps this needs to be pointed out to anyone interested in pursuing a diplomatic career with the State Department. Once deployed on foreign shores, you’re on your own, especially if you are in a known hostile region and the President and Secretary of State will lie to your families as your body is returned to them. China joins calls for explanations of US surveillance programs
BEIJING (AP) -- China on Monday
joined calls for Washington to provide explanations following disclosures of
National Security Agency programs which collect millions of telephone records
and track foreign Internet activity on U.S. networks.
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua
Chunying told reporters that Washington needs to heed international concerns
expressed since the programs were made public earlier this month by former NSA
contractor Edward Snowden.
Officials and lawmakers in Germany
and other countries are already pressing Washington for information about the
collection of information that might affect their citizens' privacy.
"We think that the United
States should regard seriously the concerns and demands of the global community
and people from all countries and furnish the global community with a necessary
explanation," Hua said at a regularly scheduled briefing.
Snowden flew to the Chinese
autonomous region of Hong Kong on May 20 and is believed to still be there,
though in hiding at an unknown location. China hasn't said whether it would
cooperate with any U.S. demands for his extradition, and Hong Kong's Western-style
legal system that is distinct from that on the Chinese mainland allows
opportunities for him to appeal.
U.S. officials have defended the
surveillance programs as essential to disrupting terrorist plots.
Former Vice President Dick Cheney
said Sunday he was "very, very worried" that Snowden would pass on
sensitive information to China in return for immunity or sanctuary.
Asked whether Snowden was a Chinese
spy or cooperating with Beijing, Hua answered, "This is complete
nonsense."

Age 76 Today, I went to the Dr. for my monthly B12 shot that I have been getting for a number of years. The nurse came and got me, got out the needle filled and ready to go then looked at the computer and got very quiet and asked if I was prepared to pay for it. I said no that my insurance takes care of it.
She said, that Medicare had turned it down and went to talk to my Dr. about it. 15 minutes later she came back and said, she was sorry but they had tried every-thing they could but Medicare is beginning to turn many things away for seniors because of the projected Obama Care coming in. Undercover video investigator James O’Keefe of Project Veritas has turned the
tables on a top New Hampshire law official who tried to indict him for a video
sting that exposed vote fraud in the state.
In his
latest video, O’Keefe – employing the confrontational style that made Mike
Wallace famous – showed up at the office of state Associate Attorney General
Richard Head with a microphone, three video cameramen and a copy of O’Keefe’s new
book, set for release Tuesday, which features an entire chapter on Head and the
voter-fraud case.
O’Keefe
explains in the opening scene of his video, outside the New Hampshire
Department of Justice, that he planned to go inside and ask Head why he had not
responded to his Freedom of Information Act request to Head’s office May 8,
2012, asking for all communications Head had with U.S. Attorney General Eric
Holder.
“We all
know that the Justice Department has been spying on the Associated Press,”
O’Keefe says in his introduction. “What you may not know is that the attorney
general’s office here in New Hampshire tried to indict myself and my colleagues
last year for exposing voter fraud.”
The episode
began in January 2012 when O’Keefe released a video of associates acquiring
ballots for the New Hampshire Primary by using the names of recently deceased
voters. The video, O’Keefe said at the time, showed that “the integrity of the
elections process is severely comprised.”
After the
January 2012 video was released, the New Hampshire attorney general’s office
launched a comprehensive review of state voting procedures. But Head also
announced he would investigate the possibility that O’Keefe and his associates
committed crimes by recording another person without their consent and
fraudulently obtaining a ballot.
O’Keefe and
his team, who found the names in published obituaries, insisted they broke no
laws, because they didn’t pretend to be the deceased persons when they asked
for the ballots and didn’t cast any votes.
O’Keefe is
perhaps best known for this hidden-camera recordings in 2009 that showed ACORN
employees in six cities advising him and his associate, Hannah Giles, how to
avoid detection by authorities of tax evasion, human smuggling and child
prostitution.
The U.S.
Congress subsequently voted to freeze federal funding to ACORN, and the Census
Bureau and the IRS terminated their contract relationships with the
organization.
In March
2010, ACORN announced it would dissolve due to loss of funding.
‘Did
you know about that?’
In the New
Hampshire investigation, state authorities went to the home of Project Veritas
videographer Mike Rogers in May 2012 with a criminal grand-jury subpoena for
O’Keefe.
O’Keefe
wanted to know how state officials knew they could find O’Keefe at Rogers’ home
and filed the public-records request. He received no answer.
In the
latest video, O’Keefe poses his unanswered questions directly to Head on
camera.
O’Keefe
recalls to Head that state officials sent agents to Rogers’ house in what he
described as a “raid.”
“The family
felt terrorized based on what happened,” O’Keefe tells Head. “Did you know
about that, that they went into his house in the dead of night and they showed
pictures … and they tried to indict me for our voter-fraud work in the state of
New Hampshire showing ballots being offered out in the names of the dead?
“Why,”
O’Keefe asks, “did the state of New Hampshire … try to indict me for doing
investigative reporting?”
Head
replies that O’Keefe was asking “a slightly loaded question in terms of the way
it was phrased.”
“I would
not describe the effort of a prosecutor to locate you during the course of an
investigation of some work you had done in the state of New Hampshire in the
way that you characterized it,” the New Hampshire official says.
Head
admits, however, he was aware that an investigator talked to family members of
Mike Rogers in an attempt to locate O’Keefe.
O’Keefe
then asks if the investigator had a subpoena from a grand jury before he went
to Rogers’ house?
“I’m not
commenting on anything in terms of, relating to, grand jury work,” Head
replies.
On camera,
O’Keefe gave Head a copy of O’Keefe’s new book, “Breakthrough,” which devotes a
chapter to the New Hampshire official titled “The Rise of Richard Head.”
The
chapter, according to O’Keefe, recounts how Head sent a certified letter to a
woman named Nadia Naffe, asking her to turn over seven years of emails from
O’Keefe’s Gmail account that O’Keefe believed she obtained illegally.
O’Keefe
asked Head on camera why he made the request if the emails were obtained
illegally.
In the
video, Head says he only had information that Naffe possessed the emails and
didn’t know how she had obtained them.
“At that
time we were in an investigation,” Head says. “Those emails may have been
useful. And since she had possession of them, I made a request for them.”
After
O’Keefe’s investigation, the New Hampshire legislature passed a voter ID law,
overturning the veto of Gov. John Lynch, a Democrat.
Lynch had
condemned the Project Veritas video probe, calling for an investigation of
O’Keefe.
“I think it
is outrageous that we have out-of-staters coming into New Hampshire, coming
into our polling places and misrepresenting themselves to the election officials,”
Lynch said at the time, “and I hope that they should be prosecuted to the
fullest extent of the law, if in fact they’re found guilty of some criminal
act.”
‘Easy’
election fraud
Last year,
Project Veritas conducted a series of investigations in more than a dozen
states “demonstrating the ease with which election fraud can be committed and
legitimate voters can be disenfranchised.”
A video
sting by O’Keefe, first reported
by WND,
prompted the resignation of Democratic campaign staffer Patrick Moran, the son
of Rep. Jim Moran son, and a criminal investigation by the Arlington County Police
Department in Northern Virginia, near Washington, D.C. Prosecutors decided not
to press charges.

La publicación de la encuesta también llega mientras algunos senadores del Partido Republicano alistan una enmienda al proyecto de ley de la "Banda de los Ocho" que dice que ellos reforzaría aún más la seguridad fronteriza. Sesenta y dos por ciento de los entrevistados en la encuesta dijo que la seguridad fronteriza debe ser el foco principal de la política de inmigración de EE.UU., mientras un 36% que afirma que la creación de un posible camino hacia la ciudadanía para los inmigrantes indocumentados debe ser la máxima prioridad.
"Los republicanos y los independientes apoyan fuertemente hacer de la seguridad fronteriza la principal preocupación, e incluso los demócratas están divididos sobre esta cuestión", añade Holland.
También hay una brecha generacional, con las personas entre 18 y 34 divididas sobre lo que consideran es más importante, mientras que la gran mayoría de las personas de 35 años o más dice que la seguridad fronteriza debe ser la máxima prioridad cuando se trata de la política de inmigración.

Sin embargo, la encuesta indica que la mayoría de los estadounidenses no dan a Obama el pulgar hacia arriba sobre el tema. Sólo cuatro de cada diez dicen que aprueban el trabajo que está haciendo en materia de inmigración ilegal, mientras el 56% dijo que desaprueba su desempeño en el tema. Esos números han cambiado poco en las encuestas de CNN desde 2009, primer año del presidente en la Casa Blanca.
La encuesta fue realizada para CNN por ORC Internacional, entre el 11 y el 13 de junio, con 1.014 adultos en todo el país consultados por teléfono. El error general del muestreo de la encuesta es de más o menos tres puntos porcentuales.
