Las Extrañas Defensas de Eric Holder y Joe García. Alberto L Pérez. “amenper”

Hay defensas que son peores que el delito, como en el cuento de alguien que le toca el trasero a otra persona y cuando el otro se vira se excusa diciéndole que lo perdone que se había confundido y creía que era su esposa.

También la defensa de alguien que da una bofetada a otro y después le dice que no le dió una bofetada pero que le estaba aplaudiendo en la cara.

En un artículo del Wall Street Journal que pueden leer abajo, el articulista se asombra de como Eric Holder presenta como excusa de que no ha cometido una violación de perjurio en el caso de la investigación de James Rosen, porque él nunca realmente creyó que fuera un conspirador y no lo iban a juzgar. Por favor entonces estás confesando que además de perjuro eres un farsante.

Localmente Joe García se excusa de que su campaña cometió el crimen de fraude electoral diciendo que sucedió porque en Miami el fraude es algo cultural, que todo el mundo lo hace y que como Holder y Obama él no sabía que esto estaba pasando. Por favor entonces estás confesando que además de ser un criminal eres un ignorante incapacitado y que no estás ni siquiera arrepentido.

Hasta cierto punto, Joe García tiene razón, el fraude es algo cultural en Miami. Aunque, por favor no nos echen la culpa a los cubanos, El partido demócrata, que prácticamente tenía el monopolio político en los años 50 y 60 era intrínsecamente corrupto, y antes de Maurice Ferré no existían los latinos.

Lo que han hecho los políticos actuales es adaptar la corrupción a los tiempos modernos. Primeros fueron “wasp” (White anglo saxon protestant) después entraron los negros y después algunos latinos, todos demócratas y después los cubanos demócratas y republicanos.

Lo que ha hecho Joe García es modernizar el fraude llevándolo a la época cibernética. Pero es simplemente un criminal moderno, es un criminal más sofisticado. Y mientras más efectivo es un criminal, más perjudicial su existencia en la comunidad.

Es triste ver al punto que ha llegado la cultura de la corrupción en el área de Miami-Dade que un político acepte implicitamente su culpabilidad con la excusa de que “todos lo hacen”.y con el moderno pretexto demócrata de que "el no sabía nada" añadiendo insullto a la afrenda- El pueblo tiene que sentirse como en el dicho cubano Cabrón y apaleado.

No creo que la corrupción sea exclusividad de los demócratas, pero sin lugar a dudas, los más desfachatados en su fraudulencia son los demócratas, lo vemos en el caso de Joe García, y lo vemos a nivel nacional en el caso de Eric Holder y el presidente Obama..

Lo siento en este caso local, porque a nivel nacional, y sin lugar a dudas esta noticia tendrá visibilidad nacional, mencionarán el accidente que Joe García es cubano, perjudicando las percepción del cubano en el país.

Pero el problema aquí no es que Joe García es cubano o que Eric Holder es negro, el problema es que el partido Demócrata ha ido degenerando progresivamente a ser, a todos los niveles, un partido con la característica del fraude típico de los países totalitarios, un fraude con excusas que como en el cuento tocan el trasero del pueblo no enseña remordimientos.

Tanto a nivel local como a nivel nacional, el fraude y el crimen político no tienen razón de ser en una democracia, si existe, la culpa es de todos. Es hora que la ciudadanía sea selectiva a la hora de votar y castigue a los que nos están tocando el trasero.

Holder's Odd Defense. Justice now says its affidavit against a Fox News reporter wasn't true.

As they try to save Attorney General Eric Holder's job, not to mention his reputation, Obama Administration officials are employing some strange logic to defend the Justice Department's investigation of journalists. It'll be interesting to see if our liberal friends in the media buy it.

In its 2010 affidavit seeking a warrant to search the email of Fox News reporter James Rosen, Justice said there was "probable cause" to believe Mr. Rosen "has committed or is committing a violation" of the Espionage Act "as an aider and abettor and/or co-conspirator." That sounds like a serious criminal charge, and Mr. Holder personally approved the warrant request.

Yet now, amid a media uproar, Mr. Holder's spinners are saying Justice never intended to prosecute Mr. Rosen. But if that's true, then the Department's warrant affidavit contained false claims about Mr. Rosen. Prosecutorial dishonesty is more common than it should be, but Justice officials don't usually cop to it as a way of defending an Attorney General. Should judges assume that the "probable cause" and "co-conspirator" claims in Justice's next warrant request are also a ruse?

The other odd assertion is that President Obama and Mr. Holder now suddenly want to revise the Justice Department's guidelines on dealing with journalists. But the current guidelines already require prosecutors to investigate journalists only as a last resort, inform the media organization of the request to see if a compromise can be worked out, and then narrowly tailor any request in order to limit damage to the First Amendment. So we are now supposed to believe that the same man who ignored these current rules in pursuing Mr. Rosen is going to write new rules that he and his minions will suddenly follow. Aren't Attorneys General supposed to obey the law from the start?

More Fraud in FL – Dem. Joe Garcia’s Chief of Staff Resigns After Admitting to Absentee Ballot Scheme

This has to be an imaginary story, right? Most Democrats and others on the left continue to insist that voter fraud is not a problem, even in the face of examples like Minnesota U.S. Senator Al Franken, whose 312-vote “victory” margin in 2008 may have entirely consisted (and then some) of illegal votes by felons in just one county.

More recently, it seems that the claim is under revision. A Democratic Party county chair, in a Cincinnati Enquirer story about three out-of-staters who voted or attempted to vote in Ohio, is reported to have “long said there is no evidence of systemic fraud.” Well, though they were were prevented from casting illegal ballots, a Florida Democratic congressman’s chief of staff and his alleged cohorts definitely attempted large-scale “systemic” fraud last year. The Miami Herald, which played an important investigative role, had the story on Friday. A Google News search on relevant terms indicates that it’s getting very little notice (15 items in total, most in Florida). Congressman Joe Garcia’s chief of staff abruptly resigned Friday after being implicated in a sophisticated scheme to manipulate last year’s primary elections by submitting hundreds of fraudulent absentee-ballot requests.

Friday afternoon, Garcia said he had asked Jeffrey Garcia, no relation, for his resignation after the chief of staff — also the congressman’s top political strategist — took responsibility for the plot. Hours earlier, law enforcement investigators raided the homes of another of Joe Garcia’s employees and a former campaign aide in connection with an ongoing criminal investigation into the matter.

Issa warns Holder not to take ‘perjury lightly’

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) strongly suggested that Attorney General Eric Holder perjured himself before a congressional panel investigating the Justice Department’s treatment of reporters.
In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Issa warned Holder not to “use perjury lightly” when discussing his approval of a search warrant for the emails of Fox News reporter James Rosen.
“It’s hard to have confidence in what this attorney general says or what his people say,” Issa said Sunday.
The Justice Department (DOJ) is investigating Rosen for allegedly soliciting classified information from a government source.
DOJ has denied that Holder lied to the House Judiciary Committee when he said that he was never involved in the “potential prosecution of the press for the disclosure of material.”

Not Only Do Dead People Vote But They Also Collect Welfare

by Dave Jolly In 2012, we saw numerous reports of dead people voting in a number of state primary elections and the general election in November. In all likelihood, thousands of votes were cast from the grave for a number of politicians, mostly Democrats. Even more absurd was when Florida went to purge their voter rolls of dead people and non-citizens, Eric Holder’s Justice Department tried to stop them.

Now we are learning that dead people cannot only cast their ghostly ballots from beyond, but they can collect welfare as well. But wait! There’s more! Not only can they receive welfare, but some dead people only started receiving welfare after they were dead. I guess being dead prevents you from being able to work and earn a living, so you qualify for government assistance, right?
Massachusetts recently conducted an audit which revealed that the state had doled out $18 million in what they defined as ‘questionable public assistance benefits’ over recent years. Nearly 1,200 dead people were receiving some form of welfare:
“In 1,164 cases, deceased recipients continued to receive a total of $2.39 million in benefits up to 27 months after they had been reported dead. The state Department of Transitional Assistance also paid out at least $368,000 benefits to 178 guardians who claimed deceased persons as dependents, and $164,000 to 40 individuals being claimed by more than one guardian.”
Suzanne Bump, the State Auditor, discovered in the audit that some of the people receiving welfare benefits started doing so after they were dead, indicating cases of fraud (just like the liberal voting systems). There was also a significant amount of suspicious transactions on electronic benefits cards (EBT) totaling $15 million. Of those, $5 million worth of food benefits had been used all at once, which raised red flags. Five regional offices were not able to produce the necessary documentation for over 30,000 EBT cards.
The Massachusetts Department of Transitional Authority (DTA) came under attack in February when it was discovered that the department was negligent in verifying benefits recipients. The failure may have cost the state up to $25 million in payments made to non-qualifying recipients. Daniel Curley, Director of the DTA resigned in the wake of the February revelation which prompted the audit.
The ironic part is that I know some individuals who have medical conditions that prevent them from working who have been denied benefits time and again. So please tell me how a dead person can apply and receive benefits when a living person can’t?
Our government and social structure is so messed up that it allows dead people, or people assuming the identity of dead people, to vote, to collect welfare and who knows what else. The next thing you’ll know, we’ll have a dead person being elected President of the United States. After all, if you don’t have to verify your birth, you shouldn’t have to verify your death either, should you?

The Decline of the Obama Presidency

His second term is coming undone not because of scandal but because of decisions made in the previous four years.

John Dos Passos, the novelist and historian, once said: "Often things you think are just beginning are coming to an end." His observation was made in the 1960s. But it's true today of Barack Obama's presidency and the promise of a bright future for his second term.

Mr. Obama's re-election stirred grand expectations. The vote heralded a new liberal era, or so it was claimed. His victory was said to reflect ideological, cultural and demographic trends that could keep Democrats in the majority for years to come. His second four years in the White House would be just the beginning.

Now, six months later, the Obama administration is in an unexpected and sharp state of decline. Mr. Obama has little influence on Congress. His presidency has no theme. He pivots nervously from issue to issue. What there is of an Obama agenda consists, at the moment, of leftovers from his first term or proposals that he failed to emphasize in his re-election campaign and thus have practically no chance of passage.

Congressional Republicans neither trust nor fear the president. And Democrats on Capitol Hill, to whom Mr. Obama has never been close, have grown leery of him. In the Senate, Democrats complain privately about his interference with the biggest domestic policy matter of 2013, immigration reform. His effect, the senators believe, can only be to weaken the fragile bipartisan coalition for reform and make passage of major legislation more perilous.

The Obama breakdown was not caused by the trio of scandals—IRS, Justice Department, Benghazi—now confronting the president. The decline preceded them. It's the result of what Mr. Obama did in his first term, during the campaign and in the two months following his re-election. But the scandals have worsened his plight and made recovery next to impossible.

To be clear, the two problems—the decline and the scandals—are different matters. The scandals have not been linked directly to the president. They are vexing to the administration, but they are not the source of its current impotence. Instead, Mr. Obama's power and influence have been sapped as a direct result of his own choices and decisions. He also suffers from shortcomings normal to a second term, such as a new, less able team of advisers and cabinet members and the arrogance fed by an impressive re-election.

In his first term, when Democrats controlled the House and Senate, Mr. Obama ignored Republicans—he didn't need their votes to pass the $800 billion stimulus, the Affordable Care Act (aka ObamaCare) and Dodd-Frank, with its fresh wave of Wall Street regulations. Then, after Republicans captured the House in the 2010 midterm election, his efforts to reach agreements with them proved futile.

Why did Mr. Obama fail at compromise? For one thing, he is rarely able to mask his contempt for Republicans, especially those with conservative views. For another, he began to question Republicans' motives, insisting publicly that their paramount goal in Washington is to protect the rich from higher taxes. As a tactic for encouraging compromise, his approach was counterproductive.

Robert Merry, the editor of the National Interest magazine and a longtime Washington journalist, recently pinpointed a bigger reason for the impasse after 2010: "It is a deadlock born largely of the president's resolve to push an agenda for which he has no clear national consensus." In other words, Mr. Obama is too liberal to find common ground with Republicans. The spending cuts he offers are illusory, the tax increases specific.

Then, after the November election, Mr. Obama spurned conciliation. He upped the ante, calling for higher spending, a new economic stimulus and an increase in the debt limit without congressional approval. Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell laughed out loud when he heard the proposal.

Mr. Obama used his last bit of leverage to prevail over Republicans in the fiscal-cliff budget negotiations late last year. With the Bush-era tax cuts due to expire Dec. 31, the president forced Republicans to accept a hefty tax hike on the top 2% of wage earners. His short-term victory has had long-term political consequences. Republicans vowed to oppose new tax increases, which ruled out a "grand bargain" to reduce the deficit and national debt.

The exclusion of Republicans from a role in crafting ObamaCare has also backfired. By failing to ensure that the GOP had some influence on the health-care law, the president gave them no reason to support its implementation. With ObamaCare more unpopular than ever, House Republicans voted last month to repeal it. The vote was largely symbolic, but it was telling that two Democrats joined the effort. Short of repeal, Republican elected officials across the country are committed to making the law's implementation, beginning this year, as difficult as possible.

Nor is tax reform likely to get anywhere this year or next despite Mr. Obama's support, at least rhetorically, for the idea. He wants to eliminate tax preferences and loopholes so the government can collect more revenue. To win those changes, though, he would need make a bargain with Republicans, offering to cut tax rates, including the top rate on individual income, to generate faster economic growth. That clashes with Mr. Obama's zeal for higher taxes on the well-to-do.

Faced with such obstacles, the president could focus instead on his own domestic agenda—if he had one. He doesn't. He's paying the price for a re-election campaign that was based on attacking his opponent, Mitt Romney, and not much else. In the president's State of the Union address in February, he endorsed a $9 minimum wage and universal prekindergarten for 4-year-olds, but those proposals lack a popular mandate. If he had campaigned for them last year, they might have better prospects now.

More often than not, presidents focus on foreign policy in their second terms. But Mr. Obama's practice is to downgrade foreign policy in favor of domestic concerns. Where he has sought to restrain foreign governments—Russia, Iran, North Korea—he has been unsuccessful. His speech in May on national security and the terrorist threat revived an issue from his 2008 campaign, the closing of the terrorist prison at Guantanamo Bay. The chance that will happen is slim.

He is also pushing two leftovers from his first year in office, immigration reform and gun control. What's striking about Mr. Obama's handling of both is his complete absence of influence. On gun control, his speeches had zero impact. On immigration, his influence is entirely negative. He can impede a bill. He cannot aid its passage.

All this has left Mr. Obama in a state of weakness. And Democrats are increasingly blaming him. Doug Sosnik, a former senior adviser in the Clinton White House, wrote in a memo last month that Mr. Obama's re-election "was a great political achievement, but the fact that he didn't set out a clear policy agenda for a second term left him without a clear mandate to govern over a politically divided Congress."

Mr. Sosnik, who is now deputy commissioner of the National Basketball Association, added: "There's not a single member of either party [in Congress] who fears paying a political price for not falling in line with the President, making it even more difficult to get members to cast difficult votes."

Mr. Obama's top priority now is winning the House in 2014 while retaining control of the Senate. "I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that we've got Nancy Pelosi back in the speakership," he said last week at a Democratic fundraiser in Chicago. In Mr. Obama's case, "everything" is unlikely to be enough.

Estamos leyendo las discusiones ente Demócratas y Republicanos, ambos acusándose de que están entorpeciendo el sueño americano porque la juventud no podrá estudiar.

Hablan de los intereses que los estudiantes tendrán que pagar, y demagógicamente manejan números y porcientos, que si el 3.75% que si el 6.6% pero los que hemos vivido el sueño americano, sabemos que todo es pura demagogia.

Lo que hace posible el sueño americano es la raíz de lo que ha hecho este país la nación que es, simplemente LA RESPONSABILIDAD y esta es la solución no los porcentajes de intereses en una deuda que no se pagará

Sin duda algo no va bien en nuestra sociedad, o en este caso en los EEUU, cuando las deudas por préstamos concedidos a estudiantes para que puedan cursar sus estudios superan al volumen total de deudas que soportan los ciudadanos y consumidores de dicho país en concepto de tarjetas de crédito.

El saldo vivo de préstamos a estudiantes supera ya los 850 mil millones de dólares, no deja de ser paradójico que se esté concediendo semejante volumen de créditos a estudiantes, cuando no pagan sus deudas.

Los que vivimos el tener hijos en edad universitaria y no poder pagar los costos de las matrículas y los gastos de la universidad, somos testigos vivientes del sistema que ha hecho grande a este país.

Pudimos por medio de préstamos, becas, y programas de estudio-trabajo, dar educación superior a nuestros hijos. Pero al mismo tiempo los educamos con la responsabilidad de que era su obligación pagar de vuelta esos préstamos para que hubiera dinero para los que venían después que ellos.

Nuestros hijos pagaron sus préstamos, eran otras épocas y otros valores.

Hoy en esta era de dependencia, creen que los préstamos no se tienen que pagar.

¿Qué importa el interés de las deudas si no se pagan? ¿Qué importa los recargos, las penalidades, si no se van a pagar?, demagogia, demagogia todo es demagogia. No profundizan en la realidad que los que está destruyendo el sueño americano, no hablan de ejecutar un sistema para cobrar los 850 mil millones de dólares que solucionarían el problema.

El problema no son los intereses, ni los recargos pero la irresponsabilidad y los políticos que estimulan esta conducta, creando una sociedad que cree que el gobierno le debe su mantenimiento, sin reconocer que el dinero del gobierno viene de los que pagan los impuestos.

Pero decir eso no es bueno para los políticos, porque saben que los millones que no han pagado sus deudas no votarían por ellos, no es políticamente correcto decir la verdad, y saben que la mitad de la población no paga impuestos, por lo que no le importa nada de esto.

Así que lo que oímos es demagogia y palabrería y al final la solución será que los préstamos serán pagados… ¿Por quién? Por los contribuyentes, por los que pagamos nuestras deudas y ahora tenemos que pagar las deudas por los hijos de los demás.

Y probablemente lo peor de todo es que la tendencia sigue al alza a una velocidad de 2.853 dólares por segundo. El sistema cada vez es más perverso.

La solución es evidente, volver a los valores de honestidad y responsabilidad que hicieron grande a esta nación. Pero este pensamiento no es muy popular hoy en día.

Hay personas que se asombran de que hay bastantes millonarios apoyando a un gobierno de inclinación socialista como la presente administración de Obama.

Vemos iIndividuos como Warren Buffett, y George Soros y otros, pregonando ideas socialistas.

Pero esto no es nada nuevo, ni en los Estados Unidos con las familias Kennedy y Rockefeller o internacionalmente los líderes del socialismo todos han sido gentes de buen pasar.

En ocasiones millonarios y casi siempre señoritos, desde Marx y Engels hasta Fidel Castro, pasando por Zapatero, el Che Guevara, Lenin y Mao, y muchos más.

No es la pobreza la condición sine qua non de los socialistas, sino el apego a la coacción. Pero este apego es independiente de la cartera.

Venerable fantasía es esta que postula la incompatibilidad entre socialismo y riqueza, o la religión.

Ya se sabe que el socialismo del siglo XX no sólo no quiere acabar con sus millonarios ni siquiera quiere acabar con la Iglesia, sino sustituirla. O sea que como en China tendremos millonarios socialistas y religión socialista.

Por eso el ateísmo se ha convertido en una religión con sus ritos sus doctrinas y sus sacerdotes, y vemos sacerdotes y ministros de las instituciones religiosas plegarse al socialismo.

Sólo en un sentido la fantasía de que los socialistas son enemigos de la riqueza o de la religión, es verdad: los socialistas conspiran efectivamente contra la riqueza, pero selectivamente contra la riqueza ajena, y contra la religión que con doctrinas que interfieren con su autoridad, pero no contra las reliciones que se amoldan a sus doctrinas.

De interés son los desarrollos que han tenido lugar en China a partir de fines del siglo XX hasta nuestro siglo XXI, y que son vistos específicamente como una implementación de un sistema socialista de mercado^[

Si visitan China podrán ver la diferencia de clases, sobre todo en las zonas rurales y los barrios marginales. Hay millonarios en China, pero son socialistas. Siguen habiendo clases sociales y económicas bien definidas. .

Históricamente, estos intentos de socialismo de mercado buscan retener el control del gobierno en los principios fundamentales de planificación, sobre áreas como la industria pesada, la energía y las infraestructuras, a la vez que mantienen el poder político totalitario tradicional del socialismo marxista-leninista.

Este sistema de socialismo de mercado también permite la propiedad privada de los medios de producción y en servicios, en ciertos sectores económicos secundarios, y bajo ciertos límites. Tienen una Iglesia católica Popular China, con sacerdotes comunistas, pero también permiten las otras instituciones religiosas con limitaciones, hasta algunas iglesias del Catolicismo Romano.

El mercado se usa para determinar los precios en bienes de consumo y productos de agricultura, y los campesinos tiene permitido vender todos o parte de sus productos en un mercado libre, conservando todo o parte de los beneficios como incentivo para incrementar y asegurar la producción o sea una copia de una economía de mercado pero regulada por el estado.

Si analizamos lo que describe arriba como el socialismo de mercado, podemos observar que es simplemente una parodia de la economía de mercado como la idealizó Adam Smith, pero que en vez de liberar el mercado, lo mantiene oprimido por un gobierno totalitario. De esta manera el gobierno puede hacer las variaciones que convienen a la jerarquía de la cúpula, a los nuevos millonarios, para mantener al de país como una hacienda privada, como en los gobiernos totalitarios comunistas tradicionales.

¿Es mejor vivir en China que en Corea del Norte o Cuba? Sin lugar a dudas, esto es una realidad evidente que no se puede negar.

Pero........ ¿Por qué conformarse con una imitación del libre mercado bajo el eufemismo de “socialismo de mercado” cuando podemos tener lo original que es la economía de libre mercado?

Issa: IRS Targeting of Conservatives Directed by Washington

The IRS agents in Cincinnati who were involved in the targeting of conservative groups were "being directly ordered from Washington," Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., said Sunday.
Issa, who is heading the House investigation into the affair, accused the White House of lying about the involvement of IRS headquarter officials in the scandal.
He also called White House Press Secretary Jay Carney a "paid liar."
"The administration is still - their paid liar, their spokesperson, picture behind - he's (Carney) still making up things about what happens and calling this local rogue," Issa said on CNN's "State of the Union."
"The reason that Lois Lerner tried to take the Fifth [Amendment when called to testify before Congress] is not because there's a rogue in Cincinnati," Issa added. "It's because this is a problem that was coordinated in all likelihood right out of Washington headquarters And we're getting to proving it.
"The administration is still trying to say there's a few rogue agents in Cincinnati, when in fact the indication is they were directly being ordered from Washington," he said.
Interviews of IRS workers from the Cincinnati office by House investigtors are providing evidence that the orders stemmed directly from Washington, Issa said. Though he stopped short of saying that President Obama was involved.
"My gut tells me that too many people knew that this wrongdoing was going on before the election, and at least by some sort of convenient benign neglect allowed it to go on through the election, allowed these groups, these conservative groups, these, if you will, not friends of the president to be disenfranchised through an election," Issa said. "Now, I'm not making any allegations as to motive, that they set out to do it. But certainly, people knew it was happening."
The public and the agency itself needs to be reminded that "we're watching," said Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, referring to lawmakers.
Issa said that one IRS agent was so uncomfortable with forcing conservative groups to jump through extra hoops that the agent requested a transfer.
But that agent should have become a whistleblower, and it was his committee's aim to change the culture of the tax-collecting agency where a whistleblower does comes forward, Issa said.
"These folks cannot get a pass by saying, 'I was ordered to do it.' Because ethically, they clearly knew this was wrong; they should have become whistleblowers," Issa said. "They should have done something on behalf of the American people … If the IG had been told, 'I'm being ordered to do this,' this investigation might have ended very differently."

Too many people were aware of the targeting before the election, Issa said, "and at least by some sort of convenient, benign neglect" allowed some "not-friends-of-the-president to be disenfranchised through an election."
Issa said people certainly knew that the targeting was happening. "They could have done something, and would have done something, I'm sure, if these had been progressive groups or groups that supported the president."
Issa denied trying to tie the wrongdoing at the IRS directly to the president. "What we've tried to do," he said, "is to get the kinds of transparency we were promised, which we're not getting."
In a separate controversy, Issa was asked whether Attorney General Eric Holder lied under oath in the targeting of Fox News reporter James Rosen.
"He certainly could have been more candid if he remembered. And he should have remembered," Issa said.
It would be kind to say that Holder misled Congress when he said he had never been personally involved in prosecuting the journalist who received a leak of classified material, Issa said.
"It would be less kind and more accurate to say that would rise to be a lie by most people's standards."
But should Holder resign?
"That's up to the president," Issa said.

Agencia EFE, - Cuba fue el país que más voluntarios envió a la Guerra Civil española -1.225 internacionalistas- para apoyar a los republicanos, según una investigación divulgada hoy.

Hasta ahora se cifraba era 734 el número de criollos cubanos que participaron en la Guerra Civil española (1936-1939), pero los nuevos datos aportados por el estudio indican que Cuba fue el país que más combatientes envió a España para luchar contra el fascismo, señala el rotativo.

Según Juventud Rebelde, el hallazgo es fruto de una investigación realizada durante meses por los cubanos María Mercedes Sánchez Dotres y Enrique Cirules en el Archivo Estatal Ruso de Historia Política y Social de Moscú y en los archivos de Madrid, Alcalá de Henares, Ávila y Guadalajara.

Sobre la procedencia de los combatientes cubanos, el estudio reveló que la mayoría formó parte de un destacamento principal enviado desde La Habana de forma clandestina por el Partido Comunista.

Otro grupo fue integrado por "revolucionarios y comunistas cubanos que se encontraban en el exilio, organizados en los clubes Julio Antonio Mella y Antonio Guiteras, de Nueva York" y viajaron desde Estados Unidos como parte del batallón de comunistas norteamericanos Abraham Lincoln.

La tercera fuerza incluyó a cubanos residentes en México, el Caribe y Centroamérica, y a decenas que ya se encontraban en España cuando se produjo el levantamiento franquista el 18 de julio de 1936.

La investigación también permitió encontrar los expedientes personales de decenas de voluntarios cubanos y documentos inéditos como la historia de la XV Brigada Internacional Abraham Lincoln, donde operaba una importante fuerza de latinoamericanos.

Juventud Rebelde resaltó que Sánchez y Cirules aún no dan por concluida sus investigaciones, que han contado con el apoyo del Partido Comunista español y la agrupación del Distrito de Salamanca, de Madrid.

De lo contrario el desequilibrio económico, se inclina cada vez más a favor de ALEMANIA y toda Europa se convierte en exclusivamente en el mercado de productos Alemanes...

Con los créditos acumulados... Alemania no tiene otra salida que comprar los negocios que producen dinero en las tierras y las empresas en los países importadores, pero eso sería un suicidio político para los países importadores...

Los consumidores pagan desde hoy un 18 por ciento de IVA, un punto porcentual más que en el último medio año, al entrar en vigor a una subida recibida con pequeñas manifestaciones en las principales ciudades.

El incremento, que se suma a otro adoptado el pasado septiembre (entonces del 16 % al 17 %), forma parte de un paquete de draconianas medidas decretado por el Gobierno de Biniamín Netanyahu para frenar el déficit público.

La decisión, que afecta por igual a todos los productos, menos a verduras, frutas y servicios turísticos a extranjeros, debería haber entrado ayer en vigor, pero se aplazó a esta medianoche para sortear el shabat, la jornada semanal de descanso en el judaísmo.

El incremento ha contribuido a un alza de los precios de productos lácteos, que controla el Estado, y de la nafta (gasolina), que traslada también al consumidor la subida del precio del crudo y la apreciación del shekel respecto al dólar.

La autoridad tributaria calcula en 4.400 millones de shekels (917 millones de euros o 1.192 millones de dólares) anuales la reducción del déficit público -definido como "monstruoso" por el ministro de Finanzas, Yair Lapid- que logrará la medida.

El Ejecutivo, elegido en los comicios del pasado enero, debe aún pedir la aprobación del Parlamento a la Ley de Presupuestos Generales del Estado para 2013, que incluye fuertes recortes en todos los ministerios y una subida generalizada de impuestos a partir de 2014.

Debido a una desaceleración en la actividad económica motivada por la lenta recuperación en sus principales mercados de exportación, EE.UU. y la Unión Europea, Israel acumulará este año un déficit de alrededor de 30 mil millones de shékels (6.277 millones de euros o 8.124 millones de dólares).

A diferencia de otros impuestos y recortes, el IVA sólo requiere aprobación ministerial, por lo que el Gobierno le ha dado aplicación inmediata. EFE.

Issa: White House spokesperson 'paid liar' By Associated Press June 3, 2013 6:55 am

WASHINGTON -- The chairman of a House of Representatives committee investigating the federal tax collection agency says that interviews with low-ranking employees at a field office indicated that they were directed by Washington to subject conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status to tough scrutiny.

The excerpts released Sunday by Republican Rep. Darrell Issa of California, the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, provided no direct evidence that Washington had ordered the tough screening of conservative groups.

The top Democrat on that committee, Rep. Elijah Cummings, contested Issa's claim, saying none of the employees interviewed have so far identified any IRS officials in Washington as ordering that targeting.

The IRS has already come under bipartisan criticism after officials at the tax collection agency disclosed that they had targeted tea party and other conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status.

Agency officials and the Obama administration have said that treatment was inappropriate, but the political tempest is showing no signs of ebbing and has put the White House on the defensive.

Three congressional committees are investigating, a Justice Department criminal investigation is under way, President Barack Obama has replaced the IRS' acting commissioner and two other top IRS officials have stepped aside.

Issa's committee released excerpts from interviews congressional investigators conducted last week with two IRS employees from the agency's Cincinnati office which handles applications from around the country for tax-exempt status. The excerpts omitted the names of those interviewed and provided no specifics about individuals in Washington who may have been involved.

One of the IRS employees said in an excerpt that they were told by a supervisor that the need to collect the reports came from Washington, and said that in early 2010 the Cincinnati office had sent copies of seven of the cases to Washington.

The other said "all my direction" came from an official the transcript said was in Washington.

One of the workers also expressed skepticism that the Cincinnati office originated the screening without direction from Washington, according to the excerpts.

Appearing Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union," Issa said this conflicted with White House comments that have referred to misconduct by IRS workers in Cincinnati. Without naming White House spokesman Jay Carney, Issa said the administration's "paid liar, their spokesperson" is "still making up things about what happens in calling this local rogue."

He added, "This is a problem that was coordinated in all likelihood right out of Washington headquarters and we're getting to proving it."

In briefings with reporters, Carney has not referred to the Cincinnati IRS office as "rogue."

"He's good at throwing out outlandish charges but it's unclear what he's saying he lied about," White House spokesman Eric Schultz said of Issa's remark.

Cummings said Issa's comments conflicted with a Treasury inspector general's report that provided no evidence that the Cincinnati office received orders on targeting from anyone else.

"Rather than lobbing unsubstantiated conclusions on national television for political reasons, we need to work in a bipartisan way to follow the facts where they lead," Cummings said.

The interviews with IRS employees were conducted by Republican and Democratic aides on Issa's committee and also involved aides from both parties from the House Ways and Means Committee.

One of the employees was a lower-level worker while the other was higher-ranked, said one congressional aide.

A Treasury inspector general's report in May said employees at the IRS Cincinnati office began searching for applications from tea party and conservative groups in their hunt for organizations that primarily do work related to election campaigns, which would disqualify them from receiving tax-exempt status.

That May report blamed "ineffective management" for letting that screening occur for more than 18 months between 2010 and 2012. But that report _ and three hearings by congressional committees _ have produced no specific evidence that the Cincinnati workers were ordered by anyone in Washington to target conservatives.

Issa's committee will also hold a hearing Thursday on spending for IRS conferences after issuing a report that found that the IRS spent about $50 million to hold at least 220 conferences for employees between 2010 and 2012.

On Friday, the new acting IRS commissioner, Danny Werfel, released a statement on the forthcoming report criticizing the Anaheim meeting as "an unfortunate vestige from a prior era" and that many of the expenses associated with the meeting "were inappropriate and should not have occurred."

WASHINGTON - The Internal Revenue Service, already under fire after officials disclosed that the agency targeted conservative groups, faces increased scrutiny because of an inspector general's report that it spent about $50 million to hold at least 220 conferences for employees between 2010 and 2012.

The report by the Treasury Department's inspector general about conference spending is set to be released Tuesday. The department issued a statement Sunday saying the administration "has already taken aggressive and dramatic action to reduce conference spending."

The White House and the agency were on the defensive before the report on conference spending. Agency officials and the Obama administration have said the targeting of conservative groups was inappropriate, but the political tempest is showing no signs of ebbing.

The chairman of one of those committees, Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., also released excerpts of congressional investigators' interviews with employees of the IRS office in Cincinnati. Issa said the interviews indicated the employees were directed by Washington to subject tea party and other conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status to tough scrutiny.

The closest the excerpts came to direct evidence that Washington had ordered the screening was one employee saying that "all my direction" came from an official who the excerpt said was in Washington. The top Democrat on that panel, Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland, said none of the employees interviewed have so far identified any IRS officials in Washington as ordering that targeting.

The conference spending included $4 million for an August 2010 gathering in Anaheim, Calif., for which the agency did not negotiate lower room rates, even though that is standard government practice, according to a statement by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

Instead, some of the 2,600 attendees received benefits, including baseball tickets and stays in presidential suites that normally cost $1,500 to $3,500 per night. In addition, 15 outside speakers were paid a total of $135,000 in fees, with one paid $17,000 to talk about "leadership through art," the House committee said.

IRS spokeswoman Michelle Eldridge said Sunday that spending on large agency conferences with 50 or more participants fell from $37.6 million in the 2010 budget year to $4.9 million in 2012. The government's fiscal year begins Oct. 1 the previous calendar year.

Barone: Tragedy of Detroit Shows 'Big Unit America' Is out of Gas. [En la tierra de oama y de otros famosos destructores]

Detroit, once one of the nation's most vibrant cities, faces imminent bankruptcy. That's the headline from the report last month of emergency fiscal manager Kevyn Orr, issued 45 days after he was appointed this spring by Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder to take over the city's government.
"The path Detroit has followed for more than 40 years is unsustainable," Orr said, "and only a complete restructuring of the city's finances and operations will allow Detroit to regain its footing and return to a path of prosperity."
The police department, his report says, "is in disarray." Nearly one-quarter of fire department operations could be "largely inoperational" on any given day. The city-owned electric grid "has been a disaster," and the city's water system, which serves a region with 4 million people, "has a history of dysfunction."
The city's 78,000 vacant structures and 60,000 vacant land parcels "present an ongoing public safety and public health concern."
It's a tragic situation that could be regarded as just the fault of corrupt public officials. The most recent former mayor of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick, has gone to prison.
So has former City Council President Pro Tem Monica Conyers, the wife of 48-year congressman John Conyers.
But Detroit's problems are more fundamental. Detroit is an extreme case, but similar problems afflict many of our central cities.
As it happens, I was, in some small sense, present at the creation. I grew up in Detroit and in affluent suburban Birmingham, and in the summer of 1967, I was an intern in the office of liberal Mayor Jerome P. Cavanagh.
That was the summer of Detroit's six-day riot, in which 40 people were killed. Part of the time, I found myself in the misnamed command center with the mayor and Gov. George Romney.
In my childhood, Detroit was proud of being the fifth-largest American city, the center of the auto industry and the home of Hudson's, the nation's second-largest department store.
Detroit's inventors, entrepreneurs and financiers made it the second-fastest growing city from 1900 to 1930, behind only Los Angeles, which started off much smaller.
Newcomers poured in from eastern and southern Europe, from the farmlands of the Midwest and Ontario, from the hills of Appalachia and the Black Belt of Alabama to work in the factories.
Detroit was the prime example of what I have called "Big Unit America," in which the heads of large organizations -- big business, big labor, big government -- made the big decisions and the hundreds of thousands of people below them, small cogs in a very large machine, carried them out.
For a time, Big Unit America seemed to work splendidly. The Big Three automakers, with some cooperation from the United Auto Workers and at the behest of big government, made Detroit "the arsenal of democracy." Arthur Herman tells the story in his most recent book, "Freedom's Forge."
The big units' prestige continued high for a generation after World War II. General Motors' president was Time's man of the year in 1955. John Kenneth Galbraith's 1967 book, "The New Industrial State," argued that big automakers could manipulate demand through advertising and should share more of their inevitable profits with union members and the government.
That was just about the time the big units started to sputter. But Detroit's leaders didn't notice.
White flight to the suburbs accelerated after the 1967 riot, and in 1973 Detroit elected its first black mayor, Coleman Young -- smart, charming, politically shrewd.
But his 20 years in office were disastrous for the city. He ended what he considered police brutality, and crime rates soared. There were hundreds of arsons every year on Devil's Night, Oct. 30.
Young relied on big units for economic growth. Big government paid for projects such as the People Mover, which moved few people. The city condemned one of its few viable neighborhoods for a General Motors plant. Unions were given a stranglehold on city finances.
Numbers tell the story. In 1950, there were 1,849,568 people in Detroit. In 2010, there were 713,777. White flight was followed by black flight; there were fewer black residents in 2010 than there were 20 years before.
General Motors and Chrysler were forced into bankruptcy in 2009, and Hudson's downtown store was demolished in 1998.
Now Detroit has ineffective public services and overwhelming public obligations. Bankruptcy looms. The "big unit" model doesn't work anymore.

Empieza a circular la transcripción de una entrevista que le hicieran al entonces cardenal Jorge Mario Bergoglio en Argentina. Pero en realidad era una emboscada ejecutada por el periodista Chris Mathews. Sin embargo, Bergoglio termina acribillando a Mathews de tal forma que MSNBC nunca la pasó al aire. Mathews, al darse cuenta que su plan fallaba, archivó el video. Pero un estudiante de Notre Dame que cumplía su servicio social en MSNBC, lo sustrajo para entregárselo a su profesor.

El plato fuerte de la entrevista sería su debate acerca de la pobreza. El intercambio se inicia cuando el periodista trata de emboscar al cardenal.

El Cardenal responde:

“Primero en Europa y ahora en América, algunos políticos se han dedicado a endeudar a la gente creando un ambiente de dependencia. ¿Para qué? Para incrementar su poder. Son grandes expertos creando pobreza y nadie los cuestiona. Yo lucho por combatir esa pobreza.

La pobreza se ha convertido en una condición natural y ello es suficientemente malo. Mi tarea es evitar el agravamiento de tal condición. Las ideologías que fabrican pobreza deben ser denunciadas. La educación es la gran solución al problema. Debemos enseñar a la gente como salvar su alma, pero enseñando a evitar la pobreza y no permitir que el gobierno los conduzca a ese penoso estado"

Mathews ofendido pregunta... ¿Usted culpa al gobierno?

Cardenal Bergoglio: “Culpo a los políticos que buscan sus propios intereses. Tú eres socialista y tus amigos también lo son. Ustedes (los socialistas) y sus políticas son la razón de los 70 años de miseria, y eso tiene a muchos países a punto del colapso. Creen en la redistribución que es una de las razones de la pobreza. Ustedes quieren nacionalizar el universo para controlar todas las actividades humanas. Ustedes destruyen el incentivo del hombre para, inclusive, hacerse cargo de su familia, un crimen contra la naturaleza y contra Dios. Estas ideologías (las socialistas) crean más pobres que todas las corporaciones que ustedes etiquetan como diabólicas.”

Replica Mathews: Nunca había escuchado algo así de un cardenal.

Cardenal Bergoglio: “La gente dominada por socialistas necesita saber que no tenemos que ser pobres"

Cardenal Bergoglio: "El imperio de la dependencia creado por Hugo Chávez, con falsas promesas, mintiendo para que lleguen a arrodillarse ante el gobierno y ante él. Dándoles peces pero sin permitirles pescar. Si en América Latina alguien aprende a pescar, es castigado y sus peces confiscados por los socialistas. La libertad es castigada. Acusa Mathews: Usted es capitalista

Cardenal Bergoglio: "Sí pensar que el capital es necesario para construir fábricas, escuelas, hospitales, iglesias tal vez lo sea. ¿Tú te opones a este proceso?”

- Por supuesto que no, pero ¿no piensa que el capital es arrebatado de la gente por corporaciones abusivas? -

Cardenal Bergoglio: “No, yo pienso que la gente, a través de sus opciones económicas, decide que parte de su capital irá para esos proyectos. La utilización del capital debe ser voluntaria. Solo cuando los políticos confiscan ese capital para construir obras del gobierno, alimentar la burocracia, surge un grave problema. El capital invertido de forma voluntaria es legitimo, pero el que se invierte a base de coerción, es ilegitimo.”

Sus ideas son radicales, afirma el periodista.

Cardenal Bergoglio: “No, hace años Khrushchev hizo una advertencia: ‘No debemos esperar que los americanos abracen el comunismo, pero podemos asistir a sus líderes electos con inyecciones de socialismo hasta que, al despertar, se den cuenta que se embarcaron en el comunismo’ Esto es lo que sucede en estos momentos en al antiguo bastión de la libertad. ¿Cómo los EU puede salvar a América Latina si ellos se han convertido en esclavos de su gobierno?”

Mathews afirma: Yo no puedo digerir todo esto.

El Cardenal responde:

“Te ves muy enojado pero la verdad puede ser dolorosa. Ustedes han creado el estado de bienestar y ha sido solo respuesta a las necesidades de los pobres creados por la política. El estado interventor absuelve a la sociedad de su responsabilidad. Las familias escapan de su responsabilidad con el falso estado de bienestar e inclusive, las iglesias.

La gente ya no practica la caridad pues ve a los pobres como problema del gobierno. Para la iglesia ya no hay pobres que ayudar, los han empobrecido permanentemente y son ahora propiedad de los políticos. Y algo que me irrita profundamente, es la inhabilidad de los medios para observar el problema sin analizar cuál es la causa. A la gente la empobrecen para que luego vote por quienes los hundieron en la pobreza.”
