Cuando Maduro y su canciller, Elías Jaua, dicen que Venezuela está abierta a una petición de asilo de Snowden, lo hacen de cara a la galería bolivariana, pero puertas adentro saben que un enfrentamiento con EEUU haría que Washington reabriera la cuestión de la legitimidad electoral de Maduro, que a este y a Cuba tanto les ha costado sedimentar. El Ecuador de Rafael Correa puede jugar a ganar perfil ‘antiimperialista’; eso es algo que ahora Maduro no puede permitirse: claramente tiene otra prioridad.

La decisión, hace una semana, de la Sala Constitucional del Tribunal Supremo de Justicia de Venezuela de tomar para sí (‘avocamiento’) las causas de impugnación electoral presentadas por la oposición ante la Sala Electoral muestra las prisas que le han entrado a Maduro para cerrar definitivamente el cuestionamiento sobre su legitimidad. Siempre se creyó que al proclamado presidente le interesaba cansar a la oposición con una eterna tramitación de las impugnaciones en el TSJ. Pero el eco internacional encontrado por las denuncias –mayor del esperado y que ha mantenido a presión a Maduro durante un par de meses– y la dificultad que eso ha añadido a la grave situación económica (cierre de momento del grifo crediticio de China y reticencias de otros inversores) está ahora llevando a aplicar la directa. Así, la Sala Constitucional ha agrupado las siete causas en una sola, lo que le permitirá entrar en menos consideraciones y además acelerar la respuesta. Su sentencia, que nadie duda que será a favor del Gobierno, por el sabido alineamiento político del TSJ (y del Consejo Nacional Electoral), ya no será revocable por no haber instancia nacional superior.

Al gobierno de Obama le basta con que Caracas le presente esta excusa –por más que la causa llegue a tribunales internacionales– para dar por cerrado el cuestionamiento diplomático de Maduro. Washington ha venido evitando el reconocimiento formal del nuevo presidente, dando tiempo para que la falsedad electoral se abriera paso, pero al dejar ya Maduro de tambalearse y haber una aceptación impotente de la situación por parte de la oposición, la Administración Obama desea pasar página sin tomar en cuenta el sentir del pujeblo venezolano.

GOP Senators Predict Quick Death for Senate Immigration Bill in House

Republican reaction was swift and strong Thursday to the Senate's passing of sweeping immigration reform legislation, with many senators predicting the measure will fail in the House of Representatives.
"Sponsors of this legislation, despite the array of financial, establishment, and special-interest support, failed to hit their target of 70 votes," said Sen. Jeff Sessions, the Alabama Republican who has long railed against the bill. "The more people learned about the bill, the more uneasy they became.
"Failure to reach 70 votes is significant, and ensures the House has plenty of space to chart an opposite course and reject this fatally flawed proposal," Sessions said. "It is a broken promise, 1,200 pages long."
"This is a bill led by Democrats," Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul declared on Fox News. "There will be a bill proposed for immigration reform led by Republicans in the House, and I'm hoping that's something that I can get behind."
The Senate voted 68-32 — with the backing of 14 Republicans — to approve the reform legislation introduced by the bipartisan Gang of Eight senators in April. The group includes Republican Sens. John McCain of Arizona and Marco Rubio of Florida, both of whom voted in favor of the reform measure
Democrats in the group include Sens. Chuck Schumer of New York and Dick Durbin of Illinois.
The legislation calls for increased border security, and requires illegal immigrants to pass criminal background checks, pay ﬁnes, learn English, and pay taxes before getting in line for citizenship, among other reforms.
It also included $46 billion in enhanced border-security measures, including the doubling of U.S. Border Patrol agents to 40,000 and the increased use of surveillance technology along the border. This would include unmanned drones, cameras, and ground sensors.
The bill also would double the amount of fencing along the Mexico border to 700 miles. About 40 miles of fencing currently lines the border.
The Senate vote capped three weeks of contentious debate, with Republicans charging the legislation was amnesty for 11 million-plus illegal immigrants, that it did little to strengthen the nation's borders, and that the Democratic leadership was rushing such complex legislation into law.
In the House, Speaker John Boehner said on Thursday that the lower chamber was not going to take up the Senate bill.
"I think I made it clear that if we're going to do this the right way, there ought to be a majority of Democrats and a majority of Republicans in favor of it," the Ohio Republican said, ABC News reports.
Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana agreed.
"This has no momentum at all in the House," he said of the Senate legislation.
Meanwhile, Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio charged that the bill did little to improve the nation's E-Verify system, which allows employers to confirm an immigrant's legal status.
Portman said a stronger E-Verify system would block at least 40 percent of illegal immigrants from passing a job background check. "Implementing an effective E-Verify system is the most critical element in making immigration reform work," he said.
"The legislation the Senate voted on is not a real fix because it does not include the new enforcement measures needed as part of a comprehensive package," Portman added.
He said the legislation would essentially legalize millions of illegal immigrants — but without adequate "border and workplace enforcement to curtail future illegal immigration."
Sen. John Thune of South Dakota, chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, said any reform legislation needs provisions to "reduce the wait-time and simplify the process for those entering the country legally.
"Unfortunately, instead of proving to the American public that Congress is serious about border security and enforcing the laws already on the books, the final Senate bill gives weak promises on border security, leaving many aspects of implementation to the discretion of the Homeland Security Secretary," Thune said.
"Simply put, the Senate immigration bill is legalization first and empty promises of border security second," he added.
And Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, who also has consistently spoken out against the bill, said the vote reflected a "fatally flawed" process.
"It was written behind closed doors with special interests," Cruz said. "In the Judiciary Committee, the Gang of Eight and Democrats blocked all substantive amendments because of a previously cooked deal — and on the Senate floor, the majority blocked any attempts to fix the bill."
Cruz also attacked a provision that created a tax penalty of nearly $5,000 for employers who hired U.S. citizens or legal immigrants. But the penalty does not apply to those in Registered Provisional Immigrant status, which would be created to adjust the status of illegals to legal status.
"That is indefensible," Cruz charged. "I filed an amendment to fix this defect, but I was blocked by Senate Democrats from receiving a vote on that solution.
"Sadly, this bill won't fix the problem with our immigration system; it will only encourage more illegal immigration and human suffering."

Vatican official arrested in corruption plot

VATICAN CITY (AP) — A Vatican official was arrested Friday by Italian police for allegedly trying to bring 20 million euros ($26 million) in cash into the country from Switzerland aboard an Italian government plane, his lawyer said.

Monsignor Nunzio Scarano, already under investigation in a purported money-laundering plot involving the Vatican bank, is accused of fraud, corruption and slander stemming from the plot, which never got off the ground, attorney Silverio Sica told The Associated Press.

It was the latest financial scandal to hit the Vatican and came just two days after Pope Francis created a commission of inquiry into the Vatican bank to get to the bottom of the problems that have plagued it for decades and contributed to damaging the Vatican's reputation.

Sica said Scarano was a middleman in the Swiss operation. Friends had asked him to intervene with a broker, Giovanni Carenzio, to return 20 million euros they had given him to invest. Sica said Scarano persuaded Carenzio to return the money, and an Italian secret service agent, Giovanni Maria Zito, went to Switzerland to bring the cash back aboard an Italian government aircraft. Such a move would presumably prevent any reporting of the money coming into Italy.

The operation failed because Carenzio reneged on the deal, Sica said.

Zito, nevertheless, demanded his 400,000 euro commission. Scarano paid him an initial 200,000 euros by check, Sica said. But in a bid to not have the second installment of the commission deposited, Scarano filed a report for a missing 200,000 check, even though he knew Zito had it, Sica said.

Carenzio and Zito also were arrested Wednesday along with Scarano, Sica said.

When asked how Scarano responded to the accusations, Sica said "I think that Don Nunzio will respond to the questions."

It's not the only troubles facing Scarano.

Prosecutors in the southern city of Salerno have placed him under investigation for alleged money-laundering stemming from his account at the Vatican's bank, called the Institute for Religious Works, or IOR.

The investigation concerns transactions Scarano, then an official at the Administration for the Patrimony of the Apostolic See, made in 2009 in which he took 560,000 euros ($729,000) in cash out of his personal IOR bank account and carried it out of the Vatican and into Italy to help pay off a mortgage on his Salerno home.

To deposit the money into an Italian bank account — and to prevent family members from finding out he had such a large chunk of cash — he asked 56 close friends to accept 10,000 euros apiece in cash in exchange for a check or money transfer in the same amount, Sica said earlier this week. Scarano was then able to deposit the amounts in his Italian account.

The original money came into Scarano's IOR account from donors who gave it to the prelate thinking they were funding a home for the terminally ill in Salerno, Sica said. He said the donors had "enormous" wealth and could offer such donations for his charitable efforts.

He said Scarano had given the names of the donors to prosecutors and insisted the origin of the money was clean, that the transactions didn't constitute money-laundering, and that he only took the money "temporarily" for his personal use.

The home for terminally ill hasn't been built, though the property has been identified, Sica said.

"He declares himself absolutely innocent," Sica said of the Salerno investigation.

The Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, told the AP earlier this week that the Vatican is taking the appropriate measures to deal with Scarano's case. There was no further comment Friday from the Vatican about Scarano's arrest.

Francis has made clear he has no tolerance for corruption or for Vatican officials who use their jobs for personal ambition or gain. He has said he wants a "poor" church and a church that is for the poor, one that goes out to the "peripheries" to minister to those most needy. He has also noted, tongue in cheek, that "St. Peter didn't have a bank account."

On Wednesday, he named five people to head a commission of inquiry into the Vatican bank's activities and legal status "to allow for a better harmonization with the universal mission of the Apostolic See," according to the legal document he signed creating it.

Two of them are Americans: Monsignor Peter Wells, the No. 3 official in the Vatican secretariat of state, and Mary Ann Glendon, a Harvard law professor, former U.S. ambassador to the Holy See and current president of a pontifical academy.

American cardinals were among the most vocal in demanding a wholesale reform of the Vatican bureaucracy — and the Vatican bank — in the meetings outlining the priorities for the new pope in the run-up to the March conclave that elected Francis. The demands were raised following revelations in leaked documents last year that told of dysfunction, petty turf wars and allegations of corruption in the Holy See's governance.

It was the second time in as many weeks that Francis had intervened to get information out of the IOR, a secretive institution best known for the scandals it has caused the Vatican. On June 15, he filled a key vacancy in the bank's governing structure, tapping a trusted prelate to be his eyes inside the bank.

The nurse came and got me, got out the needle filled and ready to go then looked at the computer and got very quiet and asked if I was prepared to pay for it. She said, that Medicare had turned it down and went to talk to my Dr. about it. 15 minutes later she came back and said, she was sorry but they had tried every-thing they could but Medicare is beginning to turn many things down for seniors because of the projected Obama Care coming in. Hasta el más simple trabajador participa en esta filosofía bajo la premisa de que robar al Estado no es robar y hay que "sobrevivir". Tristemente , Cuba hoy es un país de corruptos salvo muy honrosas excepciones.

Durante estos 44 años ha surgido una nueva clase que en función de Los amplios e incontrolados poderes que ha ejercido y utilizado la riqueza nacional como su propio patrimonio ha venido forjando su propio capital.

El origen de estas fortunas están dadas fundamentalmente por la venta de recursos pertenecientes al Estado, desde armas, marcas, patentes, fábricas, terrenos, petróleo, comisiones, lavado de dinero, drogas, etc.

A través de un sofisticado sistema bancario diseñado por el Banco Financiero Internacional (BFI) y en otros por Los mismos extranjeros beneficiados se han ido enmascarando todas estas cuentas bancarias. Se conoce que Panamá, Brasil, México, Canadá, Inglaterra y España han sido Los lugares más utilizados por Los nuevos ricos comunistas para ocultar el fruto de Las malversaciones.

La identificación de estos nuevos señores del comunismo, se ha efectuado con bastante rigor y en ellas han participado fuentes independientes radicadas en Cuba, funcionarios en activo del sistema empresarial y financiero del gobierno cubano, ex funcionarios y ex dirigentes radicados tanto en el exilio como en Cuba, información sobre volúmenes financieros operados y nivel de comisiones y pagos recibidos por Los funcionarios relacionados, así como estimaciones resultantes de todo este conjunto de elementos.

Fidel Castro Ruz. Según estimados de la revista Forbes y fuentes que han estado trabajando en la ubicación de la fortuna de Castro se calcula que la misma asciende a unos 1,400 millones de US dólares.

Ramiro Valdés Menéndez. Presidente del sistema empresarial Copextel. Controla toda la producción e importación de equipos electrónicos y su comercialización dentro y fuera de Cuba . Fortuna estimada en 150 millones US dólares.

Vilma Espin. Presidenta de la Federación de Mujeres Cubanas. Durante muchos años fue depositaria de la fortuna de Fidel y Raúl Castro. Después de su divorcio con Raúl Castro su participación se ha limitado a depósitos a nombre de Ella en Suiza.

Orlando Rodríguez Romay. Ex Ministro de la Pesca. Recientemente sustituido. De conjunto con sus dos hermanos que operaban desde posiciones claves en el Ministerio de la Pesca y Marina Mercante, ha logrado por la vía de venta de mariscos, venta de barcos y compra de barcos, construir una sólida fortuna. Fue el autor junto con el actual Ministro del Banco Nacional de Cuba, Soberón, de la desaparición de la Flota Mercante Cubana, más de 100 buques que han sido vendidos a empresas "fantasmas".

Osmany Cienfuegos Gorriarán. Ex Ministro de Turismo y ex de varios cargos, desde Vicepresidente del Consejo de Ministros hasta Ministro de Obras Públicas. Es depositario de e todo el capital de origen dudoso que ha sido invertido en Cuba.(BORRACHO Y DROGA ADICTO).

Dr.LuisSoto.Ex.director de la CUJAE, capital de origen dudoso,(DROGA ADICTO),compañero de Osmany Cienfuegos en fechorias de drogas.

Herederos de José Abrahantes ( ex Ministro del Interior). Se conoce que al morir en prisión Abrahantes tenía cuentas personales en Panamá por más de 20 millones UD dólares.

Abraham Caciques. Fundador de la Empresa mixta Cubanacan S.A. Presidente del Palacio de las Convenciones y de CUBALSE(Cuba al Servicio del Extranjero). En 1996 le fue practicada una auditoria y faltaba en cash, más de 27 millones de US dólares. No fue sancionado y está limitado solamente al Palacio de las Convenciones. Hombre de extrema confianza de Castro.

Alejandro Roca Iglesias. Ministro de la Industria Alimenticia. Ha obtenido jugosas comisiones en las operaciones vinculadas a la venta del ron Habana Club y su comercialización con la firma Pernaud-Ricard, además ha obtenido múltiples beneficios en la compra de cereales y en la adquisición de molinos de trigo y plantas elaboradoras de alimentos.

José Luis Padrón. Ex Coronel ayudante del ex Ministro del Interior José Abrahantes, Presidente de la Corporación CIMEX, Banco Financiero Internacional y del Instituto Nacional de la Industria Turística(INTUR). Entre comisiones, lavado de dinero, etc, su fortuna asciende a más de 30 millones de dólares. Actualmente está radicado en Cuba , como consultor de varias corporaciones extranjeras.

Marcos Portal. Ministro de Industria Básica, casado con Tania Fraga, una sobrina de Fidel Castro. Ex jefe del grupo de Coordinación y Apoyo de Fidel. Hombre clave en todas las operaciones de prospección y extracción de petróleo, contrapartida de la multinacional Sherritt, en Cuba . Fortuna en ascenso. Prácticamente el monto de su capital está depositado en bancos canadienses.

Julio Casas Regueiro. Vice Ministro Primero del Ministerio de las Fuerzas Armadas. Controla prácticamente todos los negocios de las fuerzas armadas. Es el hombre de confianza de Raúl Castro y el contacto con el gran capital en el exterior.

Eusebio Leal Spengler. Historiador de la Ciudad de La Habana y director de la empresa turística HABAGUANEX, que abarca todo el casco histórico de la capital. La empresa que dirige por instrucciones de Fidel Castro en su creación, está exenta de controles de ningún tipo por parte de los organismos de la economía nacional.

Guillermo García Frías. Comandante de la Revolución. Responsable de la flora y la fauna en Cuba . Durante muchos años ha manejado de forma unipersonal y privada la exportación de animales y en especial la de gallos de pelea. Además posee embarcaciones y tiendas especializadas en artículos de western. Tiene también la renta de cotos de caza, para turismo internacional.

Abelardo Colomé Ibarra. Ministro del Interior. Conjunto de actividades legales e ilegales realizadas por empresas subordinadas a su mando.

Eduardo Bencomo Zurdo. Presidente del Banco Financiero Internacional y principal ejecutivo para las operaciones comerciales no convencionales desarrolladas por los funcionarios del gobierno cubano. Ex miembro del Grupo de Coordinación y Apoyo de Fidel Castro.

Emilio Aragonés Navarro. Ex Ministro del gobierno, ex embajador y ex presidente del Banco Financiero Internacional. Participó en grandes negocios en la Argentina y en España en la compra de equipos.

Javier Ardizones. Ex embajador de Cuba en Italia y ex presidente de la Cadena turística Gran Caribe. Se apropió de donaciones del gobierno italiano a Cuba , y mantiene relaciones comerciales con el Alcalde de Marbella , Jesús Martínez Gil.

Ramón Cuenca. Coronel de la Inteligencia. Representante en Cuba de la firma suiza Andre que efectúa prestamos a corto plazo al gobierno cubano.

Ramón Martínez Noa (Cuco). Principal negociador para la compra de equipos y materiales para el sector de las construcciones.

Jorge Lezcano Pérez. Embajador de Cuba en Brasil, ex miembro del Grupo de Coordinación y Apoyo. Tiene una participación muy activa en el control de los negocios de Fidel Castro con Nelson Mandela . Actualmente comercializa medicamentos elaborados en Cuba .

Carlos Pérez. Ex Ministro de la Agricultura y actualmente Director del Grupo Nacional de Cítricos. Representa a Cuba ante los capitales de Israel y Chile que explotan las plantaciones de cítricos.

Tomás Benítez Martínez. General de Brigada. Ex director de la empresa turística militar Gaviota y actualmente Presidente de la Corporación mixta cubano-panameña Cupet para la comercialización de la gasolina en dólares. Durante su permanencia como Presidente de Gaviota se conoce que recibió solamente en dos operaciones comerciales 4 millones de UD dólares y que fue sancionado por Julio Casas por ocultamiento de información.

Fernando Fernández Cossio. Ex embajador de Cuba en México y presidente del Grupo Hotelero Horizontes. Ha recibido grandes comisiones por permitir la participación de capital mexicano de dudoso origen en la industria hotelera cubana.

Enrique Luzón Battle. General de Brigada. Ex Ministro de Transporte y ex Director de corporaciones cubano angolanas para la comercialización de madera , petróleo, piedras preciosas, etc.

Gumersindo González. Ex ministro de Transporte y Director de FINTUR (Banco para el Financiamiento del Turismo).

Alejandro Jorge. Teniente Coronel de la Inteligencia Cubana. Representante en Cuba de un conjunto de empresas europeas teniendo prioridad como suministrador para las empresas cubanas vinculadas al turismo.

Silvino Colas Sánchez . General de Brigada, ex ministro de Comunicaciones, Director de Comunicaciones de las Fuerzas Armadas. A través de la firma internacional ETECSA, monopolio de las comunicaciones en Cuba , ha recibido grandes comisiones.

Eduardo Delgado Izquierdo. General, Jefe de los Servicios de Inteligencia. Es depositario de sumas importantes de dinero (no controlado) en Panamá, México y España.

General Santiago. Fue el depositario de todos los recursos incautados en la causa No, 1 y la causa No. 2 por narcotráfico. Posteriormente fue acusado de haberse apropiado de grandes cantidades de dinero. Actualmente se encuentra en un semi-retiro.

Orlando Romero. Durante muchos años Director de la empresa importadora-exportadora Medicuba, teniendo participación personal en todas las operaciones comerciales vinculadas a la exportación e importación de medicamentos, materias primas farmacéuticas, equipos y suministros médicos.

Juan José Vega. Como Presidente del Grupo Cubanacan ha recibido comisiones de los inversionistas en el sector hotelero.

Conrado Martínez Corona. Presidente del Poder Popular de Ciudad Habana y ex Presidente del Instituto de Deportes y Educación Física(INDER) .Apropiación de distintos premios otorgados a los atletas cubanos y comisiones de los suministradores de artículos deportivos a Cuba.

MOVING TO MEXICO

Dear President Obama:

I'm planning to move my family and extended family into Mexico for my health, and I would like to ask you to assist me.

We're planning to simply walk across the border from the U.S. into Mexico, and we'll need your help to make a few arrangements.

We plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws.

I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here. So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Pena Nieto, that I'm on my way over?

Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:

1. Free medical care for my entire family.

2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.

3. Please print all Mexican Government forms in English.

4. I want my grandkids to be taught Spanish by English-speaking (bi-lingual) teachers.

5. Tell their schools they need to include classes on American culture and history.

6. I want my grandkids to see the American flag on one of the flag poles at their school.

7. Please plan to feed my grandkids at school for both breakfast and lunch.

8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services.

9. I do plan to get a car and drive in Mexico, but I don't plan to purchase car insurance, and I probably won't make any special effort to learn local traffic laws.

10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from their president to leave me alone, please be sure that every patrol car has at least one English-speaking officer.

11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my housetop, put U S. flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.

12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, or have any labor or tax laws enforced on any business I may start.

13. Please have the president tell all the Mexican people to be extremely nice and never say critical things about me or my family, or about the strain we mig ht place on their economy.

14. I want to receive free food stamps.

15. Naturally, I'll expect free rent subsidies.

16. I'll need income tax credits so that although I don't pay Mexican taxes, I'll receive money from the government.

17. Please arrange it so that the Mexican Government pays $4,500.00 to help me buy a new car.

18. Oh yes, I almost forgot, please enroll me free into the Mexican Social Security program so that I'll get a monthly income in retirement.

I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all his people who walk over to the U.S. from Mexico. I am sure that President Nieto won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.
