“With an endless parade of distractions, political posturing, and phony
scandals, Washington has taken its eye off the ball,” Barack Obama said in a
speech at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill. on July 24, 2013.
“If four Americans get killed, it’s not OPTIMAL.”–Obama’s calloused, abnormally
detached, and incredibly narcissistic response to Comedy Central’s John
Stewart’s question about the changing story of the Benghazi attack.
Does Obama think that the Muslim terrorist attack on our consulate in
Libya on 9/11/2012 didn’t really happen and that four Americans (Ambassador
Chris Stevens, Glenn Doherty, Sean Smith, and Ty Woods) weren’t actually
murdered?
The Obama Laundry List of Phony Scandals
1. IRS targets Obama’s enemies: The
IRS targeted conservative and pro-Israel groups prior to the 2012 election.
Questions are being raised about why this occurred, who ordered it, whether
there was any White House involvement, and whether there was an initial effort
to hide who knew about the targeting and when.
2. Benghazi: This
is actually three treasonous scandals into one:
a) The failure of the administration to
protect the Benghazi mission.
b) The Obama administration changed the talking points in order to suggest
the attack was motivated by an anti-Muslim video.
c) The intense stonewalling, complete
shutdown, and absolute refusal of the White House to say what President Obama
did the night of the attack.
d) Breaking 200 plus years of honorable American military tradition to
never leave any solider behind.
3. Spying on the the AP: The Justice Department stole a plethora of Associated Press
reporters’ phone records as part of a leak investigation.
4. James Rosengate: The
Justice Department suggested that Fox News reporter James Rosen is a criminal
for reporting about classified information and subsequently monitored his
phones and emails.
5. The Holder perjury I: Attorney
General Eric Holder told Congress that he had never been associated with
“potential prosecution” of a journalist for perjury when, in fact, he
personally signed the affidavit that alleged Fox News reporter James Rosen was
a potential criminal.
6. The ATF “Fast and Furious” debacle: Allowed weapons from the U.S. to “walk” across the border into the
hands of Mexican drug dealers. The ATF lost track of hundreds of firearms,
many of which were used in crimes (including the December 2010 killing of
Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.)
7. Holder Perjury II: During
congressional hearings held on May 3, 2011, Congressman Darrell Issa asked AG
Eric Holder when he first knew about the “Fast and Furious” gun walking scheme.
Eric Holder replied under oath: “I am not sure about the exact date but I
probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few
weeks.” Holder flat out lied to Congress under oath;”Project Gun Runner” (Fast
and Furious) was launched by Obama with Holder’s full knowledge on March 24,
2009. Holder is guilty of perjury and should be arrested.
8. Secretary Kathleen Sebelius runs an extortion
racket: HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius
solicited donations from companies HHS might regulate. The money would be used
to help her sign up uninsured Americans for ObamaCare.
9. The Pigford scandal: A U.S. Agriculture Department effort that began as an attempt to
compensate black farmers who had been discriminated against by the agency, but
developed into a gravy train delivering $1.33 billion in cash to thousands of
additional minority and female farmers – some of whom never once faced any
discrimination or had ever even claimed to have suffered from any bias.
10. GSA frantically out of control The General Services Administration in 2010 held an $823,000
training conference in Las Vegas, featuring a clown and mind-readers. This
resulted in the resignation of the GSA administrator.
11. Extortion 17:
On August 6, 2011, a U.S. Boeing CH-47 Chinook military helicopter, call sign
“Extortion 17”, was shot down during a mission transporting a quick reaction force attempting
to reinforce an engaged unit of Army Rangers in Wardak province, west of Kabul, Afghanistan.
The resulting crash killed all 38 people on board—25 American special
operations personnel, five United States Army National Guard and Army Reserve
crewmen, seven Afghan commandos, and one Afghan
interpreter—as well as a U.S. military working dog. It is the worst loss of U.S
Military life in the Afghanistan campaign. On May 3, 2011 Vice President Joseph
R. “Joe” Biden Jr., leaked confidential information to the media that
jeopardized the lives of all Navy SEALs and their families, said Karen L.
Vaughn, mother of deceased U.S. Navy SEAL Aaron C. Vaughn. SEALs are the Navy’s
principal special operations force and a part of the Naval Special Warfare
Command and U.S. Special Operations Command. Family members of the 38 military
personnel killed in the Aug. 6, 2011 helicopter crash in Afghanistan called for
a congressional investigation into the failed Navy flight operation conducted
in war-ridden Afghanistan.
At the ramp ceremony at the Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan given for our
dead soldiers, whose bodies were being transported back to the United States, a
Muslim cleric was invited by the Obama White House to give a eulogy for our
fallen soldiers. Here are the words (translated from Arabic) that the Muslim
cleric spoke over the flag-draped coffins, damning the souls of our dead
heroes:
“Amen, I shelter in Allah the merciful forgiver. The companions of the
fire, the sinners and the infidels who are fodder for hell fire are not equal
with the companions of heaven. The companions of heaven, Muslims are the
winners. Had we sent this Koran to a mountain, you would have seen the mountain
prostrated in fear of Allah. (Mocking the God of Moses) Such examples are what
we present to the people, to the people so that they would think. (Repent and
convert to Islam). Blessing are to your God (Allah) the God of glory of what
they describe. And peace be upon the messengers (prophets) and thanks be to

US Unemployment Rate Is Really 14.3

Government statistics are hiding the true
unemployment rate.
While the Bureau Labor Statistics says the unemployment rate has been around 7.5 or 7.6 percent in recent months, it's really 14.3 percent.
Why the difference? The commonly cited unemployment number ignores people who want to work but are no longer actively seeking jobs and counts part-time workers as employed even if they'd prefer full-time jobs.

The government statistic called U-6, however, does take into account those groups, people the government calls "marginally attached" to the labor force.
In June the U-6 was 14.3 percent, unemployment worse than in Italy and Ireland, notes the International Business Times. It's almost 3 percentage points higher than the European Union's unemployment rate.
While the U.S. population has increased by 12.4 million since December 2007, the labor force as increased by just 1.9 million, the Times notes. The number of people not employed or not seeking work increased by 10.1 million.
The number of part-time workers has doubled over the last five years, increasing by 322,000 just since May. Even the 14.3 percent U6 number may be worse than it seems because many new jobs are part time.
Another statistic to consider is the employment-to-population ratio, which is the lowest in decades. In other words, a smaller percentage of adults are working. The ratio was 58.7 percent in June, compared with 63 percent five years ago.
Former BLS Commissioner Keith Hall calls the publicized unemployment rate is "misleadingly low," according to the New York Post. A more accurate measure is about 3 percentage points higher, around 10.6, he notes.
The commonly cited number counts people who work only a few hours a month as employed, Hall tells Post. But if people are not actively seeking work, they are not counted as unemployed.
The U-6 figure is a more accurate measure, says Hall, a senior research fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.
"If the jobless rate is unacceptable at 7.6 percent, it’d be shockingly bad if he is right and the true rate is 10.6 percent," the Post states.
"This has been a very slow, very bad recovery," Hall tells the newspaper. "And I think the numbers have really struggled as a result. In fact, I’ve been very disappointed in the coverage of the numbers."
Still, he believes Federal Reserve officials understand the different numbers.
"They are smart guys and understand data."

Four dead in Benghazi and many seriously injured under
suspicious circumstances, a government cover up, witnesses gagged, questions
unanswered, investigations derailed. That’s not a scandal?
Reporters’ records seized, false allegations leveled
by DOJ, reporters threatened, reporters and editors prevented from doing their
jobs, cover-ups, government intimidation. That’s not a scandal?
Guns run to drug cartels in Mexico, hundreds killed
with them (including our border agents), no following-up to arrest perpetrators
(instead ANOTHER cover-up), allegations that American guns cause Mexican
violence, border security virtually ignored, government interference with
investigations. That’s not a scandal?
The EPA used as a legislative arm of the executive
branch, installing rules that Congress voted down (a clear violation of the
Constitution.) The EPA also used to persecute political opposition.
Not a scandal?
NSA surveillance you authorized seriously suspected of violating citizen
rights, and that’s not a scandal?
Recess appointments and an illegal war in Libya, both
impeachable offenses. Not a scandal?
The IRS used to stomp down conservative groups so they
cannot educate and influence citizens about Founding principles that contradict
your radicalism. This is clearly an unconstitutional use of power,
amounting to illegal political activity. That is a phony scandal?
ObamaCare, passed illegally and unethically; called a
train wreck by the very man who helped write it and get it through Congress;
promises to bankrupt the country; a measure designed to redistribute wealth and
not provide care; a series of laws and regulations violating privacy, the
doctor-patient relationship, and the sovereignty of the states. That is
not a scandal?
Your records, Mr. President. You’ve released
virtually nothing about your life, your education, your term in the Illinois
legislature, nothing. Now a respected country sheriff and his
investigators, along with document experts, insist that the birth certificate
you released is a forgery. This means you are hiding something, that it
is likely you are not ‘natural born,’ a requirement in the Constitution for
becoming President. And this is not a scandal, Mr. Obama?
What would qualify as a scandal in your view, Mr.
Obama? Oh. That’s right. You have already answered that
question. It’s scandalous for citizens to own guns, possess private
property, keep the fruits of their labor, determine for themselves what kind of
schools they prefer, select their own doctor, speak up about matters of
conscience, freely exercise their religion, advocate original founding
principles, or worse yet, join the Tea Party.
Barack
Obama is threatening to shut the Government Down Unless Obama Care Is Fully
Funded... Tell Him to Bring it On.
As a matter of fact, Senators Mike Lee, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and nine other Senators have already sent a letter to Harry Reid saying that they will vote AGAINST ANYbill that contains funding for ObamaCare.
But there's a problem... the GOP establishment isn't just running for cover, they're fighting Lee, Cruz and Paul tooth-and-nail... they're actually telling lies to the American people... and some have even reversed their positions and have gone so far as to say that defunding ObamaCare is "stupid"... all to AVOID ACTUALLY DEFUNDING OBAMACARE... We're not about to let them get away with it.
Why? Rush Limbaugh said it best on Monday: "I don't think they were ever serious about repealing health care, the Republicans. I don't think they ever were. I think that it has been lip service from the get-go."
And now that Lee, Cruz, Paul and others have called their hand, cut through the lip-service, and put a serious proposal on the table that can actually stop ObamaCare... the establishment is scrambling... they're trying to hoodwink you... they'll say anything... do anything... to give themselves political cover to avoid stopping ObamaCare's implementation.
So we're going to put every Republican Member of the Senate on notice: Stop the lies... stop the evasions... stop the surrenders... and do not authorize one thin dime for the implementation of ObamaCare... PERIOD.
'Stop with the napping': TSA
workers caught sleeping on the job
A new government audit says the Transportation Security Administration is
failing to uniformly discipline airport screeners who break the rules. NBC's
Pete Williams reports.

The chairman of a congressional subcommittee
on oversight and management efficiency Wednesday called on the Transportation
Security Administration to crack down on “the napping, the stealing, the
tardiness, and the disrespect” a day after a watchdog’s report revealed a spike
in TSA misconduct.
The TSA investigated and closed 9,622
cases of employee misconduct between the years 2010 and 2012, according to
a report released Tuesday by the Government Accountability Office.
The figure marked a 26 percent increase
in misconduct cases in a three-year period.
Thirty-two percent of the cases involved
problems with workers showing up for their jobs, according to the report, and
20 percent had to do with security and screening.
The report was released ahead of a hearing before the House Homeland Security
Committee on Wednesday morning that included representatives from the TSA and
GAO.
In one case mentioned in the GAO report,
an employee left an assigned checkpoint to help a family member get a bag --
later found to contain "numerous prohibited items" -- past screening.
The employee was suspended for seven days, according to the report.
In another case from January 2012, two
former employees of the TSA were sentenced to six months in jail after they
admitted to have stolen $40,000 from a bag at John F. Kennedy Airport, NBC New
York reported.
Of the more than 9,000 misconduct cases
closed by the TSA over the three-year period, nearly half resulted in a letter
of reprimand, while employees were suspended in 31 percent of cases, according
to the report. Only 17 percent of the employees found to have engaged in
misconduct were removed from their jobs.
Rep. Jeff Duncan, R-S.C., the chairman
of the subcommittee on oversight and management efficiency, said on Wednesday
that a few bad employees contributed to a poor public perception for the
agency.
At a House hearing on TSA integrity and misconduct by airport security
personnel, Chairman Jeff Duncan, R-S.C., called upon them to "stop with
the napping, the stealing, the tardiness, and the disrespect. Earn Americans'
trust and confidence."
“While I know that there are many
thousands of hardworking, dedicated employees working at airports throughout
the country, and it’s unfair to generalize to the whole workforce,
unfortunately a few bad apples can ruin the bunch,” Duncan said. “These
findings are especially hard to stomach since so many Americans todays are sick
of being groped, interrogated, and treated like criminals when passing through
checkpoints.”
“If integrity is truly a core value,
then, TSA, it’s time to prove it. Stop with the napping, the stealing, the
tardiness, and the disrespect, and earn America’s trust and confidence,” Duncan
said.
TSA Deputy Administrator John Halinski
said that in cases where it can be immediately proved that an employee
committed a form of misconduct, “I’m going to walk him out the door.” Most
cases of alleged wrongdoing require an investigation, he said.
The agency is nearly 12 years old, and
has 55,000 employees and a budget of more than $7.5 billion.
The need for strict guidelines on how to
discipline employee infractions had led to inconsistencies, said Rep. Bennie
Thompson, D-Miss.
“The bulk of employee misconduct cases
are handled at the airport level, meaning that what happens at one airport may
differ from what happens at another,” Thompson said in an opening statement.
The variety of workplaces involved
“underscores the need to have clearly defined and consistently applied
procedures” regarding employee discipline, Stephen Lord, GAO director of
forensic audits and investigative services, said at the hearing on Wednesday.
The GAO report included four
recommendations for executive action, all of which have been endorsed by the
TSA, Lord said on Wednesday. The recommendations include developing guidelines
to record and report misconduct for TSA officials at all airports and establish
a review process for all allegations of misbehavior.

Obama's Creeping Authoritarianism. Daniel Henninger

For somebody which unfortunately has lived during
different systems ofgovernment in Cuba, it is easy to
discern when you are living under an authoritarian president.
The political left, historically inclined by
ideological belief to public policy that is imposed rather than legislated,
supports Mr. Obama's expansion of authority, but the level of authoritarism of
Obama has raised to a point never seen before in this country with the
complicity of the press.
Agreed, authoritarianism is less oppressive than
totalitarism, but as we learned under Batista, the results are undesirable in
both systems.
Separation of powers is the proven system for a
democratic government, besides, there is always a small step for an
authoritarian to become a totalitarian.
Daniel Hennirger tells us in his article a phrase
repeated from “a few” to the “many” at the beginning of the mandate
given by the people to Fidel Castro……..…. “Please don't complain later

Henninger: Obama's Creeping Authoritarianism. Imposed law replaces checks and balances.
If we learned
anything about Barack Obama in his first term it is that when he
starts repeating the same idea over and over, what's on his mind is something
else.
The first
term's over-and-over subject was "the wealthiest 1%." Past some
point, people wondered why he kept beating these half-dead horses. After the
election, we knew. It was to propagandize the targeted voting base that would
provide his 4% popular-vote margin of victory—very young voters and minorities.
They believed. He won.
The second-term
over-and-over, elevated in his summer speech tour, is the shafting of the
middle class. But the real purpose here isn't the speeches' parboiled
proposals. It is what he says the shafting of the middle class is forcing him
to do. It is forcing him to "act"—to undertake an unprecedented exercise
of presidential power in domestic policy-making. ObamaCare was legislated. In
the second term, new law will come from him.
Please don't complain later that you didn't see it coming. As always, Mr. Obama states
publicly what his intentions are. He is doing that now. Toward the end of his
speech last week in Jacksonville, Fla., he said: "So where I can act on my
own, I'm going to act on my own. I won't wait for Congress." (Applause.)
The July 24
speech at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill., has at least four references to his
intent to act on his own authority, as he interprets it: "That means
whatever executive authority I have to help the middle class, I'll use
it." (Applause.) And: "We're going to do everything we can, wherever
we can, with or without Congress."
Every president
since George Washington has felt frustration with the American system's
impediments to change. This president is done with Congress.
The political
left, historically inclined by ideological belief to public policy that is
imposed rather than legislated, will support Mr. Obama's expansion of
authority. The rest of us should not.
The U.S. has a
system of checks and balances. Mr. Obama is rebalancing the system toward a
national-leader model that is alien to the American tradition.
To create public
support for so much unilateral authority, Mr. Obama needs to lessen support for
the other two branches of government—Congress and the judiciary. He is doing
that.
Mr. Obama and
his supporters in the punditocracy are defending this escalation by arguing
that Congress is "gridlocked." But don't overstate that low
congressional approval rating. This is the one branch that represents the views
of all Americans. It's gridlocked because voters are.
Take a closer
look at the Galesburg and Jacksonville speeches. Mr. Obama doesn't merely
criticize Congress. He mocks it repeatedly. Washington "ignored"
problems. It "made things worse." It "manufactures" crises
and "phony scandals." He is persuading his audiences to set Congress
aside and let him act.
So too the judiciary.
During his 2010 State of the Union speech, Mr. Obama denounced the Supreme
Court Justices in front of him. The National Labor Relations Board has
continued to issue orders despite two federal court rulings forbidding it to do
so. Attorney General Eric Holder says he will use a different section of the
Voting Rights Act to impose requirements on Southern states that the Supreme
Court ruled illegal. Mr. Obama's repeated flouting of the judiciary and its
decisions are undermining its institutional authority, as intended.
The three
administration nominees enabled by the Senate's filibuster deal—Richard Cordray
at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Thomas Perez at the Labor
Department and EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy—open a vast swath of American
life to executive authority on steroids. There won't be enough hours in the day
for Mr. Obama to "act on my own."
In a recent
Journal op-ed, "Obama Suspends the Law," former federal judge Michael
McConnell noted there are few means to stop a president who decides he is not
obligated to execute laws as passed by Congress. So there's little reason to
doubt we'll see more Obamaesque dismissals of established law, as with
ObamaCare's employer mandate. Mr. Obama is pushing in a direction that has the
potential for a political crisis.
A principled
opposition would speak out. Barack Obama is right that he isn't running again.
But the Democratic Party is. Their Republican opponents should force the
party's incumbents to defend the president's creeping authoritarianism.
If Democratic
Senate incumbents or candidates from Louisiana, Alaska, Missouri, Arkansas,
North Carolina, Montana and Iowa think voters should accede to a new American
system in which a president forces laws into place as his prerogative rather
than first passing them through Congress, they should be made to say so.
And to be sure,
the other purpose of the shafted middle-class tour is to demolish the GOP's
standing with independent voters and take back the House in 2014. If that
happens—and absent a more public, aggressive Republican voice it may—an
unchecked, unbalanced presidential system will finally arrive.
A final
quotation on America's system of government: "To ensure that no person or
group would amass too much power, the founders established a government in
which the powers to create, implement, and adjudicate laws were separated. Each
branch of government is balanced by powers in the other two coequal

empleados condales vinculados al piso 29, que es donde se encuentra la oficina
del regidor.
Una fuente comenzó por
recordar que en época de Alex Penelas, el abogado y cabildero Jorge Luis López
era a quien había que llegar para acercarse al entonces alcalde. Esto, tanto
cuando López era su principal asistente, hasta después, cuando dejo ese
trabajo.
Lo mismo ocurrió cuando
la era de Carlos Álvarez, siguio diciendo, agregando que Jorge Luis se las
ingenió para de nuevo ser el hombre fuerte; “quien quisiera tener éxito en
cualquier contrato con el condado tenía que contratar a Jorge Luis López, o a
su socio, Pablo Acosta, eso ha cambiado”, nos dijeron las fuentes que nos
contactaron.
Y en la primera etapa de
Carlos Giménez, Jorge Luis gozaba de una tremenda influencia, entraba y salía
de la oficina, el alcalde le llamaba cariñosamente “Georgie”, pero eso ha
cambiado en los últimos meses. “Es más, desde que asumió el segundo término
Giménez, Jorge Luis comenzó a caer”, nos dijo una de las fuentes.
Según se nos comentó, el
nuevo hombre fuerte del alcalde Giménez es Ralph García Toledo, quien durante
la campaña a la alcaldía era su chofer. “Se convirtió en su sombra”, nos dice
la fuente, “y eso ha hecho que García Toledo hayaascendido y logrado tener más
influencia ahora que el abogado-cabildero Jorge Luis López”.
Recientemente ambos
cabilderos viajaron con Giménez a España y Francia, viaje que ha causado
controversia porque los que le critican dicen que “cómo es posible que un
alcalde viaje con dos cabilderos, eso es conflicto de intereses”. Hay algunos
que han pedido que el Inspector General inicie una investigación y otros han
hablados hasta de elevar la queja a la Comisión de Ética.
Sin embargo, otras
fuentes no le han prestado atención al hecho de que tanto García Toledo como
Jorge Luis López hayan viajado con Giménez, aunque si están de acuerdo en que
el abogado-cabildero ha bajado sus acciones en el condado.
Otras fuentes
contactadas dicen que aparentemente el alcalde Giménez está presionando a Jorge
Luis con el asunto del Miami Heat, que no acaba de darle ni un centavo al condado
y ya busca que se le conceda una extensión del contrato en la American Airlines
Arena. López es cabildero del Heat.
Según le contaron a
NHR.com quienes se acercaron a comentar sobre el ambiente en al ayuntamiento
condal, los comisionados no quieren ni siquiera mencionar el tema del Heat.

Embattled IRS official Lois Lerner and an
attorney for the Federal Elections Commissions appear to have colluded against
at least one conservative group applying for tax-exempt status, reports the
National Review Online.
House Ways and Means Committee chairman Dave Camp, a Michigan Republican, and oversight-subcommittee chairman Charles Boustany, a Louisiana Republican, are calling on the IRS to release all communications between the agency and the FEC between 2008 and 2012.
"The American public is entitled to know whether the IRS is inappropriately sharing their confidential tax information with other agencies," they wrote in a letter they are reportedly sending to acting IRS administrator Danny Werfel.
Also this week, a report by Republicans on the House Ways and Means Committee indicates tea party and other conservative groups were, on average, asked three times as many questions as progressive groups. And conservative groups were less likely to be approved for tax-exempt status and more likely to have their applications delayed, the report said.
"The facts are very clear — not only were conservative groups targeted by the IRS, but they received much higher scrutiny than progressives," Camp said.

The IRS has been under siege since May when agency officials acknowledged that agents working in a Cincinnati office had improperly targeted tea party groups for extra scrutiny when they applied for tax-exempt status. Now, correspondence discovered by the House Ways and Means Committee, and obtained by National Review, suggests targeting conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the elections commission.
A lawyer from the FEC's enforcement division received tax information about the status of the conservative American Future Fund. The attorney reportedly then recommended the FEC prosecute the group for violations of campaign-finance law.
The timing of the correspondence suggests that the lawyer obtained the information in order to influence the FEC's vote for conservative groups' applying for tax-exempt status, the National Review Online reports.
But in its recommendation, the general counsel's office reportedly did not tell the election agency's six commissioners how it had obtained the information about the group's tax-exempt status. The office is prohibited under law from conducting an investigation into an organization before the commissioners have voted to do so.
As the commission's Feb. 3, 2009 vote approached, the FEC lawyer apparently went back to Lerner for an update, writing: "Could you please tell me whether the IRS has since issued an exemption letter to the American Future Fund?"
In the end, the six FEC commissioners voted six to zero to close the case. Lerner took the Fifth in refusing to testify before a congressional committee in May. She is on paid administrative leave and is seeking full immunity before she testifies.
Still, Camp has pledged to push forward with his investigation of the IRS' targeting of conservative groups.
"We have received less than 3 percent of the documents responsive to the investigation," he said. "So, Congress will continue to investigate how the targeting began, why it was allowed to continue for so long and what the IRS is doing to resolve this. Americans deserve to know the full truth."
The IRS said in a statement that 70 agency lawyers are working full-time to review documents for congressional inquiries.
"The IRS is aggressively responding to the numerous data requests we've received from Congress," IRS spokeswoman Michelle Eldridge said. "We are doing everything we can to fully cooperate with the committees, and we strongly disagree with any suggestions to the contrary."
A report by the IRS inspector general said the agency gave extra scrutiny to 298 groups when they applied for tax exempt status from the spring of 2010 to the spring of 2012.
A total of 104 applications included the labels "conservative," ''tea party," ''patriot" or "9-12" in their names, according to the Ways and Means report, which is consistent with the inspector general's report. Seven included the words "progressive" or "progress."
While processing the applications, IRS agents asked the progressive groups an average of 4.7 questions and eventually approved all seven applications, according to the analysis by Ways and Means Republicans. Some progressive groups, however, complained about lengthy delays.
The conservative groups were asked an average of 14.9 questions and, as of May 31, only 48 applications had been approved. The other 56 applications were either pending or withdrawn. None was denied.
Rep. Sander Levin of Michigan, the top Democrat on the Ways and Means Committee, said the analysis omits other liberal or progressive groups that don't have the word "progressive" in their names.
"This is a recurring problem in this investigation — the release of incomplete information," Levin said. "Indeed, that is exactly what led to fundamental flaws in the (inspector general's) report."
During the 2010 and 2012 elections, IRS agents singled out groups that had "tea party," ''patriots," and "9-12" in their applications, according to a May report by IRS inspector general J. Russell George. George's report determined that these groups received extra, sometimes burdensome scrutiny that delayed their applications for more than a year.
George's report did not mention progressive groups. He told a congressional committee this month that, despite a year-long inquiry, the IRS just recently provided him documents suggesting that progressive groups may have been targeted.
The IRS was screening the groups' applications because agents were trying to determine their level of political activity. IRS regulations say tax-exempt social welfare organizations may engage in some political activity, but the activity may not be their primary mission. It is up to the IRS to make that determination.
"The inspector general just testified that his audit was based on an incomplete set of documents that was missing key information about progressive groups, and now House Republicans are making the same mistake," said Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland, the top Democrat on the House oversight committee. "Rather than conducting a responsible investigation to determine all of the facts, Republicans are desperate to continue making completely unsubstantiated accusations of political motivation."

Economía
España registra
capacidad para financiarse por primera vez desde 1997 enviado por Alberto Perez.
La economía
española experimentó en los cinco primeros meses del año, por primera vez desde
1997, una capacidad de financiación por importe de 2.487 millones de euros, en
contraste con la necesidad de financiación de 14.309,3 millones contabilizada
en igual periodo de 2012, según ha destacado este miércoles el Banco de España
en su estadística sobre la balanza de pagos.
La capacidad o
necesidad de financiación de la economía se mide a partir del saldo agregado de
las cuentas corrientes y de capital. Así, el déficit acumulado de la balanza
por cuenta corriente se situó en 1.209,7 millones de euros en los cinco
primeros meses de este año, lo que representa un descenso del 92,4% respecto a
los 15.997,5 millones registrados en el mismo periodo de 2012.
Esta disminución
se debió principalmente a la "notable" corrección del déficit
comercial y a la mejora de los saldos de rentas y de servicios, mientras que el
déficit de la balanza de transferencias corrientes se incrementó ligeramente.
En concreto, el
déficit de la balanza comercial se situó hasta mayo en 2.768,1 millones de
euros, un 79,3% menos que en el mismo periodo de 2012, con las exportaciones
creciendo al 8,6% y las importaciones bajando al 2,4%.
Según el Banco de
España, la reducción del déficit comercial se explica por la
"apreciable" ampliación del superávit no energético y, en menor
medida, por la disminución del déficit energético.
En la balanza de servicios, el superávit
ascendió a 12.752,5 millones de euros, un 12,9% más que un año atrás, como
resultado de la ampliación tanto del superávit del turismo y viajes como de
otros servicios.
Así, el superávit
de la rúbrica de turismo y viajes alcanzó los 10.468,2 millones en los cinco
primeros meses del año, un 5% más que en igual periodo de 2012, mientras que el
saldo de los otros servicios contabilizó un superávit de 2.284,3 millones de
euros, un 72,9% más.
El déficit de la
balanza de rentas, por su parte, disminuyó hasta los 5.716,9 millones de euros
hasta mayo, frente a los 8.645,8 millones del mismo periodo del año pasado, en
tanto que la balanza de transferencias corrientes aumentó ligeramente hasta
5.477,3 millones, un 5% más.
SUPERAVIT EN LA
CUENTA DE CAPITAL
Por su lado, el
saldo de la cuenta de capital, que recoge, entre otros conceptos, las
transferencias de capital procedentes de la UE, contabilizó un superávit de
3.696,7 millones de euros, frente a los 1.688,2 millones del mismo periodo del
año pasado.
Entre enero y
mayo, las operaciones financieras de los distintos sectores residentes,
excluido el Banco de España, medidas por el saldo de su cuenta financiera,
originaron entradas netas de capital por valor de 40.345 millones de euros,
frente a las salidas de 165.064,2 millones de un año atrás.
En consecuencia,
los activos netos del Banco de España frente al exterior aumentaron hasta mayo
en 48.553,5 millones de euros, en contraste con el recorte de 176.612,9 millones
registrado en los cuatro primeros meses del año pasado.

Act Now Before You Lose Your Doctor
The Association of Medical Colleges predicts that by 2020 the U.S. will have a shortage of 90,000 doctors.
One of the missing could easily be yours.
This is an artificial shortage created by ObamaCare.

It’s actually cheaper for businesses to pay the fine than buy expensive ObamaCare insurance!
Millions of working Americans will be forced to go to government-run exchanges to get healthcare for themselves and their families.
And guess who will pay for these folks if they don’t bother to get insurance? You got it — you and me!
And for those who stay on insurance, the nightmare has only just begun.
Since ObamaCare became law in 2010, insurance premiums have already been skyrocketing — up almost 30% and the law hasn ™t even been implemented!

The Association of Medical Colleges predicts that by 2020 the U.S. will have a shortage of 90,000 doctors.

El Comité para la Eliminación de
la Violencia contra las Mujeres exige al gobierno cubano que afronte la
realidad y sus causas económicas
Cuba
debe asumir que en el país existe la explotación sexual y la prostitución y que
éstas tienen causas económicas, por lo que tendría que tratar de erradicar las
causas que derivan en la explotación femenina, según urgió ayer el Comité por
la Eliminación de la Violencia contra las Mujeres de la ONU.
El Comité tiene por objetivo
velar por que los Estados miembros de la Convención sobre la Eliminación de
Todas las Formas de Violencia contra las Mujeres -de la que Cuba es parte-
acaben con la discriminación política, económica, social, cultural y civil
contra las féminas.
"El Comité está
profundamente preocupado porque el Estado Parte no reconoce la existencia de la
explotación de la prostitución", rezan las conclusiones sobre el país
caribeño hechas públicas.
"Además, el Comité está
también preocupado por la falta de esfuerzos para evitar la explotación de la
prostitución y acabar con sus causas
estructurales, así como la falta de protección y servicios
disponibles para las víctimas de esa explotación". Por ello el Comité urge
al estado cubano a que haga todo lo necesario para acabar con las causas
estructurales de la prostitución y el tráfico, que velen por que las mujeres y
las niñas no sea estigmatizadas, y se aseguren que éstas accedan a programas de
rehabilitación y asistencia básica como refugios.
Una respuesta sorprendente
Esta advertencia del Comité
aparece tras la respuesta aportada por el gobierno isleño durante el análisis
de su caso, en el que aseguró que "el fenómeno de la prostitución no tiene
causas estructurales en Cuba, ya que fueron eliminadas tras el triunfo de la
Revolución".
Las autoridades cubanas
contestaron al Comité que la prostitución en Cuba "constituye una elección
personal de las mujeres y hombres que buscan en el ejercicio de la prostitución
una vía para acceder a determinados bienes de consumo que propicien un nivel de
vida superior al del resto de la población trabajadora, y en algunos casos emigrar
al exterior".
Por otra parte, el Comité
solicita que cuando se autoricen excepcionalmente matrimonios entre cónyuges
menores de 18 años, el enlace sea con el acuerdo explícito de los dos
contrayentes, y sobre todo, que ambos tengan como mínimo 16 años. Hasta la
fecha, para poder llevar a cabo este tipo de matrimonio excepcional, el varón
debe tener como mínimo 16 años, pero la mujer sólo necesita ser mayor de 14.
Discriminación sexual
Otro de los aspectos tratados
por el Comité es la falta de educación no sexista existente en el país, por lo
que se solicita que se implementen planes transversales para que haya una
educación de la paridad y la igualdad entre sexos. El Comité hace hincapié en
que esto es necesario, sobre todo, en las áreas rurales, donde las mujeres
están más sometidas y tienen menor acceso a asesoramiento y ayuda.
En el mismo sentido, se sugiere
al gobierno cubano a que modifique su código laboral para que incluya
disposiciones que contemplen el principio de igual pago por igual remuneración,

La brigada de bomberos de Londres apela al
sentido común para evitar pagar miles de euros en impuestos derivados de esas
situaciones de emergencia.

que ha vendido más de 30 millones de ejemplares en todo el mundo y ha

Precisamente en ese periodo de tiempo han aumentado significativamente los casos depersonas
que han sido socorridas por los bomberos tras
verse en situaciones de emergencia relacionadas con el uso de esposas.
Al menos eso afirma la brigada de bomberos de Londres, que no niega
que el famoso bestsellerpueda
haber influido en ello, teniendo en cuenta que el libro tiene altas dosis desadomasoquismo.
“No sé si se debe al efecto de Cincuenta
sombras, pero ha aumentado el número de incidentes con esposas",
afirmó Dave Brown, uno de
los miembros de la brigada.

Además, los bomberos añadieron que, desde
2010, han rescatado a 79
personas con las muñecas aprisionadas y
han recibido hasta 1.300
llamadas de socorro de
individuos que se quedaron con partes
del cuerpo atrapadas en utensilios del hogar. Uno de los casos más curiosos
fue el de un hombre que metió sus genitales
en una tostadora y no pudo
remediar la situación hasta que llegaron los bomberos.
Estos incidentes han costado a los
londinenses 377.000 libras esterlinas (más de 433.000
euros) en impuestos,
por lo que la brigada ha hecho público el listado de emergencias atendidas con
el objetivo de concienciar a la población y lograr que se aplique el sentido común; por ejemplo,
manteniendo las llaves cerca en caso de usar esposas.
El año que viene está previsto el estreno de
la película basada en el primer libro, Cincuenta
sombras de Grey. Puede que, entonces, el número de curiosos en problemas aumente todavía más
