Was Obama’s CIA Chief Behind Journalist’s Murder?

According to a hacked email from Defense contractor Stratfor
that was reported on by San Diego Channel
6’s Kimberly Dvorak, it was former counter terrorism czar
and now CIA chief John Brennan—and not Eric Holder’s Department of Justice—who was behind the recently revealed media witch
hunt. Per the email, written by none other than Fred Burton, the president of the huge military contractor
Stratfor, “Brennan is behind the witch hunts of investigative journalists…”
Hundreds of phones were
tapped and emails gone through at the Associated Press and Fox News, all in a
witch hunt to find out who was leaking information that was making the Obama
administration look bad. James Rosen, a seasoned reporter at Fox News for
years, was even named as an enemy of the state, charged under the Espionage
Act. It turned out to be a ploy to get a judge to okay tapping Rosen’s work and
personal phone, along with the phones of friends and family members.
Brennan, then as now in charge of Obama’s drone
assassination program, has
targeted American citizens on foreign soil, specifically the murder of Anwar
al-Awlaki and his 16-year-old son, Abdulrahman, in Yemen, along with five other Yemeni teenagers.
The question is, did Brennan take the witch hunt of
journalists to the next level? That is, did Brennan order the assassination of
an American journalist? It’s really not that far of a stretch, as deeming an
American citizen an enemy of the state, guilty of violating the Espionage
Act—as was done with Fox’s James Rosen—carries the death penalty.
According to the widow of Michael Hastings, the
Rolling Stone reporter killed in a suspicious car crash, Hastings was working
on an exposé of John Brennan. Given that the official story of Hastings’ death is falling apart, do we need to look at John Brennan for answers?
According to the official story, Hastings was traveling at 100 miles per hour when he
hit a tree, causing his 2013 Mercedes Benz C250 to
explode and burst into flames. San Diego Channel 6’s Kimberly Dvorak contacted
a San Diego State University professor
of Mechanics to analyze newly unearthed video of Hastings’ vehicle seconds
before the so-called crash. The professor stated that Hastings was only
traveling 35 miles per hour, not 100 miles per hour as investigators claim.
Further, according to Dvorak, a witness states that the vehicle blew up before it hit
the tree. The unearthed video seems to corroborate this, as multiple explosions
occur prior to the vehicle coming to rest at the base of the tree, not to
mention the fact that there was minimal damage to the tree. Further, the engine and drivetrain were ejected
several hundred feet from the vehicle at a ninety
degree angle to the direction of travel. According to the laws of
physics, this is impossible. This proves the vehicle exploded before hitting
the tree.

Adding further fuel to the conspiracy fire, Hastings
sent out a frantic email hours
before his death, stating that he was working on a big story and needed to go
into hiding, adding that the FBI was investigating him. When the email became
public, the FBI vociferously denied
investigating Hastings; but friends of Hastingsnot only confirm that the FBI was investigating him,
but that the FBI had visited Hastings’ home the day before his death!
The question is not was Michael
Hastings murdered, but who did it?
Did the head of the CIA—John Brennan—order the
assassination of an American citizen on American soil?
Did John Brennan call for Michael Hastings to be tried
under the Espionage Act, and did that prove to be too inconvenient for the head
spook? Sources close to Hastings state not only that Hastings was investigating
Brennan and his rogue CIA agency, but the NSA as well.
Of course, the NSA is playing damage control right
now, being caught with their hand in the cookie jar, vacuuming up virtually all electronic
communications. Just-opened mega database facility the Utah Data Center is
storing virtually all the world’s communications. As revealed by whistleblower
Edward Snowden, under the two NSA programs—PRISM and XKeyscore—the NSA is gorging itself with virtually everything
that travels over wire, fiber optic cables, or satellite: Phone calls, emails,
Facebook posts and chats, Skype, financial transactions, travel arrangements,
even online web browsing and Google searches.
Did Michael Hastings discover that John Brennan had
his hand in this or that he was involved in some other nefarious activity, and
this needed to be hushed up fast?
Perhaps this is all a conspiracy theory.
Or perhaps not.

I’ve written for a couple
years that Barack Hussein Obama is guilty of high treason according to the US
Constitution and that he needs to be impeached. Once impeached, he needs
to be removed from office and imprisoned for the rest of his life without any
of the retirement benefits that retiring presidents receive. Obama and his
fellow liberal Democrats consider me to be a right wing conservative, radical
and to be honest, I don’t mind the description at all. But be prepared
for a black organization to be referred to as Uncle Toms and other racially
derogatory terms. Why? Because they have seen the true Barack Obama
and what he has done since taking office in January 2009. The National Black
Republicans Association, headquartered in Sarasota, Florida have done exactly
what I’ve been advocating someone in Congress do. They have filed
articles of impeachment against Obama. They list a number of high crimes
and misdemeanors that he has committed. Their document reads: “We, black
American citizens, in order to free ourselves and our fellow citizens from
governmental tyranny, do herewith submit these Articles of Impeachment to
Congress for the removal of President Barack H. Obama, aka, Barry Soetoro, from
office for his attack on liberty and commission of egregious acts of despotism
that constitute high crimes and misdemeanors.” They specify the impeachment
power and articles of impeachment, followed by the list of crimes. Under
each article, they give the details supporting their accusations.
Included in their articles of impeachment are: “ARTICLE 1 He has covered up,
delayed, impeded and obstructed the investigation of the Benghazi Battle…. ARTICLE
2 He has disclosed secret grand jury material by exposing the existence of a
sealed indictment of one of the Benghazi attackers in violation of Rule
6(e) of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure that clearly states: “… no
person may disclose the indictment’s existence except as necessary to issue or
execute a warrant or summons.’’ ARTICLE 3 He has authorized and permitted the
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, a division of the Justice
Department, to conduct Operation Fast and Furious, wherein guns were sold to
Mexican drug trafficking organizations that were used to kill innocent Mexican
civilians and two rifles sold to a smuggler in January 2010 ended up at the
scene of the murder of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry in December 2010.
ARTICLE 4 He has authorized and permitted confidential income tax returns
information from the Internal Revenue Service to be provided to unauthorized
individuals, organizations and agencies. ARTICLE 5 He has caused investigations
and audits to be initiated or conducted by the Internal Revenue Service in a
discriminatory manner, including harassment and intimidation of conservative,
evangelical and Tea Party groups applying for non-profit status between 2010
and 2012…. ARTICLE 6 He has (1) authorized and permitted the National Security
Agency to conduct or continue electronic surveillance of over 300 million
average Americans; (2) given access to National Security Agency surveillance
data to other intelligence units within the Drug Enforcement Administration,
the Secret Service, the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland
Security in violation of the law; and (3) conducted the surveillance of average
Americans unconstrained by Congress, the United States Supreme Court or the US
Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court which has, to this date, functioned as
a rubber stamp, having approved every request made of it in 2012 and rejecting
only two of the 8,591 requests submitted between 2008 and 2012. ARTICLE 7 He
has authorized and permitted the Department of Justice to wiretap and secretly
obtain two months of telephone and e-mail records of Fox News Reporter James
Rosen and over one hundred Associated Press journalists. ARTICLE 8 He has
thwarted Congress by (1) failing to enforce all or parts of laws duly enacted
by Congress, including the Defense of Marriage Act, the No Child Left Behind
Act, and the Affordable Care Act; and (2) after Congress refused to pass his
Dream Act, unilaterally issuing an executive order directing immigration officers
to no longer deport an entire class of illegal immigrants who came here as
children, regardless of individual circumstances, and to give them
work-authorization permits. ARTICLE 9 He has violated the Constitution when, on
January 4, 2012, (1) he bypassed the U. S. Senate to appoint three members of
the National Labor Relations Board, actions that were ruled unconstitutional by
the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit which affirmed
previous decisions by the Court of Appeal for the D.C. Circuit and the Third
Circuit; and (2) he bypassed the U. S. Senate to appoint Richard Cordray to
head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. ARTICLE 10 He has intimidated
whistleblowers and brought twice as many prosecutions against whistleblowers as
all prior presidents combined. Egregiously, while refusing to prosecute
anyone for actual torture, he prosecuted former Central Intelligence Agency
employee John Kiriakou for disclosing the torture program. Wherefore Barack H.
Obama, aka Barry Soetoro, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and

list of charges, I would add the charge of treason in aiding and abetting our
enemy. Obama bypassed Congress to free up hundreds of millions of dollars
to the Egyptian government run by the Muslim Brotherhood. He also
provided them with weapons and fighter jets. A live camera feed from a
meeting of the Egyptian counsel clearly recorded them as saying that the United
States was an enemy just like Israel and needed to be destroyed. Since
they consider us an enemy and Obama continued to provide them with money and
arms, that constitutes treason according to Article 3, Section 3 of the
Constitution which reads: “Treason against the United States, shall consist
only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them
Aid and Comfort.” An additional charge that should be included would be his refusal
to comply with the US Constitution and election laws by refusing to provide
proper and authentic proof of meeting all of the requirements necessary to hold
the office of President of the United States. In my opinion, this is the
most egregious crime of all because if Obama is truly not eligible to hold the
office, then he has illegally acted at president and none of these other crimes
should have taken place. He would be an imposter and fraud to the highest
degree. The ironic part of this is that the articles of impeachment are being
filed by blacks. Obama’s mousy little puppet Eric Holder can’t holler
racism like he usually does against any non-black that criticizes Obama.
Instead, it wouldn’t surprise me to see him use terms like Uncle Toms and other
derogatory terms. What I call them are honest Americans trying to stop
the gross injustices committed by a man who should never have been allowed in
the White House to begin with.

nerve. Our country is in real trouble.

Dear
Senator:
I have
tried to live by the rules my entire life. My father was a Command
Sergeant Major, U.S. Army, who died of combat
related stresses shortly after his retirement. It was he who instilled in me those virtues he felt important - honesty,
duty, patriotism and obeying the laws of
God and of our various governments. I
have served my country, paid my taxes,
worked hard, volunteered and donated my fair share of money, time and artifacts.
Today, as I approach my 79th birthday, I am
heart-broken when I look at my country
and my government. I shall only point
out a very few things abysmally wrong which you can multiply by a thousand fold. I have calculated that all the money I have
paid in income taxes my entire life
cannot even keep the Senate barbershop open
for one year! Only Heaven and a
few tight-lipped actuarial types know
what the Senate dining room costs the taxpayers. So please,
enjoy your haircuts and meals on us.
Last
year, the president spent an estimated $1.4 billion on himself and his family. The vice president spends $
millions on hotels. They have had 8
vacations so far this year! And our
House of Representatives and Senate have become America's answer to the Saudi royal family. You have become the "perfumed princes
and princesses" of our country.
In the
middle of the night, you voted in the Affordable Health Care Act, a.k.a. "Obama Care," a bill which
no more than a handful of senators or representatives read more than
several paragraphs, crammed it down our
throats, and then promptly exempted yourselves
from it, substituting your own taxpayer-subsidized golden health care
insurance.
You live
exceedingly well, eat and drink as well as the "one
percenters," consistently vote yourselves perks and pay raises while
making
3.5 times the average U.S. individual income, and give up nothing while
you (as well as the president and veep)
ask us to sacrifice due to sequestration (for which, of course, you plan to blame the Republicans, anyway).
You
understand very well the only two rules you need to know - (1) How to
get elected, and (2) How to get
re-elected. And you do this with the aid of an
eagerly willing and partisan press, speeches permeated with a certain
economy of truth, and by buying the
votes of the greedy, the ill-informed and
under-educated citizens (and non-citizens, too, many of whom do vote)
who are looking for a handout rather
than a job. Your so-called
"safety net" has become a
hammock for the lazy. And, what is it
now, about 49 or 50 million on food
stamps - pretty much all Democratic voters - and the program is absolutely rife with fraud
with absolutely no congressional
oversight?
I would
offer that you are not entirely to blame. What changed you is the seductive environment of power in which you
have immersed yourselves. It is the
nature of both houses of Congress which
requires you to subordinate your virtue in order to get anything done until you have achieved a leadership
role. To paraphrase President Reagan, it appears that the second
oldest profession (politics), bears a
remarkably strong resemblance to the oldest.
As the
hirsute first Baron John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton (1834 - 1902),
English historian and moralist, so aptly and
accurately stated, "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power
corrupts absolutely. Great men are
almost always bad men." I'm only
guessing that this applies to the female
sex as well. Tell me, is there a more corrupt
entity in this country than Congress?
While we
middle class people continue to struggle, our government becomes less
and less transparent, more and more
bureaucratic, and ever so much more dictatorial, using Czars and Secretaries to tell us (just to mention a
very few) what kind of light bulbs we
must purchase, how much soda or hamburgers we can eat, what cars we can drive, gasoline to use and what
health care we must buy. Countless
thousands of pages of regulations strangle our businesses costing the consumer more and more every day.
As I face my final year, or so, with cancer, my
president and my government tell me "You'll just have to take a
pill," while you, Senator, your
colleagues, the president, and other exulted
government officials and their families will get the best possible health care on our tax dollars until you are
called home by your Creator, while also
enjoying a retirement beyond my wildest dreams, which of course, you voted for yourselves and we pay
for.
The
chances of you reading this letter are practically zero as your staff
will not pass it on, but with a little luck, a
form letter response might be generated by them with an auto signature applied, hoping we will believe
that you, our senator or representative,
has heard us and actually cares. This
letter will, however, go online where
many others will have the chance to read one
person's opinion, rightly or wrongly, about this government, its administration and its senators and representatives.
I only
hope that occasionally you might quietly thank the taxpayer for all the generous entitlements which you have
voted yourselves, for which, by law, we must pay, unless, of course, it
just goes on the $17 trillion national
debt for which your children and ours,
and your grandchildren and ours, ad infinitum, must eventually try to pick up the tab.
My final
thoughts are that it must take a person who has either lost his or her soul, or conscience, or both, to seek
re-election and continue to destroy this country I deeply love and put it so far in debt that we will never pay it
off, while your lot improves by the
minute, because of your power. For you,
Senator, will never stand up to the
rascals in your House who constantly deceive the American people. And that, my dear Senator, is how power has corrupted you and the entire Congress.
The only answer to clean up this
cesspool is term limits. This, of course, will kill the goose that lays
your golden eggs. And woe be to him (or her) who would dare
to bring it up.

BLIND?’: CITY COUNCIL MEETING ERUPTS IN APPLAUSE AFTER RETIRED MARINE ISSUES
DIRE WARNING ABOUT U.S. ‘BUILDING A DOMESTIC ARMY’ [UPDATED] Aug. 15, 2013 10:25pm Mike Opelka

A former member of the United States Marine Corps on
Monday night voiced his serious concerns about the U.S. “building a domestic
Army” during a local city council meeting
in Concord, N.H. In his impassioned testimony, the retired Marine said
he believes that the recent push for local police forces to bulk up on
military-grade equipment is disturbing and represents a very real threat to
Americans.
His fears
bring to mind something President Barack Obama actually suggested while running
for president in July 2008:
“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to
achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a
civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just
as well-funded.”
That statement from then-Sen. Obama may have been on
the mind of one participant at the recent Concord City Council meeting.
This past
Monday night, Concord, N.H. held its monthly city council meeting. At the end
of the fairly typical gathering, during the public session, citizens were
allowed to give testimony (stand and speak to the council and the citizens
gathered). One speaker’s comments have started to go viral on the web.
These comments reportedly came from a former colonel
in the United States Marines Corps. The still unidentified former military man
said he was concerned about the way America’s domestic police forces have
started looking more and more like the U.S. military. His statements were
in response to the local police chief’s request for the military grade vehicle
– a Ballistic Engineered Armed Response Counter Attack Truck. These vehicles
are also known as BearCats.

The council
was supposed to vote on this request for the BearCat during the meeting.
The speaker claimed to have worked as a military
defense coordinator – someone who wastraining the Iraqi army. You can watch the 3:09 video and

We don’t need
this.
I’m a retired…
I was a retired Colonel in the Marine Corps.
I saw a sign
hanging in the back that said we want “More Mayberry, Less Fallujah.”
I spent a year
in Fallujah. You know what, when I first got there, I didn’t have armored
Humvees.
I spent…I traveled over 10,000 miles over there.
Sometimes you had to deal with and go with what you had. That’s part of
the job, for one.
And second
thing was… I was a Ministry of Defense Coordinator. Where job was to man, train
and equip the Iraqi Army…and I can tell you right now…Somebody had the idea to
get rid of the Iraqi Army…When we rebuilt it, we did everything we could to
make it as strong as possible. And I’ll tell you right now, Homeland Security
would kick their butts in a week.
What’s
happening here is we’re building a domestic military because it’s unlawful and
unconstitutional to use American troops on American soil. So what we’re doing
is building a military.
My best
friend, who is a SWAT officer in Nashua (NH), came to Iraq with me to train the
Iraqi police, sent me a picture of him in the media, on the streets of
Watertown, MASS, wearing the exact same combat gear we had in Iraq, only was a
different color.
The way we do
things in the military is called “task organization.” You take a command and
then you attach units to it in order to accomplish the mission. What’s
happening is, Homeland Security is pre-staging gear, equipment. What they’re
trying to do is use standardized vehicles, standardized equipment.
I saw a
picture in the Boston Globe during the Boston Marathon bombing, where there was
a State police officer…actually there were two officers, they both had
identical helmets, flak jackets, weapons, everything I wore in Iraq, only it
was all blue. The officer on one side had a big patch that said Massachusetts
State Police…the other officer next to him…his patch said Boston Police.
What we’re
doing here, and let’s not kid about it, we’re building a domestic army and
we’re shrinking the military because the government is afraid of it’s own
citizens.
The last time more than 10 terrorists were in the same
place at the same time was September 11th. And all these
vehicles in the world wouldn’t have prevented it or helped anybody.
So I don’t
know where we’re gonna use this many vehicles and this many troops. Concord is
just one little cog in the wheel. We’re building an army over here and I can’t
believe people aren’t seeing it.
Is everybody

The colonel
offered to take questions from the crowd. None were asked. As he left the mic,
Martino closed by stating, “My wife always tells my kids — there’s always free
cheese in the mousetrap.”
One video
posted online claims that a scheduled vote on the purchase of the BearCat truck
has been postponed until a meeting on September 9th.
TheBlaze has
contacted the municipal offices in Concord and requested a copy of the
transcripts in order to identify and contact the mystery Marine. As soon as we
receive the transcript, we will update the story with more from the Marine.
Update: Several Blaze readers have reached out to TheBlaze
with additional information on this story, including the identity of the retired Marine, Col. Pete Martino. We have
reached out to Martino and are still waiting for a reply.
We also heard from Carla Gericke, the President of the Free
State Project. She
describes her group as, “a
peaceful movement to concentrate 20,000 liberty lovers in New Hampshire.” According to Gericke, her group was also cited as a
“domestic terror threat” by the Concord
city council’s petition for a grant to purchase the $258,000 Leno BearCat vehicle pictured
above. You can see the mention of “Free Staters” in Section 1, paragraph B of
the application.

The Free
Staters were in attendance at the Concord city council meeting. And as you can
see from this photo of them approaching the building, they appear to be a well
organized, and well heeled group. Not exactly along the lines of the typical
OWS crowd.
Carla was one
of the 48 people who testified at the city council meeting. She reports to
TheBlaze that 44 of the 48 were against the proposed purchase of the BearCat,
with only 4 people speaking in favor of the idea.

Republicans call for Obama impeachment

A Florida-based organization of black Republicans is calling for Barack Obama’s
impeachment, releasing “Articles” that charge him with “egregious acts of
despotism that constitute high crimes and misdemeanors.”
According to the Florida WatchdogWire, there are 10 articles
including obstruction of the investigation into the Benghazi, Libya, murder of
four Americans; the scandal of the administration’s running guns to drug ring
lords in Mexico and the Internal Revenue Service’s campaign to obstruct
the operations of conservative and Christian organizations.
The National Black Republican Association is an organization that
is dedicated to returning “black Americans to their Republican Party roots by
enlightening them about how Republicans fought for their freedom and civil rights, and are now
fighting for their educational and economic advancement.”
The organization said the articles were delivered to Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Speaker
John Boehner, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and the Judiciary Committee of
the U.S. House of Representatives.

JUST GOT REAL PERSONAL IN FEUD BETWEEN BILL O’REILLY AND AL SHARPTON

O’Reilly took his feud
with Al Sharpton to the next level on Thursday, alleging that the so-called
civil rights leader came to him and asked for money to benefit his broke Harlem
charity a few years ago, a request that O’Reilly was happy to grant. But that
hasn’t prevented Sharpton from going on MSNBC and slamming the conservative TV
host as anti-poor and even insinuating that he is a racist.
O’Reilly
began on Thursday by claiming Sharpton lied about a report he did on food
stamp fraud
when he took his comments completely out of context. On his show Tuesday,
Sharpton accused O’Reilly of attacking the poor after he did a report about a
healthy man receiving food stamps so he can surf all day and not have to worry
about employment.
“Sharpton, obviously taking my comments
totally out of context, not even mentioning Jason the surfer and basically not
telling the truth once again,” O’Reilly responded on Thursday.

He then dropped the “crusher” about
Sharpton, who he says has been portraying him as a “racist and a brutalizer of
the poor.”
“A few years ago, Sharpton told me that
his charity in Harlem, N.Y., was out of money and that it could not provide
Christmas presents and Christmas dinner to hundreds of poor people in Harlem,”
O’Reilly explained. “So I gave Sharpton a $25,000 donation to prove the gifts
and food.”
“I never mentioned it, because it wasn’t
necessary to mention it. But now it is. To prove exactly what kind of person
Sharpton is,” he added.

BOSTON - The Republican National Committee has approved a resolution to block two television
networks from hosting GOP presidential primary debates.
Friday's vote affirms RNC chairman Reince Priebus's (ryns PREE'-bus) threat against CNN and NBC unless the networks drop plans to air programs about possibleDemocratic presidential contender Hillary Rodham Clinton. The vote at the committee's summer meeting in Boston was unanimous.

Even before the Clinton dispute, Republican leaders
favored plans to have fewer presidential debates with more friendly moderators. They believe their 2012
presidential candidates spent too much time beating up each other in last
year's months-long primary season, which contributed to Mitt Romney's loss.
The RNC claims that a Clinton-themed documentary and a separate
miniseries -- in the works from CNN and NBC, respectively -- will put a
"thumb on the scales" in the upcoming 2016 presidential election.
The draft resolution, obtained by Fox News
in advance and later voted on by RNC officials, calls on CNN and NBC to cancel
what it describes as "political ads masked as unbiased
entertainment."
And if they don't, the resolution states,
"the Republican National Committee will neither partner with these
networks in the 2016 presidential primary debates nor sanction any primary
debates they sponsor."
As Fox News reports, "Last month, CNN Films announced it was
producing a documentary on Clinton to premiere next year, first in theaters and
then on CNN. NBC also announced a four-hour "Hillary" miniseries
starring Diane Lane, on the life of the former secretary of State and first
lady.
BEHIND
BENGHAZI: MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD AND OBAMA ADMINISTRATION
Evidence
that Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood was
directly involved in the September 11, 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S.
consulate in Benghazi, where Americans including U.S. ambassador to Libya Chris
Stevens were killed, continues to mount.
First,
on June 26, 2013, I produced and partially translated what purported to be an internal
Libyan governmental memo which
was leaked and picked up by many Arabic websites. According to this
document, the Muslim Brotherhood, including now ousted President Morsi, played
a direct role in the Benghazi consulate attack. “Based on confessions derived
from some of those arrested at the scene,” asserted the report, six people,
“all of them Egyptians” from the jihad group Ansar al-Sharia (Supporters of Islamic
Law), were arrested. During interrogations, these
Egyptian jihadi cell members:
confessed to very serious and important information
concerning the financial sources of the group and the planners of the event and
the storming and burning of the U.S. consulate in Benghazi…. And among the more
prominent figures whose names were mentioned by cell members during confessions
were: Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi; preacher Safwat Hegazi; Saudi
businessman Mansour Kadasa, owner of the satellite station, Al-Nas; Egyptian
Sheikh Muhammad Hassan; former presidential candidate,
Hazim Salih Abu Isma’il…
Four
days after this memo appeared, the military-backed June 30 Egyptian revolution
took place. Many of the Islamists in the Libyan document have either been
arrested—includingSafwat
Hegazi and Abu Isma’il—or have arrest warrants under
terrorism charges.
Walid
Shoebat followed up with some important investigative work concerning
the Libyan document, including by documenting that Western sources had finally
acknowledged that there is a group called Ansar al-Sharia operating in Egypt
with a cell in Libya, and that, with the ouster of Muhammad Morsi, it (along
with al-Qaeda) had declared jihad on Egypt’s military (not to mention regular
civilians in general, and Coptic
Christians in
particular).
The
fact is, days after the Benghazi attack back in September 2012, Muslim
Brotherhood connections appeared. A video made during the consulate
attack records
people approaching
the beleaguered U.S. compound; one of them yells to the besiegers in an
Egyptian dialect, “Don’t shoot—Dr. Morsi sent us!” apparently a reference to
the former Islamist president.
Most
recently, on July 29, 2013, Ahmed Musa, a prominent Egyptian political insider
and analyst made several assertions on Tahrir
TV that
further connected the dots. During hisprogram,
while berating U.S. ambassador Anne
Patterson for
her many pro-Brotherhood policies—policies that have earned her the hate
and contempt of millions of Egyptians—Musa insisted that he
had absolute knowledge that the murderer of Chris Stevens was Mohsin
al-‘Azzazi, whose passport was found in Brotherhood leader Khairet al-Shatter’s
home, when the latter was
arrested. According to the firm assurances of
political analyst Musa, ‘Azzazi is currently present in Raba‘a al-Adawiya,
where he, the seasoned terrorist, is preparing to do what he does best—terrorize
Egypt, just as the Brotherhood have promised, in revenge for the ousting of
Morsi.
But
why would Morsi and the Brotherhood attack the consulate in Libya in the first
place? The day before the embassy attacks, based on little known but
legitimate Arabic reports, I wrote an
article titled “Jihadis
Threaten to Burn U.S. Embassy in Cairo,” explaining how
Islamists—including al-Qaeda—were threatening to attack the U.S. embassy in
Cairo unless the notorious Blind Sheikh—an Islamist hero held in prison in the
U.S. in connection to the first World Trade
Center bombing—was
released. The date September 11 was also deliberately chosen to attack
the embassy to commemorate the “heroic” September 11, 2001 al-Qaeda strikes on
America. (Regardless, the Obama administration, followed by the so-called
mainstream media, portrayed the embassy attacks as unplanned reactions to an
offensive movie.)
The
theory is this: in order to negotiate the release of the Blind Sheikh, the
Islamists needed an important American official to barter in exchange.
And while the violence on U.S. embassiesbegan
in Egypt, it seemed logical that kidnapping an
American official from neighboring Libya would be less conspicuous than in
Egypt, where Egyptians, including Morsi, were calling for the release of the
Egyptian Blind Sheikh. Thus the U.S. consulate in Libya was
attacked, Chris Stevens kidnapped, but in the botched attempt, instead of
becoming a valuable hostage, he wound up dead.
Add
to all this the fact that, despite the very serious charges filed against
them—including inciting murder and terrorism, and grand treason—the Obama
administration, first with Anne Patterson, and now with Senators John
McCain and Lindsay Graham, keep pressuring Egypt to release
Brotherhood leaders; McCain personally even visited the civilian al-Shatter,
whose raided home revealed the passport of ‘Azzazi, whom Musa claims is the
murderer of Stevens.
Needless to say, at this point, tens of
millions of Egyptians are convinced that U.S. leadership is fully aware of the
Brotherhood’s connection to Benghazi—and hence desperately pushing for the
release of Brotherhood leadership, lest, when they are tried in Egypt’s courts,
all these scandals become common knowledge.
Meanwhile
in the United States, to a mainstream American public—conditioned as it is by a
mainstream media—all of the above is just a “conspiracy theory,” since surely
the U.S. government is transparent with the American people—except, that is, when
it’s not.

President Obama's position on domestic spying has been that it's not happening, and if it is, it's all being handled with the greatest of care. Both of those talking points died when theWashington Post released the results of a secret NSA internal audit, provided to them by the notorious Edward Snowden. It turns out there have been over 2,000 violations of protocol, privacy laws, and in at least one case, the Constitution. The NSA says not to worry, because they're harvesting so much data that 2,000 mistakes is a tiny percentage. That's... not really very comforting. Scale has always been one of the disturbing aspects of the "surveillance state" controversy. The American people generally support measures designed to fight terrorism and improve domestic security. But they don't imagine those measures will be directed at everyone, producing millions of intercepts and meta-data collections instead of targeting surveillance at thousands of suspects. To turn the NSA's defense of this audit report on its head, common sense tells us that acceptable margins of error become troubling when the size of the program increases by several orders of magnitude. Also, even the most security-conscious Americans expect strict oversight and due process, respecting both the right to privacy and the presumption of innocence. But this eyebrow-raising internal audit was kept so far under wraps that even Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, didn't know about it.
