En cambio, Washington se está desplazando la carga de malas decisiones de hoy sobre las espaldas de nuestros hijos y nietos. Estados Unidos tiene un problema de la deuda y una falta de liderazgo. Los estadounidenses merecen algo mejor. "

El descredito de los políticos se arrastra penosamente por los callejones empobrecidos del condado Miami Dade. Los envejecidos politiqueros caminan y hablan como si estuvieran drogados, repitiendo mentiras viejas y nuevas tratando de que los votantes se animen en una de las contiendas más estúpidas de la historia política de Miami. El condado esta peor que nunca en la historia y los descarados se ufana de ser quienes lo ha puesto en esta posición de “Intensive Care” Que gente más descarada y mentirosa. Yo no se que van a hacer los votantes con toda esta chatarra política inservible que un día los califique de “LAS TERMITAS DE LA DEMOCRACIA” Me quede corto, termitas es un calificativo demasiado suave. “SON UNOS VAMPIROS”
Los muy descarados se atacan unos a otros en sus propagandas, porque no tienen nada bueno que anunciar. Es como el caso de las dos mujeres que discutían y el hijo de una le dijo a su mam: MAMA DILE “PUTA” ANTES QUE TE LO DIGA.
Yo no me explico como personas que EN MI OPINION, han contribuido tanto a la destrucción moral económica y legal de este condado se atrevan a participar en un proceso electoral. Y por solo mencionar a solo algunos: Carlos Gimenez, Joe Martínez, Katherine Fernández Rondo, Pedro J García, y muchísimos otros bribones mas, están en la boleta YO VOTARE EN CONTRA DE TODOS ELLOS.
Los boleteros están en la calle descaradamente, están al acecho detrás de los votos por correo especialmente de los viejos.
Esa es la cáustica mensajes pre-grabados de teléfono entregado esta semana para alertar a los votantes de Hialeah acerca de una boletera, que había dado la vuelta a la promoción de las campañas de Miami-Dade, Carlos Giménez y el representante estatal Eddy González, R- Hialeah.
Las autoridades han acusado a Deisy Pentón de Cabrera, de 56 años, de falsificar la firma en una papeleta de voto ausente y la recolección de las boletas de los demás. Los candidatos a niegan que ella trabajaba para sus campañas. Pero es que todos son iguales son la misma PLASTA DE EXCREMENTOS DE CAMELLO.
Si esto esta ocurriendo esto en esta pequeña aldea del sur de los USA…
QUE COSA NO VA A PASAR CUADO VENGA LA BRONCA GRANDE ENTRE “el ufo DE Katanga” y su contrincante. ¿Cuantos trucos asquerosos no usaran?

A new study from the Center for Immigration Studies shows that high percentages of legal and illegal immigrants in America are drawing benefits from at least one major form of welfare.
Using U.S. Census Bureau data from 2010 and 2011, the group analyzed the more than 50 million legal and illegal immigrants and their American-born children under 18 years of age. Large numbers, the limited immigration advocacy group found, are struggling in poverty, reliant on welfare and uninsured.
The study found that in 2010, 36 percent of immigrant-headed households receive benefits from at least one welfare program, compared to just 23 percent of households headed by U.S. natives. Among households with children, immigrant welfare households outnumbered non-immigrants by a similarly wide margin: 57 percent to 40 percent.
Welfare enrollment was highest for households headed by immigrants originating in Mexico, with 57 percent participation. Guatemalan immigrants were second, with 55 percent; those from the Dominican Republic were third, with 54 percent participation.
Immigrants with the lowest rate of welfare participation came to the United States from the United Kingdom, with just 6 percent accessing one or more welfare programs, Germany at 10 percent and Canada with 13 percent, according to the report.
The authors noted that compared with households headed by U.S. natives, twice as many headed by immigrants who have lived in the United States for more than 20 years access welfare programs.
Poverty among immigrants and their children, the report added, dwarfs the rate among American natives, by a 23 percent to 13.5 percent margin.
According to the study, immigrants and their children represent one-quarter of American residents in poverty. Their children are one-third of poverty-stricken children in the U.S. overall.
Additionally, immigrants in the U.S. are more likely than native residents to be without health insurance, with 29 percent of immigrants and their children uninsured, compared to 13.8 percent of those who were born in the United States.
The Center for Immigration Studies noted that limited education levels — not a failure to work or difficulties with legal status — is responsible for most of the high immigrant poverty rate. Fully 28 percent of immigrants have not completed high school, compared to just 7 percent of natives.

Esto es lo que ha hecho Hollande el recién electo presidente de Francia (no palabras, hechos)
- Ha suprimido 100% de los coches oficiales y los ha subastado; y lo recaudado se destina al Fondo de Bienestar para ser distribuido a las regiones con el mayor número de centros urbanos con los suburbios ruinosos.

- Ha hecho enviar un documento (doce líneas) a todos los organismos estatales dependientes de la administración central en el cual les comunicaba la abolición de los "vehículos de empresa" desafiando de manera provocativa e insultando a los altos funcionarios, con frases como "si un ejecutivo que gana 650.000 euros año, no puede permitirse el lujo de comprar un buen coche con sus ingresos del trabajo, quiere decir que es demasiado ambicioso, que es estúpido, o que es deshonesto. La nación no necesita ninguna de estas tres figuras". Touchè. Fuera los Peugeot y los Citroën. 345 millones de euros salvados de inmediato, y trasladados a crear (apertura 15 de agosto 2012) 175 institutos de investigación científica avanzada de alta tecnología, asumiendo la contratación de 2560 jóvenes científicos desempleados "para aumentar la competitividad y la productividad de la nación".

- Ha abolido el concepto de paraíso fiscal (definido "socialmente inmoral") y promulgó un decreto presidencial de de urgencia estableciendo un porcentaje del 75% de aumento en la tributación para todas las familias que, netos, ganan más de 5 millones de euros al año. Con ese dinero (manteniendo así el pacto fiscal) sin que ello afecte un euro al presupuesto, ha contratado a 59,870 licenciados desempleados, de los cuales 6.900 desde el 1 de julio de 2012, y luego otros 12.500 el 1 de septiembre como profesores en la educación pública.

- Ha privado a la Iglesia de subsidios estatales por valor de 2,3 millones de euros que financiaban exclusivos colegios privados, y ha puesto en marcha (con ese dinero) un plan para la construcción de 4.500 jardines de infancia y 3.700 escuelas primarias, iniciando un plan de recuperación la inversión en la infraestructura nacional.

- Ha establecido el "bono-cultura" presidencial, un mecanismo que permite a cualquiera pagar cero impuestos si se constituye como cooperativa y abre una librería independiente contratando al menos dos licenciados desempleados de la lista de desempleados, con el fin de ahorrar dinero del gasto público y realizar una contribución mínima al empleo y al relanzamiento de nuevas posiciones sociales.

- Ha abolido todos los subsidios gubernamentales a las revistas, fundaciones y editoriales, sustituyéndolos por comités de "emprendedores estatales"" que financian acciones culturales sobre la base de la presentación de planes de negocio relacionados con estrategias de mercado avanzadas.

- Ha puesto en marcha un procedimiento muy complejo en el que ofrece a los bancos una elección (sin impuestos): Quien proporcione préstamos blandos a empresas francesas que produzcan bienes recibe beneficios fiscales, quien ofrece instrumentos financieros paga una tarifa adicional: lo tomas o lo dejas.

- Ha reducido en un 25% el sueldo de todos los funcionarios del gobierno, el 32% de todos los diputados y el 40% de todos los funcionarios estatales de alto nivel que ganan más de 800 000 € por año. Con esa cantidad (alrededor de 4 millones de euros) ha establecido un fondo que ofrece garantías de bienestar a las "madres solteras" en condiciones financieras difíciles garantizándoles un salario mensual por un período de cinco años, hasta que el niño vaya a la escuela primaria, y tres años si el niño es mayor. Todo ello sin modificar el equilibrio del presupuesto.

• Lo vaticina el prestigioso encuestador Scott Rasmussen

MIAMI 9, DE AGOSTO DE 2012, NHR.com—El encuestador y analista político Scott Rasmussen declaró en el día de ayer que si no mejora la satisfacción de los estadounidenses con su situación financiera antes de noviembre, “no hay manera que Obama sea reelecto”.
Rasmussen también advirtió que si Romney no gana la Florida no tiene “ninguna oportunidad de ganar la Casa Blanca”.
De acuerdo con el prestigioso analista y encuestador, Obama está en problemas debido a la oposición de los adultos encuestados.
Rasmussen es fundador y presidente de Rasmussen Report y cofundador de la red de deportes ESPN.
Ha sido un encuestador independiente durante más de una década, y la mayoría de las organizaciones de noticias importante siempre citan sus informes.
El miércoles, Rasmussen examinó  los resultados de su encuesta diaria sobre la campaña presidencial y mostró a Barack Obama con una ventaja sobre Mitt Romney durante dos días consecutivos, por primera vez desde junio. “Ante todo, la actualización de los números muestran hoy a ambos empatado con el 45 por ciento para Romney, y el 45 por ciento para el presidente Obama.
“Si la confianza del consumidor sube entre ahora y el día de la elección, el Presidente estará en mejor posición. Sin embargo, a partir de esta mañana, ha caído la confianza en la economía estadounidense a su nivel más bajo de este año”.
 Según Rasmussen, hace cuatro años, en el otoño del 2008, el 43 por ciento de los estadounidenses decía que sus finanzas estaban en buena forma. “Sin embargo, cayó al 35 por ciento al tomar posesión  Barack Obama, y hasta hoy se ha mantenido hasta en un 33%. Si ese número no mejora, el presidente Obama perderá su trabajo. Simplemente no hay forma de que un presidente titular pueda ser reelegido si la gente se siente un poco peor de lo que fue cuatro años antes”.

• La Asociación Benevolente de la Policía pone en duda las mejoras que se atribuye el alcalde Carlos Giménez

MIAMI 7 DE JULIO DE 2012, NHR.com—A medida que se acercan las elecciones del 14 de agosto, aumenta el calor entre las campañas del condado Miami-Dade.
Una de las campañas que hasta ahora estaba llevándose con mucha calma pero ya se está acalorando es la de la alcaldía, donde el presidente de la comisión condal Joe Martínez reta al alcalde Carlos Giménez.
Aunque Joe Martínez se ha manifestado a favor de llevar a cabo una campaña decente y tranquila, dedicada a hablar de los temas solamente, la Asociación Benevolente de la Policía (PBA) ha dado la talla colocando un comercial en la televisión local expresando su desacuerdo con el alcalde Giménez.
Con este anuncio pagado por un comité político registrado por el presidente de la PBA, John Rivera, el sindicato de la policía, que es el gremio más poderoso del condado, está pasando la cuenta por el pago y recortes de beneficios que les hizo sufrir Giménez durante el año que ha estado en la alcaldía.


TOMADO DEL BLOG “NELSON HORTA REPORTA” Se asegura que en el escándalo de las boletas están implicados funcionarios electos de Miami-Dade y Hialeah
MIAMI, 9 DE AGOSTO DE 2012, NHR.com—Investigadores de la unidad anti-corrupción de la policía de Miami-Dade continúan indagando sobre el fraude de boletas ausentes descubierto por el detective privado Joe Carrillo hace dos semanas y que llevó al arresto de Deisy Cabrera, esperándose que varios otros arrestos se lleven a cabo en los próximos días,
De acuerdo a una fuente contactada por NHR.com, la investigación está generando nuevas pistas que podrían conducir hasta las mismas puertas de algunos comisionados de Miami-Dade y Hialeah. “Son varias personas que están hablando”, le dijo la fuente a NHR.com.
Sobre las alegaciones de que algún comisionado de Miami-Dade podría estar involucrado, la fuente nos dijo que “esto es demasiado grande, mientras más personas interrogamos más información encontramos”. La fuente no quiso dar a conocer “por ahora” el nombre del comisionado, pero nos dijo que la verdad aparecerá pronto.
Mientras tanto, un concejal de Hialeah le dijo a NHR.com que varios de sus colegas están asustados  y que personas que regularmente asistían al ayuntamiento de esa ciudad y que se los encontraba en el local de campaña de Carlos Gimenez, han desaparecido. “Todos tienen miedo”, manifesto el concejal.
El concejal contactado por NHR.com también señaló que varios agentes de la policía y del FBI se encuentran visitando a los que de una forma u otra aparecen involucrados en el asunto de las boletas ausentes.
De acuerdo a otras fuentes contactadas, a Deisy Cabrera y Matilde Martínez, las boleteras captadas por el detective Carrillo, no se les ve por ninguna parte. “Les he tocado en la puerta de sus  apartamentos y no abren la puerta”, nos indicó un reportero amigo que nos contactó para intercambiar información.
Por otra parte según hemos conocido en NHR.com,  las autoridades de Miami-Dade están siguiendo la pista de otros boleteros que trabajaban junto a Cabrera y Al Lorenzo. Estos nuevos detalles salen a la luz ahora, después que se conoció de un paquete de 160 boletas que fueron confiscadas por las autoridades tras haber recibido la llamada de empleados del correo principal de Miami-Dade, ubicado en Milan DairyRoad y la Celle 23 del Noroeste.
Los empleados de correo se quedaron sorprendidos ante tan alto volumen de boletas y decidieron notificarlo a la policía.
De acuerdo a fuentes policíacas, las boletas confiscadas son en su totalidad de residentes de Hialeah. Se presume que sean procedentes del grupo de Deisy Cabrera, que ha sido ligada a la campaña del alcalde Carlos Giménez.

Feigning indignity, outrage, and remorse, the Obama Administration quietly watched from the sidelines as a Hezbollah commander, guilty of planning the murder of five U.S. Marines, was set free on July 30^th by the Iraqi central criminal court.

In January of 2007, a dozen or more terrorists dressed in U.S. uniforms opened fire on a military camp in Karbala, just south of Baghdad. One soldier died at the scene; and four others were kidnapped, tortured, and murdered by the terrorists. The mastermind of this complex and well-planned attack was Ali Mussa Daqduq, a Lebanese national taken by U.S. forces in Basra just 2 months after the operation.

For 5 years, Daqduq was held at Camp Cropper, a US military detention facility in Baghdad. Yet neither George Bush nor Barack Obama saw fit to try the terrorist killer for his crimes.

For the criminal prosecution of Daqduq, whether in a civil or military proceeding, was not permitted under the terms of the Authorization for the Use of Military Force, a resolution passed by Congress and signed by the president on Sept 14, 2001. According to that resolution, in order to be legally prosecuted, an accused terrorist must be a member of either al Qaeda or the Taliban, one of the groups known to have attacked the US on 9/11. And Daqduq apparently belonged to neither.

WASHINGTON -- The push to raise unlimited contributions by a super PAC backing President Barack Obama's reelection has run into a number of hurdles since Priorities USA Action was set up by former White House aide Bill Burton in 2011. Major Democratic donors have shunned the group, denying it funds to compete equally with the big Republican super PACs and social welfare nonprofits.

The most common complaint from Obama backers who won't give to the super PAC is one that the president previously voiced: Unlimited money is bad for democracy.

"If we're going to be the party of the people, where do we draw that line?" asked Don Peebles, a real estate developer worth upwards of $350 million and a bundler for the Obama campaign. "At the end of the day, Grant [and] Hamilton don't vote."

Of those who flood super PACs with big donations, Peebles noted, "People aren't just giving this money because they care. They're giving money to influence the government."

Warren Buffett, the third-richest man on Earth, criticized super PACs at a May shareholders meeting: "I don't want to see democracy go in that direction. ... You have to take a stand someplace."

In February, as it became clear that Republican super PACs and other groups would be able to raise and spend well over $100 million in the 2012 election, the president embraced Priorities USA Action, albeit still with reservation, and had his campaign state that he supported its efforts.

Fundraising for the group had been moribund before that. In January it didn't even crack $100,000 in contributions. Since then, donations have ticked up, but not to the levels seen by the Republican groups.

Priorities USA Action has raised $8.9 million through the end of March, making it the fourth best-financed super PAC. That's a fraction of what the big Republican guns -- the pro-Mitt Romney Restore Our Future ($51.9 million) and the Karl Rove-linked American Crossroads ($28 million) -- have pulled in. Social welfare nonprofits, which can raise and spend unlimited amounts without disclosing their donors, are likely to raise tens of millions for Republicans as well.

Well-known Democratic donors have shied away from Priorities USA Action for reasons that go beyond a distaste for dollar-driven democracy.

Billionaires George Soros and Peter Lewis have both avoided giving money to groups that focus on television advertising. Before this campaign, the two men were the only donors to have given in excess of $20 million to political committees in one election cycle, when they funded efforts to defeat President George W. Bush in 2004.

Lewis' spokeswoman, Jennifer Frutchy, told Reuters in April, "The super PACs are nearly all about advertising, and he is loath to contribute toward that."

Soros recently announced that he would begin putting money into super PACs, but only those working to organize on the grassroots level and not focused on ads. "Culturally, the left doesn't do Swift Boat," Soros adviser Michael Vachon told HuffPost's Sam Stein, referring to the ad campaign run by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth to smear the 2004 Democratic presidential candidate, Sen. John Kerry.

Other Democratic donors have made policy an issue in their giving.

The billionaire Hollywood producer who brought us the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, Haim Saban, has criticized the president's policy toward Israel and has yet to give to any super PAC, despite stating that he is thinking about it in early February. Saban was the biggest donor to the Democratic Party during the soft-money era, when the party committees, much like super PACs, could accept unlimited contributions.

Wall Street donors have largely turned their backs on the president's reelection campaign. Many are sore about the Dodd-Frank financial reform push and feel that they, and the wealthy in general, have been unfairly demonized by Obama and the Democrats. Moreover, the onetime chief Wall Street fundraiser for Team Obama, former New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine, is now under investigation for losing $4 billion of customer money when his fund, MF Global, went belly up. 

And then there are those big-money givers who backed Hillary Clinton in the 2008 Democratic primary. A Bloomberg report from April found they were waiting for major Obama backers like Penny Pritzker, national finance chair of the president's 2008 campaign, and others to give to Priorities USA Action first. 

The super PAC has raised some money from historically big Democratic donors, including media mogul Fred Eychaner ($500,000), investor Bernard Schwartz ($100,000) and the Service Employees International Union ($1.5 million).  

So far, Hollywood has been the biggest source of funds for the group, including donations from DreamWorks executive Jeffrey Katzenberg ($2 million), HBO talk show host Bill Maher ($1 million), comedian Chelsea Handler ($150,000), director Steven Spielberg ($100,000) and creator-director J.J. Abrams ($50,000). 

According to the super PAC's latest reports, only eight of Obama's 532 bundlers, individuals who raise large sums for the campaign, have given to Priorities USA Action. These include Katzenberg, Eychaner, Wayne Jordan, Robert Roche, Sandra Thompson, Lawrence Fish, Joseph Falk and Orrin Kramer.

Priorities USA Action is also lagging in pulling the biggest donors. Restore Our Future has received contributions of at least $1 million from at least 17 donors, and American Crossroads has received $1 million-plus contributions from eight donors. Priorities has received those huge sums from only four donors.

The super PAC will report its next batch of donors on May 20.

Los católicos de Estados Unidos se han declarado en pie de guerra contra la administración Obama. Los choques con el Gobierno demócrata han sido constantes durante la legislatura aunque la Ley de Protección del Paciente y Cuidados de Salud Asequibles del Departamento de Salud del Ejecutivo de Estados Unidos ha sido la gota que ha colmado el vaso.

Obama ha preparado una normativa que forzará a los seguros privados católicos a que ofrezcan anticonceptivos y productos abortivos. Además, agregó que no se ampliará la exención para los grupos religiosos que se oponen al pago de planes de seguro médico para sus empleados y que, a partir de ahora, deberán incluir la esterilización y anticonceptivos. Por ello, la secretaria del Departamento de Salud, Kathleen Sebelius, ha afirmado en un comunicado que los empresarios religiosos que se oponen a proporcionar esta cobertura deberán cumplir la ley desde el 1 de agosto de 2013. Esto afectará a instituciones católicas como hospitales y otras entidades benéficas.

Esta política del Gobierno de Obama también ha encontrado la oposición de grupos evangélicos y judíos. Sin embargo, los obispos de Estados Unidos se han mostrado muy beligerantes con esta iniciativa y han pedido a los fieles una respuesta firme.

De hecho, el mismo Obama telefoneó al arzobispo de Nueva York, Timothy Dolan, para intentar explicarle esta iniciativa. Aunque el prelado neoyorquino encabeza unas protestas que han llegado a Roma. El mismo Papa ha hecho un duro alegato contra la política llevada a cabo por el actual presidente de Estados Unidos.

Ejemplo de esta fuerte movilización es la carta a sus fieles que ha dirigido el obispo de Pittsburg, David Zubik que se titula: "a la mierda con vosotros". "Es realmente difícil creer que haya sucedido. Ha sido como una bofetada. El gobierno del Presidente Obama acaba de decir a los católicos de los Estados Unidos, "¡A la mierda con vosotros!" No hay otra manera de explicarlo", así de contundente inicia su carta para explicar el trato que ha dado Barack Obama a los católicos con una ley que vulnera la conciencia y la libertad religiosa de los ciudadanos de Estados Unidos.

Asegura que en la normativa se incluyó una supuesta "exención por motivos religiosos" pero "se formuló de manera tan restrictiva que, como señalaban sus detractores, ni siquiera Jesucristo y sus Apóstoles podrían beneficiarse de la exención".

Y es que la exención sólo podría producirse si las instituciones católicas cumplen estas tres condiciones:

• Tener únicamente a católicos como empleados.
• Que el propósito principal de la institución o el servicio prestado sea la instrucción directa en la fe católica.
• Que las únicas personas atendidas por la institución sean aquellas que comparten los principios religiosos católicos. Sin embargo, el obispo ve imposible esto puesto que las instituciones benéficas de la Iglesia no hacen discriminación según la Fe de cada persona.

En este sentido, el obispo ya pidió a sus fieles que presionasen a las autoridades para revocar esta ley. "El 20 de enero de 2012, el gobierno del presidente Obama nos respondió a vosotros y a mí. La respuesta fue muy simple: ‘A la mierda con vosotros’", asegura monseñor Zubik.

En su carta prosigue asegurando que "los católicos han construido centros de salud que son reconocidos en todo el mundo por su cuidado compasivo para todos, independientemente de su credo, sus circunstancias económicas y, sin duda, su género".

Pero la respuesta de la Administración Obama ante esta actividad benéfica ha sido, a su juicio, ésta: "a la mierda con vosotros, fieles católicos de los Estados Unidos". Y sigue añadiendo que "a la mierda con vuestras creencias religiosas, a la mierda con vuestra libertad religiosa, a la mierda con vuestra libertad de conciencia".

De este modo, el obispo de Pittsburgh añade que Obama quiere que "subvencionemos la imposición de una cultura de anticonceptivos y de aborto en todas las personas de Estados Unidos". "¡No podemos hacerlo! ¡Simplemente no podemos!", sentencia monseñor Zubik.

Sin embargo, no ha tardado en movilizarse y ha pedido a los católicos de su Diócesis que se movilicen, que escriban a Obama, a la secretaria del Departamento de Salud, a sus senadores y a sus congresistas.

"If [then-Obama communications director] Robert Gibbs started running a [independent political expenditure group] and I called Robert Gibbs and said, 'Stop running ads on my behalf,' are you suggesting I would have no influence over Robert Gibbs?"

-- Then Sen. Barack Obama, as quoted by Politico, in West Des Moines, Iowa in December of 2007 attacking opponent John Edwards for negative ads being run by an outside group run by a former Edwards aide.

President Obama is now starting to pay the price for his intensely negative, very personal campaign against soon-to-be Republican nominee Mitt Romney.

On Monday, Power Play predicted that the intense personal animus that Obama had for Romney as described in a forthcoming Politico book could cause serious trouble for Obama's campaign. The danger when the man or woman at the top really despises his opponent is that underlings will go too far in their attacks.

On Tuesday, the Obama-backed political action committee unleashed the nastiest ad of the presidential contest so far. The group, Priorities USA, is led by a former top Obama aide, has the president's blessing and has received fundraising help from top Obama deputies, including his campaign manager.

The new ad stars a steelworker from Obama's first attack ad of the general election, which accused Romney of being a "vampire" because of the shuttering of a steel mill in Kansas City. The PAC ad picks up the story of the steelworker after the closure and lays the blame at Romney's feet for his wife's death from cancer five years later because their health insurance had been disrupted.

The Obama-backed group can't coordinate with the campaign, but it can use the campaign's work. In this case, the campaign had already known about the cancer story since the steelworker, Joe Soptic, had already told the tale on a conference call with reporters when the Obama ad first ran back in May.

Obama's campaign knew that its opening attack on Romney would be heavily scrutinized. The highly negative and personal nature of Obama's campaign has raised eyebrows even among the most docile members of the media. The campaign also knew that the ad tugged at the truth a bit. Romney had left the firm when the plant closed, the intervention had preserved many jobs for several years, etc.

But they could walk that line and survive, given the low standards for veracity in campaign ads. Accusing Romney, with several more leaps in logic, of killing a man's wife, though, was too much for the campaign of a sitting president, even one that has decided to be nasty.

But for what is now called a "super PAC," groups that Obama once called "shadowy" but subsequently embraced in his bid to win a second term, perhaps the consequences would not be so bad.

The Obama-backed Obama backers at Priorities USA thought they were doing a favor for the president: going where he couldn't go. And given what Obama has said about Romney and the months of character attacks on the Republican, they certainly had every reason to think that the president would be pleased that they had found an even uglier way to go after Romney.

Henry II asked, "Will no one rid me of the pestilent priest?" and some enterprising knights offed Thomas Becket. Obama's campaign called Romney a possible felon and a vampire, and his former aides decided to go all the way and call him a murderer.

The Obama-backed group picked up the cancer story and ran with it. Using the campaign's legwork, Priorities USA put together an ad so nasty and so tendentious that even Democrats feel obliged to disown it.

The standard defense in politics when someone does something bad on your behalf is to, at least at first, deny knowledge or involvement and then throw your hands up at the way the political system works.

Obama surrogates tried that on Wednesday, saying they had no knowledge of the story and washed their hands of the ad. And in true political PR fashion, made the pivot to say that while they didn't know anything about the ad, it was true that Romney didn't care about workers having health insurance.

But the campaign did know the story, because they had told it first, just not through a television bullhorn.

The Pontius Pilate defense did not work because Priorities USA had so carefully hewed to the original Obama attack -- the same steelworker, the same story -- that there was no plausible deniability.

Now, Obama finds himself with his campaign having been caught feigning ignorance about an unsavory ad produced by an organization he supports. For a sitting president whose pitch is so tied to reforming politics that he forgot to take a lamentation of "super PACs" out of his stump speech amid the controversy on Wednesday, this is not a good situation.

Back when he was an underdog, Obama would have seized on such a blunder by an opponent's organization, and he did. Obama scoffed at notions of invisible walls between campaigns and outside groups and demanded that his opponents denounce the nasty tactics of their former aides.

Romney's campaign didn't pounce as quickly as Obama would have in 2008, first adopting a defensive crouch and insisting that had the woman lived in Massachusetts she would have been covered under Romney's 2007 health law.

But other Republicans got their indignation engines fired up and are prodding the political press to look at the chasm between what Obama has said about these kinds of attacks and what he is doing now. And Team Romney now seems to be moving from defense to offense on the subject.

Obama may yet be forced to denounce the ad. And if he does, he will have himself to blame because it was he who fostered the toxic attitudes toward his opponent inside Obamaland.

This quiet push would make citizens in dozens of states irrelevant

Progressive organizations are quietly pushing a “popular vote” that could see only 14 states – those with the largest populations – decide the presidency for voters in all 50 states, according to a book released this week that’s now skyrocketing up bestseller charts.

The book contains a bonus chapter on the subject and documents concerns over voter fraud in the upcoming presidential electio

It also presents new information about a foreign-based company – Scytl – running hundreds of online U.S. voting systems.

“Fool Me Twice: Obama’s Shocking Plans for the Next Four Years Exposed” uncovers the template for Obama’s next four years – the actual, extensive plans created by Obama’s own top advisers and progressive strategists.

The book is written by New York Times bestselling authors Aaron Klein and Brenda J. Elliott.

“Fool Me Twice” unveils all the main areas of Obama’s second-term domestic policy onslaught – jobs, wages, health care, immigration “overhaul,” electoral “reform,” national energy policy, Pentagon plans and more.

National Popular Vote

The vote for president is the only one in which all Americans vote for a national leader. In framing the U.S. Constitution, Klein and Elliott write, the Founding Fathers displayed their characteristic wisdom and subtlety in firmly rejecting a purely popular vote to elect the president, in order to balance the power of the larger states against the smaller.

The Electoral College was fashioned as a compromise between an election of the president by direct popular vote and election by Congress.

However, “Fool Me Twice” documents how a group backed by a who’s who of the progressive left, calling itself the National Popular Vote, or NPV, has already been successful in quietly pushing for abolishing the Electoral College in favor of a “popular vote.”

“Under the rubric of a ‘National Popular Vote,’ this plan would allow the 14 most populous American states, mostly majority-Democrat, to determine the outcome of future presidential elections. The voters of the 36 less populous states would then effectively be disenfranchised,” warn Klein and Elliott.

The plan is already gaining traction.

In 2007, Maryland became the first state to approve a “national popular vote” compact. As a result, in a theoretical winner-take-all contest, Maryland would allocate all of its 10 electoral votes to the candidate who won the most votes nationally – even if the same candidate did not win the most votes in Maryland.

By March 2012, eight states – California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington, plus the District of Columbia – had enacted the “national popular vote” into law.

Two other states, Colorado and Rhode Island, had passed it in both houses, but it had not been enacted. Ten more states had passed it in one house, and 10 others had passed it in a committee. Eleven states had held hearings on it, and nine more states had introduced bills.

While organizational support comes almost exclusively from left-leaning groups such as the American Civil Liberties Union, the League of Women Voters, the Soros-funded Common Cause and the Demos group, NPV’s army of lobbyists has also been pushing its plan to the Republican National Committee, the American Legislative Exchange Council and conservative think tanks such as the Heartland Institute and the Heritage Foundation.

There is, however, one hitch in the NPV plan: For a “national popular vote” to predominate, the full 270 electoral votes must be based on identical legislation (the “interstate compact”) passed by each state.

“Fool Me Twice” also presents new information about SCYTL, an international company that recently purchased the leading U.S. electronic voting firm, SOE Software, including a future plan that allows ballots to be cast using Google and Apple smartphones and tablet computers.

The company previously has faced questions about the security of its electronic voting technologies, which are now set to be deployed in 900 U.S. jurisdictions via its U.S. subsidiary.

• The vastly reduced resources of the U.S. armed forces will be spread even thinner by using them to combat “global warming,” fight global poverty, remedy “injustice,” bolster the United Nations and step up use of “peacekeeping” deployments.
• A new “green” stimulus program and the founding of a federal “green” bank or “Energy Independence Trust,” which would borrow from the federal treasury to provide low-cost financing to private-sector investments in “clean energy.”
• Detailed plans to enact single-payer health care legislation controlled by the federal government.
