Amenper: Historia de dos Limones
Hay un escrito de David Catron en el American Spectator que compara al Obamacare con el carro Edsel de la Ford, el limón más grande que ha tenido la industria automovilística, y me trajo el recuerdo de aquellos tiempos en los últimos años de los 50s.
Los chistes y el ridículo de la Ford que había lanzado el carro con una propaganda y unas expectaciones igual que el Obamacare.
Catron ha hecho una comparación válida que nos recuerda lo que fue el Edsel, la diferencia es que el Edsel no estaba jugando con la salud pública como el Obamacare.
Pero sin lugar a dudas hay una similitud. Ese vehículo espurio, cuyo nombre tonto desde hace mucho tiempo se ha convertido en sinónimo de "fracaso espectacular", tenía mucho en común con Obamacare. Ambos se basaron en malas ideas, llenos de características defectuosas después de haber sido cacareado por mucho tiempo como que iba a ser un concepto revolucionario y que en la práctica no funcionaron y fueron despreciadas por el público.
Las malas ideas en ambos, con un enorme despilfarro fueron nacidas como estratagemas de marketing no se ocuparon de la efectividad de su diseño y producción.
"La idea para el Edsel," como el Washington Post posteriormente informó, "vino de los ejecutivos de Ford que estaban pensando en nichos de mercado cuando debería haber estado pensando en coches". En el caso de Obamacare, la idea vino de ayudantes de campaña buscando una mordida que sonara bien a los electores que pudiera ser utilizada por un oscuro senador de Illinois impulsado como candidato a la Presidencia.
Tenía que decir algo sobre un tema en que él no había pensado mucho. Así, sin ninguna discusión política seria, sugirieron que era algo bueno para la campaña anunciando su intención de pasar la atención sanitaria universal al final de su primer mandato: "Así nació Obamacare".
Y como en el caso del Edsel, muchos estaban a la expectativa de la salida del limón endulzado.
En ambos casos, el bombo continuaba sonando recibiendo mucha más atención que el desarrollo del producto.
Edsel ya era famoso antes de que saliera. creando un misterio místico como parte de su publicidad.
Apenas tres meses antes de la su debut, la escasez de fotos que muestran que durante toda la propaganda de la Edsel estaban vendiendo un nombre no un coche. Newsweek a publicó una historia con una cubierta que mostró sólo una rueda y parte de su guardafangos delantero, no el coche completo para mantener el misterio. Como el Edsel, los elementos básicos del Obamacare seguían siendo un misterio, mientras fue discutida por los congresistas y senadores que obviamente no habían leído el proyecto de ley. Esta horrible realidad fue inmortalizada por Nancy Pelosi cuando ella aconsejó a los estadounidenses, "Tenemos que aprobar el proyecto de ley para que usted puede encontrar lo que está en él". Tal parece que los que nos vendieron el Obamacare es la misma agencia de publicidad que nos hizo la campaña del Edsel.
Todo esto se podría haber perdonado si cualquiera de estos productos hubiera cumplido con las expectativas básicas. Lamentablemente, ninguno se acercó a propaganda.
El consumidor estadounidense sabe lo que es un limón cuando lo ve.
Y, a pesar de la fanfarria con la que ambos fueron introducidos, el Edsel y Obamacare claramente habían sido producidos en plantaciones de cítricos. Dos tremendos limones.
El Edsel, cuando fue finalmente revelado, resultó ser un automóvil profundamente desagradable. Su atributo físico más notable fue una parrilla con un agujero con una inconfundible semejanza a un inodoro. La parrilla era como un adelanto a lo que era el motor, que era el contenido del inodoro.
Obamacare, por su parte, llegó con el mandato individual, y un panel consultivo de pago independiente al estilo soviético con autoridad por arriba de la opinión del doctor, y una lista de nuevos impuestos que superó los peores temores de sus más acérrimos opositores.
Peor aún, el Obamacare ni Edsel funcionaron correctamente. El primero, como el Post dijo en un escrito, tuvo problemas mecánicos que trascendieron más allá de sus defectos estéticos: "la bandejas de aceite se cayó, tubos atascados, pintura pelada, error al cerrar las puertas y la tan promocionada 'Teletouch' pulsador de la transmisión tenía una tendencia preocupante a trabarse en los momentos menos esperados.
Asimismo, las ruedas se le cayeron al Obamacare tan pronto como empezó a rodar.
El fracaso más visible del “roll out” ha sido claramente el, HealthCare.gov. Un programa de software que soporta Obamacare.
Catron lo describe de esta manera "Lamentablemente, lo que debería ser un proceso simple es un desastre completo de la tecnología de software... Al parecer la gente que construyó el sitio no sabían lo que estaban haciendo."
Obviamente, la Ford Motor Co. y la administración Obama demostraron excepcionalmente un pobre juicio en el lanzamiento de sus respectivos limones sin la capacidad o el cuidado de detectar tales fallos visibles.
Pero, increíblemente, cometieron todos esos errores, y todavía otro que fue posiblemente una peor metedura de pata.
Ambos intentaron imponer sus despilfarros en el público pública durante tiempos económicos muy lentos. Cuando se puso el caro Edsel, en el mercado, el país estaba entrando en la recesión de 1957, que previsiblemente había disminuido el apetito consumidor para todos los artículos caros como el Edsel.
Y, cuando el Presidente y el Congreso y el senado demócrata controlado propusieron gastar $1 trillón en Obamacare, estábamos en las profundidades de la peor recesión económica desde la gran depresión.

The health-care law's 'risk corridors' could result in a huge taxpayer burden.
With every passing day, ObamaCare's flaws are being exposed in painful ways for the American people. What started as a broken website—and nonexistent Spanish one—is now snowballing into a full-scale disaster that makes it increasingly clear this law can't be fixed.
Under ObamaCare, people are being recklessly exposed to identity theft and fraud through the dysfunctional website and navigator network.
Under ObamaCare, President Obama's broken promise—that people could keep the health plans and doctors they were happy with—has made casualties of those plans and providers. Now people have to scramble to find new plans and doctors that often cost more than before. If they don't find them, a tax fine enforced by the Internal Revenue Service will ensue.
Under ObamaCare, abysmal enrollment numbers so far are a warning sign that this law will cost the American people more—and in more ways—than they ever imagined.
One of these ways was exposed last week after President Obama announced his unilateral action to "fix" his broken promise that Americans could keep their existing plans: a bailout of health-insurance companies.
Buried deep in the Department of Health and Human Services' press release that accompanied the president's Nov. 14 speech was this sentence: "Though this transitional policy was not anticipated by health insurance issuers when setting rates for 2014, the risk corridor program should help ameliorate unanticipated changes in premium revenue. We intend to explore ways to modify the risk corridor program final rules to provide additional assistance."
Risk corridors are generally used to mitigate an insurer's pricing risk. Under ObamaCare, risk corridors were established for the law's first three years as a safety-net for insurers who experience financial losses. While risk corridors can protect taxpayers when they are budget-neutral, ObamaCare's risk corridors are designed in such an open-ended manner that the president's action now exposes taxpayers to a bailout of the health-insurance industry if and when the law fails.
Subsequent regulatory rulings have made clear that the administration views this risk-corridor authority as a blank check, requiring no further consultation or approval by Congress. A final rule handed down in March by HHS and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services states: "Regardless of the balance of payments and receipts, HHS will remit payments as required under section 1342 of the Affordable Care Act."
On Nov. 14, the American Academy of Actuaries issued a press release saying that President Obama's plan to reverse health-insurance cancellations "could lead to negative consequences for consumers, health insurers, and the federal government." More specifically, the academy said, "Costs to the federal government could increase as higher-than-expected average medical claims are more likely to trigger risk corridor payments."
It is a damning indictment of ObamaCare's viability when the president's only response to people losing their health insurance plans entails putting them on the hook for bailing out insurance companies. The American people are already being directly hurt by ObamaCare's early failures, and it is unconscionable that they be expected to bail out companies when more failures emerge.
As the people's representatives, the U.S. Congress should completely eliminate the possibility of a bailout of insurance companies. On Tuesday I am introducing legislation that would eliminate the risk corridor provision, ensuring that no taxpayer-funded bailout of the health insurance industry will ever occur under ObamaCare. If this disaster of a law cannot survive without a bailout rescue valve, it is yet another reason why it should be repealed.
When ObamaCare was debated and passed in 2009 and 2010, none of its proponents, including the president, told the American people that the law granted the federal government the authority to bail out insurance companies at the expense of taxpayers. But now their dirty little secret is out, and it should be wiped out from the law.
Americans are sick and tired of Washington politicians picking winners and losers—and nowhere is this practice more grotesquely evident than taxpayer-funded bailouts, which assault the economic values of our free enterprise system in favor of those who are politically connected and whose lobbyists know the right people to call and levers to pull. ObamaCare is a living monument to this culture, and no one loses more than the average American.
My Republican colleagues and I have endeavored to find ways to protect Americans from ObamaCare—as patients, taxpayers, consumers and workers. But it is becoming increasingly clear that these efforts can only mitigate some of ObamaCare's damage, not avoid it entirely.
As policy makers, we must focus on making health care more affordable and accessible for all Americans. Repealing ObamaCare will be a necessary step if we are to replace it with reforms that will actually accomplish these goals. Meanwhile, we owe it to the American people to protect them from another taxpayer-funded bailout.

As more bad poll numbers continue to pour in for President Barack Obama, a new survey finds that if the 2012 election matchup were held this month, Mitt Romney would hold the edge with the voters.
Romney topped Obama 49 percent to 45 percent among registered voters in the Washington Post-ABC News poll released Tuesday. Among all Americans, the 2012 rivals would be tied, at 47 percent.
The poll also found more bad news for Obama: His approval was down to 42 percent, a fall of 6 points from a month ago. Fifty-five percent disapproved of the job he is doing as president.
Support for the president’s signature health care law was also down 6 points since late October, standing at 40 percent. Fifty-seven percent said they oppose the law. Similarly, approval of Obama’s handling of Obamacare was also underwater, with 33 percent approving to 67 percent disapproving.
The Post surveyed 1,006 adults from Nov. 14 to 17 for the poll, which has an error margin of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points

Republican House Leaders To Look Into Report On Faked Jobs Data. Reuters |

WASHINGTON, Nov 19 (Reuters) - The Republican leader of a U.S. House of Representatives investigative committee asked the Census Bureau on Tuesday for more information related to a media report that the monthly unemployment rate was manipulated ahead of the 2012 presidential election.
The New York Post reported that data used in the closely watched survey was faked in the final stretch of President Barack Obama's re-election campaign, when the monthly unemployment rate fell by 0.3 percentage points to 7.8 percent from 8.1 percent.
The Census Bureau rejected the allegations and said it had reported the claims to the Office of the Inspector General as soon as it learned of them.
"These allegations are shocking," Republican Representative Darrell Issa of California, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said in a letter to Census Bureau Director John Thompson.
The letter was also signed by Representatives Blake Farenthold, chairman of an Oversight subcommittee, and Kevin Brady, chairman of the Joint Economic Committee.
The Republicans sought a broad range of documents and communication related to the collection of data for the Current Population Survey, which is used by the Bureau of Labor Statistics to calculate the unemployment rate.
"We need to better understand whether the Current Population Survey and other important Census Bureau data are reliable, and if not, whether Census Bureau officials knowingly and intentionally fabricated the data on which they are based," the letter said.
Farenthold said in a statement that "we intend to thoroughly investigate these disturbing allegations."
Stacy Gimbel Vidal, a spokeswoman for the Census Bureau, said: "We have no reason to believe that there was a systematic manipulation of the data described in media reports."
"As a statistical agency, the Census Bureau is very conscientious about our responsibility to produce accurate Current Population Survey data for the Bureau of Labor Statistics and all other surveys we conduct," she said.
The Post story, citing anonymous sources, said the Census Bureau had caught an employee faking data for the survey in 2010, and the practice went beyond one employee and had continued.
It said the employees had faked interviews to meet monthly quotas for the survey.
Vidal said the bureau always cross-checked and verified data collected by employees to ensure its validity.
"That monitoring process includes re-interviewing respondents, and rechecking the data an employee has submitted, looking for red flags that indicate possible fabrication," Vidal said.
The monthly employment report was watched closely in the months ahead of the election, as Obama worked to prove his leadership was turning around the economy

El resultado pudiera ser que el país tendrá cada vez más una juventud que es ajena a las tradiciones socio-económicas que han hecho grande a esta nación.
Lo curioso que ellos en sus suntuosas casas y en su posición privilegiada en las universidades, ven como inferiores no sólo a los empresarios, pero a la clase trabajadora.
Son la “nueva clase” del pre-socialismo.
Es una cuestión de supervivencia el poner un límite a este desbordamiento del socialismo en nuestros centros docentes superiores.
La atención personal a nuestros hijos y nietos, contrarrestando las doctrinas socialistas, es importante, pero es hora de ir directamente a la raíz del problema.
Si ellos son capaces de controlar las enseñanzas anti-mercado, es lo indicado en una democracia que se asegure que la enseñanza pro-mercado tenga igual oportunidad. Eso es la democracia.

2 - Quiero que el suelo sea cubierto por mis tesoros para que todos puedan ver que los bienes materiales aquí conquistados, aquí permanecen.
3 - Quiero que mis manos se balanceen al viento, para que las personas puedan ver que vinimos con las manos vacías, y con las manos vacías partimos.

On June 1, 1865, Senator Charles Sumner referred to the most famous speech ever given by President Abraham Lincoln. In his eulogy on the slain president, he called the Gettysburg Address a "monumental act." He said Lincoln was mistaken that "the world will little note, nor long remember what we say here." Rather, the Bostonian remarked, "The world noted at once what he said, and will never cease to remember it. The battle itself was less important than the speech."
There are five known copies of the speech in Lincoln's handwriting, each with a slightly different text, and named for the people who first received them: Nicolay, Hay, Everett, Bancroft and Bliss. Two copies apparently were written before delivering the speech; the remaining ones were produced months later for soldier benefit events. Despite widely-circulated stories to the contrary, the president did not dash off a copy aboard a train to Gettysburg. Lincoln carefully prepared his major speeches in advance; his steady, even script in every manuscript is consistent with a firm writing surface, not the notoriously bumpy Civil War-era trains. Additional versions of the speech appeared in newspapers of the era, feeding modern-day confusion about the authoritative text.
Bliss Copy
Ever since Lincoln wrote it in 1864, this version has been the most often reproduced, notably on the walls of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington. It is named after Colonel Alexander Bliss, stepson of historian George Bancroft. Bancroft asked President Lincoln for a copy to use as a fundraiser for soldiers (see "Bancroft Copy" below). However, because Lincoln wrote on both sides of the paper, the speech could not be reprinted, so Lincoln made another copy at Bliss's request. It is the last known copy written by Lincoln and the only one signed and dated by him. Today it is on display at the Lincoln Room of the White House.

Nicolay Copy
Named for John G. Nicolay, President Lincoln's personal secretary, this is considered the "first draft" of the speech, begun in Washington on White house stationery. The second page is writen on different paper stock, indicating it was finished in Gettysburg before the cemetery dedication began. Lincoln gave this draft to Nicolay, who went to Gettysburg with Lincoln and witnessed the speech. The Library of Congress owns this manuscript.

Believed to be the second draft of the speech, President Lincoln gave this copy to John Hay, a White House assistant. Hay accompanied Lincoln to Gettysburg and briefly referred to the speech in his diary: "the President, in a fine, free way, with more grace than is his wont, said his half dozen words of consecration." The Hay copy, which includes Lincoln's handwritten changes, also is owned by the Library of Congress.

Edward Everett, the chief speaker at the Gettysburg cemetery dedication, clearly was impressed by Lincoln's remarks and wrote to him the next day saying, "I should be glad, if I could flatter myself that I came as near to the central idea of the occasion, in two hours, as you did in two minutes." In 1864 Everett asked Lincoln for a copy of the speech to benefit Union soldiers, making it the third manuscript copy. Eventually the state of Illinois acquired it, where it's preserved at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.

Bancroft Copy
As noted above, historian George Bancroft asked President Lincoln for a copy to use as a fundraiser for soldiers. When Lincoln sent his copy on February 29, 1864, he used both sides of the paper, rendering the manuscript useless for lithographic engraving. So Bancroft kept this copy and Lincoln had to produce an additional one (Bliss Copy). The Bancroft copy is now owned by Cornell University.

Juventud en la Era de Obama

New Afghanistan Deal: Obama to Apologize; US Troops There Indefinitely. By Joseph Schwerdt and Newsmax Wires
President Barack Obama will apologize to the Afghan people under a security agreement that will keep U.S. troops in Afghanistan well beyond 2014 at a cost of billions to American taxpayers.
NBC News has obtained a draft of the security pact that shows the United States would pay to maintain multiple military outposts in Afghanistan indefinitely and pay to support hundreds of thousands of Afghan security forces.
Also, Reuters is reporting that Obama has agreed to write a letter of apology to the Afghan people acknowledging mistakes made during the "war on terror" and the suffering of the Afghan people.

The letter is to be presented along with the draft at the meeting of tribal elders that is due to start on Thursday and run for several days.
Under the pact, U.S. troops will have sole control over Bagram Air Field north of Kabul, but will share facilities on eight Afghan-run bases throughout the country, Afghan lawmaker Khaled Pashtun told The Associated Press.
National Security adviser Rangin Dadfar Spanta told lawmakers at a weekend briefing that 10,000 to 16,000 residual U.S. and NATO service personnel would stay behind in Afghanistan after 2014, lawmaker Shah Gul Rezayee told the AP. They would mentor and train the Afghan security forces, she said.
The independent Afghan Analysts Network, said Karzai also won a key security agreement from the United States that promised joint action — political, economic or military — against anyone attacking Afghanistan or giving safe haven to Afghan insurgents seeking to unseat the government.
The last-minute deal was reached just two days before Afghan leaders gather to debate the pact. It will contain provisions to give U.S. troops immunity from Afghan law and allow them to enter Afghan homes in exceptional circumstances.
President Obama has frustrated Congressional leaders with his refusal to release specifics about the U.S. presence in Afghanistan beyond next year. But many Americans were led to believe the president had intended to pull all troops out after 10 years of war.
As of Tuesday, at least 2,153 members of the U.S. military had died in Afghanistan since the U.S.-led invasion in late 2001, according to The Associated Press.
The president also has gotten heat for apologizing for America on the international stage. He apologized after U.S. soldiers burned Qurans in Afghanistan. And he has apologized for bombing Japan to end World War II and for U.S. actions in the Middle East and Africa.
On the domestic front this month, the president told Americans he was sorry for thebotched rollout of Obamacare.
Aimal Faizi, a spokesman for Afghan President Hamid Karzai, said the agreement was partly owed Obama's promise to write the letter to the Afghan people acknowledging mistakes made during the 12-year war.
"Both sides agreed that Obama send a letter ... assuring the president and the people of Afghanistan that the right to enter into Afghan homes by U.S. forces and the extraordinary circumstances will not be misused," Faizi told reporters.
"The whole idea of having a letter was to acknowledge the suffering of the Afghan people and the mistakes of the past. That was the only thing that satisfied the president," Faizi added.
A major sticking point that could scuttle the agreement says U.S. forces staying in Afghanistan will not be tried in local courts for any crimes they commit.
Spanta told lawmakers if the U.S. doesn't get jurisdiction over its soldiers and civilian personnel, it won't sign the agreement, and it won't leave any U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan when international combat troops withdraw at the end of 2014.
Divisions run deep in Afghanistan over conceding the right to prosecute U.S. soldiers for crimes committed in the country.
Afghans are still angry over several incidents involving international troops, including the 2012 accidental burning of hundreds of copies of the Quran; a shooting spree that year by a U.S. soldier in southern Afghanistan that killed 16 people, mostly women and children; and the unintentional deaths of civilians by wayward bombs.
While Afghans may be divided over the agreement, they are also pragmatic and know they need international forces in the country, said Kabul University professor Hamidullah Faruqi.
"They will guarantee our stability. They will show to our neighbors that Afghans are not alone, and the financial aid that will come along with this agreement will benefit Afghans, and Afghans know this," he said.
Pashtun, from southern Kandahar, where a Taliban insurgency flourishes said Washington is right to demand jurisdiction over its troops. "Our justice system is still under construction ... Even Afghans don't trust it yet," he told the AP in a telephone interview.
Pashtun said the government "is so weak" that it hasn't been able to arrest a southern warlord accused of killing 117 civilians.
The Bilateral Security Agreement is a sweeping document that incorporates the usual Status of Forces Protection Agreement, which the United States signs with every country where its troops are stationed. The document covers everything from taxation and customs duties to a promise to protect Afghanistan from hostile action.
The Afghan government on Tuesday declared a six-day public holiday to tighten security during a national conference that will vote on a draft agreement allowing U.S. troops to stay in the nation after 2014.

The conference, known as the Loya Jirga, will begin Nov. 21 in Kabul and bring together 3,000 Afghan tribal, political and intellectual leaders. The security agreement with the United States will go to both houses of the Afghan parliament for approval if it is passed by the Loya Jirga, President Hamid Karzai said Nov. 16.
The declaration of the holiday comes three days after a Taliban suicide car bomb near the venue for the Loya Jirga killed 13 people and wounded dozens more.
"The Taliban attack will not affect the meeting, but our meeting will certainly affect them," Jawed Munadi, a delegate to the Loya Jirga, said in an interview. "Our debates are based on how to prevent such attacks and maintain security in Afghanistan through the U.S. and Afghan agreement."

Leftover pot roast, potatoes, carrots, an orange and milk. Doesn’t sound too bad as lunches go.
But according to a set of lunch regulations for children in Canada, the meal was not balanced enough as it was missing a grain. The caregiver’s solution? Filling the grain void with Ritz crackers and charging the mother $10 for it.
According to the blog Weighty Matters, the incident occurred last December, but the Manitoba mother is now speaking out about it.
When Kristen Bartkiw sent her children to daycare with this meal last December, a message was sent home citing her for a lunch infraction per the Manitoba government’s Early Learning and Child Care lunch regulations.

As a reader of Weighty Matters, Bartkiw wrote to the blog that had she sent “microwave Kraft dinner and a hot dog, a package of fruit twists, a Cheestring and a juice box” instead, she likely wouldn’t have gotten dinged.
“They have certain legislation that they have in place where you have to follow these food groups, but it doesn’t matter how processed the foods are or if they’re junk food… so Ritz crackers count as a grain,” the 33-year-old mother told Canada’s Metro News. “I phoned the daycare worker and said ‘you know, potatoes, surely I can get away with this,’ and they didn’t actually end up charging me the $10.”
She told the local newspaper she felt her lunch being considered not healthy enough was “ridiculous.”

“The province requires child-care centres to ensure children have nutritious and balanced meals and snacks throughout the day,” the provincial government said in a statement, according to the Winnipeg Sun. “These can be supplied by the centre or the parents. The province would expect centres to work with parents in educating them regarding what consists of nutritious meals/snacks.”
Since the lunch infraction last year, Canada’s Global News reported that the daycare moved to a hot lunch program, which Bartkiw supports.

Fraud is a crime. Companies have been sued for fraudulently making claims for its products. For example, the maker of the popular super-sweet chocolate-hazelnut spread Nutella was sued for making health claims for its product:
“NPR reported last year that California mom Athena Hohenberg proposed a class-action suit against Ferrero stating that she had fed her 4-year-old daughter Nutella after seeing advertisements that suggested the spread was part of a healthy breakfast. Hohenberg was reportedly shocked to find out it contained 21 grams of sugar, 200 calories, and 11 grams of fat (3.5 of which are saturated) per serving.”
Ferrero was ordered to pay more than $3 million as part of the settlement. Here’s a Nutella commercial. It uses the word “nutritious.”
If this bit of innocuous nonsense was determined to be fraudulent, then what should we think of how ObamaCare was sold to more than 300 million people? At least a jar of Nutella has a label listing the ingredients.
You may recall that the shoe company Sketchers was fined $40 million for making false health statements about for their “Shape-Ups” brand telling customers that walking in the shoes would tone their legs and help them lose weight even though there was no scientific evidence to back up the claim.
If Ferrero and Sketchers were fined for making unsupported health claims for its products, then how is it possible that selling ObamaCare based on fraud should not be reheard by the Supreme Court?
All the opponents of ObamaCare have to do is show the video of President Obama repeatedly assuring the American people that they could keep their insurance policies and doctors. Here’s just one example of the President making the fraudulent claim:
“If you like your health-care plan, you will be able to keep your health-care plan. Period. No one will take it away. No matter what.”
And it just wasn’t the President who made the claim, as USA Today reports.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said the health care overhaul efforts "means making sure you can keep your family's doctor or keep your health care plan if you like it."
Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin told the happily insured "we are going to put in any legislation considered by the House and Senate the protection that you, as an individual, keep the health insurance you have, if that is what you want."
And current Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray also said: "If you like what you have today, that will be what you have when this legislation is passed."
Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said the "bottom line is that under the Affordable Care Act, if you like your doctor and plan, you can keep them."
So then, if the folks promoting false health claims for Nutella and Sketchers can be dragged into court and made to pay fines, what does it say about one of the biggest frauds perpetrated on the American people?

Welcome to the new America "The land of government incompetence and socialist chaos"
More bad news continues to roll daily about ObamaCare, but one recent story in particular captures everything wrong with this misbegotten law. It's the sad tale of Jessica Sanford, saluted by President Obama as a "success story" because she wrote a letter praising the Affordable Care Act.
Alas, Sanford wrote her letter based on false informationprovided by the scandalously broken ObamaCare website. She's one of the lucky few who got past the swarm of bugs and crashes to complete an application. The fabulously expensive, but poorly designed and implemented, website incorrectly told her that taxpayers would pick up most of the tab for her super-expensive new ObamaCare policy - which, contrary to Democrat propaganda, was significantly inferiorto the policy she lost. Between taxpayer subsidies and the enrollment of her child in Medicaid - a welfare program she now qualifies for, even though she makes almost $50,000 per year - she would save money, so she was happy.
But then she was informed the data from the exchange website was incorrect, and she doesn't qualify for those big taxpayer subsidies after all, in part because she enrolled her child in Medicaid. She now says she plans to do without insurance altogether, paying the trans-Constitutional tax/penalty fine for non-compliance.
But there might be a slightly happier ending for Sanford, because some other experts think that maybe Barack Obama's garbage system is still wrong, and she might qualify for some subsidies after all - not as much as she was originally told, but maybe enough to make health insurance borderline affordable. Welcome to the new America of pure government incompetence and socialist chaos, where it takes a team of experts weeks to figure out how much more you'll be paying for insurance coverage.
The punch line is that while Sanford says she's "embarrassed" by these events, she still doesn't really blame Barack Obama or his health care law! She hasn't entirely made the connection between her situation and the man who repeatedly lied to America in order to ensure that it would happen. Another defining attribute of the new America is a melancholy blend of meek obedience and lowered expectations.
